Really lovely meal with fresh ingredients and interesting flavours. Great selection of reasonably priced local wines. They have a new, fresh team who are keen and passionate and the atmosphere was comfortable and stylish. One star off because service was a little slack at one point but all over a great experience and highly recommended.

More of a 4.5 star than 5, but still exceptional. Great food and professional staff. The diner style booths give it an historic charm. Soft furnishings and lighting make it perfect for dinner conversations you can actually hear.
Usually better to make a booking, especially during busy nights of the week and parliamentary sittings.

Small quite but beautiful location and atmosphere. I had the duck which was to die for and zucchini cake which to me was amazing. Well attended to by staff. I highly recommend for quiet romantic/intimate dinners.

Did not expect much but was pleasantly surprised: the service was friendly and the food was excellent... I really enjoyed the king fish... and the new beef entree was amazing. Situated in the old part of Australian National University, you really do get the feeling of being back in time. I enjoyed this place... thanks!!!!

Wonderful vegetarian meal with complimentary flavours enhancing natural texture organic and sourced produce. Finished with suburb cheeses and fruit. Local rosé to compliment the meal. Intelligent, efficient and friendly service, just a lovely experience.

Great atmosphere, affordable drinks and decent food. Plenty of seating both inside and out under beautiful old trees. A great place to catch up with a group of friends. Often has live music during the summer months.

The steak was excellent and the general ambience very good, however, I got stung and I duly warn others. Our table was celebrating a successful book launch so I wanted to buy champagne. The $37 Australian variety was 'not available' so I cast my eye down to see others of a comparable price and saw Moet and Chandon for $35. Surprised, I said I'd take that. The waiter asked if I'd like a bottle and I said yes. He insisted I go back to the table though I was there with money to pay (the $35). Had he taken it there he could have told me that it was actually $120 and I didn't have enough money. It was only after the bottle was opened I was informed. My mistake had not been reading the fine print which was that the $35 was for 200ml, not the bottle. The $120 was listed but further down and without my reading glasses, I didn't read the faint print. So a pleasant evening was somewhat ruined as my hostess had to come up with the extra $85 for a wine that is actually inferior to many Australian medium-priced sparkling wines. I felt misled though ultimately the fault was mine. Had they actually had the original $37 wine in stock this wouldn't have happened. I am left wondering if it is a ploy to get people - like us - to inadvertently take the vastly more expensive option.

The Waitress was angry and could not take the order correctly. There was no staff and for the few people that were dining the service was poor. When you see an hour an twenty minutes go by and still no entrée you start to think are they catching the ingredients before cooking them. When my wife gets a bone her meal, the pasta was dry and skinned over I think that maybe it was someone elses meal that got thrown back. Epic Fail.

Absolutely loved it. Gorgeous food (with complimentary amuse-bouche, bread and palette cleanser) and wonderful ambience. The music and lighting were gentle and fed my tired soul.

Great restaurant perfect for an amazing meal in a quiet and stylish setting.

Fantastic!. As we were staying at University House we decided to give Boffins a go - and we liked it so much we dined two nights in a row! Fantastic service, fantastic food, highly recommend! The perfect understated elegance that Canberra does so well.

The Beef fillet is tender and a good choice. The menu is quite short but sufficient, and wine is reasonably priced. (No BYO). The complimentary bread is delicious as is a complimentary d’oevre (this time cucumber, pumpkin and pine nuts). Try to book the tables rather than the booths for better ambiance.

...the service was friendly throughout the whole dinner service. The food is nice but not as good as what they think and are charging for the high prices.<br/><br/>
