Excellent old style pub, has exactly the feel you want and the name says it all.
Staff are very friendly and was really nice to see them making sure it was all Covid safe and people had masks on. Had a group of guys walk in with masks around their chin or not even on, pulled them up right away.
Food was so hot and fresh we had to wait to eat it, was absolutely burning hot, just what you want from a meal. Everything was delicious, seasoned perfectly and overall really well done. The French fries dip was outrageous, get extra if you can.

Old, rustic, colonial style pub with indoor and outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. I went with a large group on a Sunday afternoon. Orders are taken via a link from a QR code on each table. Our table was very unfortunate in that the orders were lost in the ether some where and it was around 2 hours many of us waited for our food. I was the most disappointed with my lamb kofta meat balls looking dry and unappealing- a little greenery may have helped! The chips definitely needed the sauce they came with. Some of the other meals looked more appetising. The arancini balls were a hit with some of our group. The afternoon entertainment was pleasant. Overall, we had a pleasant time and it seems a good space to get together with some mates. I wouldn’t go just for the food. I’d say 2 ⭐️ for the food but 3 ⭐️for the atmosphere. Happy to try again sometime to see if we just picked a bad day.😊

Fabulous historic pub in Canberra with a good wine selection and awesome food! Good portion size and great prices! Highly recommend the current special: Coconut Roasted Sugar Cabbage with turmeric chickpeas with walnuts and macadamias. Sounded intriguing so I had to try it. Amazing flavours and one of the best meals I have eaten! Well done to the kitchen for trying new things - this was an absolute winner! Please, PLEASE, consider moving this to the permanent menu - I'd dine here everyday if I could eat this!! :-)

Excellent atmosphere!! The staff are friendly and very helpful. The menu is just great, I tried the buffalo wings with chips. You can choose Big Plate or Small Plate deals, both of which are generously served.. even kid's plate are available here. Vegetarian menu as well. Highly recommended place. Go here to feel the past come to life with what theyve done with the atmosphere.

Love this pub, it's got a great old times relaxed vibe, and fires in winter is a big draw. Prices are really high though, and food is average at best. Last night I had a beef burger ($23) that had a pre-made beef patty, the smallest amount of cheese you've ever seen and virtually no flavour. My friend had steak and apparently that was decent.

On a wet Mother's Day the Inn was so cosy with its lit fireplaces and lounge settings around them. We had lunch from a great selection of bistro and plates of food. We had the duck pate, pork belly and beetroot bruschetta - fresh and tasty could recommend. Music in the afternoon was an excellent wind down for the day. Could have stayed on for dinner.......and dessert !

I had my 50th Birthday At The Old Canberra Inn Friday night. They were so helpful right from the start. The night was absolutely fantastic. The staff were right on cue. The food was amazing, food service was great bringing out food at exactly the right times and communicating with me from the moment we arrived. Last Saturday we had our engagement party at this venue, the venue was perfect for our needs, all the staff were incredible and so helpful at all times. The wing deal from 4 till 6 weeknights is the best in Canberra. The wings are big, juicy, tender, spicy and delicious. Get them with blue cheese sauce. If you love wings and beer you will be in heaven. Winter can be a bit hard here if it is full up but it is worth the visit. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed.

Had dinner here one night during a short holiday to Canberra. Very rustic and old school country feel. Lots of great beers available and while we were there they were having competing breweries fight it out for the best beer with a chip voting system. The brewers were there to chat about their stuff and offer tasters. Good music and good pub atmosphere. I had the lamb salad for dinner which was quite large but perfectly cooked and proportioned with lamb, feta, lettuce and tomato.

Has heaps of potential but saturday special turned out to be a moderate portion of chilli con carne in a hollowed out bread roll for $17. It was okay chilli con carne but it was a bit underwhelming. I hope they do better because the place has amazing potential.

Friendly service, delicious food, great atmosphere. My partner and i are from queensland and felt like hitting up a local pub for a meal and a drink. The service was great, the food was delicious and good value for money, drink prices were also good. The pub had a very old inn feel about it which you dont find in many places these days. The general atmosphere of the place was just awesome. We will definitely be coming back next time we come to Canberra.

Mid week dinner. Decided to head down for a mid week meal - and it was amazing! Best steak I have had in Canberra - free range and just amazing! My husband and I were tempted to lick the plates everything was that good! New owners, new chef and wonderful service.

Relaxed and authentically Australian environment.. When you don't feel like fast food, but good food as fast a possible, this is the place for a business lunch or a relaxed event. Unlike most over-priced pubs/clubs in the CBD the Old Canberra Inn provides for a variety of patrons with moder music as well as the classics. Canberra is a small place and as a Canberran, I value a country feel and an opportunity to build rapport with staff and from the first visit this is achieved at OCI.<br/><br/>The food is an example of simplicity at Auzzie quality and the Chef is awesome at preparing any one of his special sauces at request (garlic gravy is the best!). Huge thanks to all the staff!

Great Food, Great Price, Great people. I just had lunch at the OCI and it was great.<br/>The price is really good and the service is really good. I have to be out of my office had lunch and back within the hour and this place does this every time.<br/>I, as a real person, understand that if there is a line of people in front of me the meal will take a little longer to prepare and be served. If you dont realise this then it sounds like you need to go to the seniors buffet at the local club. The fact is if you want good food then you dont mind waiting a little longer for it.

Rude and full of bogans. Coming from Sydney originally, I am so frustrated about the lack of good old fashioned pubs on the north side. Canberra Inn however would have to be the worst. To be told by the chef when ordering a meal that's "he's busy" and how long the order might take " how long is a f........king piece of string" says it all. 1 cook ( the title chef is a stretch) and 1 person serving at the bar on a Friday night all but completes the picture.
