I had the most amazing time, food was lovely, especially the scones, staff were fabulous. Would recommend this place to everyone. If lived here would see me often. Thanks everyone.
Absolutely lovely. Staff and food just beautiful. We had a vegan eater with us, they didn’t miss out on anything, they provided for them also. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend. Well done to you all
High tea is one of my favourite ways to spend an afternoon, munching delicious sweet and savoury treats and drinking gourmet tea. With several great hotels across the city that serve high tea, it's fabulous to find a boutique cafe that specialises in this service alone. Mary Eats Cake in Brunswick is a gorgeous little spot serving elegant high tea services several times a week. Basic packages are available, but you can also up your package with sparkling wine and cheese platters. They also hold special gin high teas that include several gin cocktails. Now that sounds like fun.
The venue itself is quite pretty and feminine. The perfect spot to have a party such as baby showers, birthday parties and bridal showers. White brick walls, chandeliers and vases of flowers on every table make it a lovely and comfortable spot to enjoy yourself.
We started with several glasses of sparkling wine, and a pot of lemongrass and ginger tea. The teapot was a glass pot, and each is placed on it's own heat pad to keep the pots hot. Jugs of milk and bowls of jam and cream are also on the table.
The arrival of our tiered stand of goodies was absolutely delightful. Three plates overflowed with finger sandwiches, chicken pies, smoked salmon topped blinis, fluffy scones, lemon meringue tarts, macaroons, cakes and cheesecake. Everything was amazing and fresh. The sandwiches were delicious with plenty of filling, and the chicken pies had flaky pastry and a tasty filling. The smoked salmon blinis were gorgeous with plenty of cream cheese. All the sweets were amazing. Pretty as a picture, but also full of zingy flavours, they really were delicious.
High tea has to have great scones, and I'm pleased to say that these massive pastries were light and fluffy. The jam and cream were the perfect accompaniment, and it would have been so easy to eat several if there wasn't already an abundance of food on the stand.
By this stage we were onto our second glass of sparkling, and a new pot of chamomile tea. This was when we were served a generous cheese board, with several beautiful cheeses, fresh fruit and plenty of wafer crackers. With a sitting of two hours, you are encouraged to linger and enjoy the experience; and with this amount of food, we were able to take it slow and savour everything. However, we still couldn't finish everything, and the staff happily supplied us with containers to take some of the sweets home.
I cannot compliment the staff enough. They were so lovely and friendly, as they worked the room ensuring that every group was taken care of perfectly. Our drinks were constantly topped up, and it was a pleasure chatting with them.
I would highly recommend Mary Eats Cake as a venue for an intimate date or a group gathering with a special occasion in mind. The food and teas are amazing quality, the venue is beautiful and the experience in general is quite intoxicating and addictive. I have a feeling that this won't be my last high tea at Mary Eats Cake, and I'm already anticipating visiting again with friends.
Visiting this little establishment was the best decision ever made this year. Such an amazing high tea experience with delicious savoury and sweet treats, cannot fault anything at all during this visit. A quick shout out to all the staff and particularly also a very caring host (aamir), you are all doing outstanding work and deserve recognation. Well done! Keep up the good work 🤗

What an incredible way to spend an afternoon.
We visited Mary Eats Cake for their Gin High Tea, on a beautiful Friday afternoon/evening. It was definitely one to remember!
I have experience High Tea’s before where the food was really bland and … well… overrated. However, the food here was… truly delicious, flavorsome and an absolute hit in our books.
During the experience you get to enjoy multiple Gin based cocktails, Tea and Petit Fours. The gin cocktails were made fresh and all served in their own unique way.
All the savoury items were absolute hits in my books. My favourite sweet item was deinfitely the Sticky Date Pudding like cake. DELICIOUS!
I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for an experience to gift or do with friends/family.
💚Staff – Wonderful and Friendly
💚Drinks – Delicious Cocktails
💚Food – Above Expectations
💚Overall Experience - Incredible
I’ve come to discover with age and more dining adventures under the belt that taste-bud changing moments are fewer and farther in between. But I got to experience one such moment recently with Mary Eats Cakes and their scones. So incredibly perfect was the texture and taste of the scone that it truly highlighted the disparity between this and previous ‘perfect scone’ encounters, redefining what I previously thought was ‘fluffy and light’.
I had the bottomless brunch with my mum last Sunday and it was amazing! Beautiful food (particularly the pumpkin and chive scones), very friendly service and gorgeous French/Marie Antoinette inspired decor. The only thing I would recommend is better music - something folky/ambient/instrumental would be much more fitting. Can't wait to visit again!

We loved the establishment, it was all very 1920s styled! We enjoyed the Bottomless brunch with a array of beautiful high tea items that were delicious! I loved the sweet scones with jam and cream, while my friend enjoyed the savoury ones. The staff were attentive and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Only small thing was it had been a hot summers day, and the place was stinking hot. But we enjoyed the event and recommend for others to go!
Celebrated a friends birthday here and really enjoyed the high tea 😍 the sandwiches, arancini balls, scones and cakes were all super delicious! I wish I could have fit more in my stomach cause the sweets were so good!
I attended a friend’s 40th high tea at Mary Eats Cake. One word: Wow!!
The venue is absolutely gorgeous. We were seated in a private room and it was every bit quaint, delicate and feminine. Perfect atmosphere for a high tea. In terms of food, everyone commented on how much and how delicious it was. The tier shown is for 3 people which doesn’t seem like much but by the time you work through the savouries to the sweets, you will be full. My personal favourites were the chicken and cucumber sandwich (with added sultanas, divine!), arancini and scones. There was also different variety of tea and coffee available. You could not ask for more. The guests were all impressed and I can not recommend enough for a special event. Would love to come back again!!
Such a fantastic experience. From the presentation, customer service, food and variety. The food is exceptional. I really enjoyed it. I will definitely return. I only hope they could be open more days
