Review The Museum Cafe - Canberra

Recently visited Museums to experience the Ancient Greece! Visited the Cafe for lunch. Museum Cafe has loads of sweets options. Perfect place for all Sweet tooth lover 🤩 Plus they serve light lunch to full lunch options. It is great to experience lake side view while having your food. Indeed marvellous ambience. In frame, chicken salad, which was shredded chicken served in a open wrap with Hummus on top some fresh veggies and and mouth watering 🍟 fries. Plus Agnus Beef Burger 🍔 😋 Do explore this place if you have not tried any food here. Its a great experience😀👍🏻

Very nice cafe inside the Australian museum. Menu always has vegan (usually 2 options in the regular menu + 2 options in the daily specials) and dairy free options. Soy latte is always good. We have had their soup of the day several times and they are always delicious, they taste fresh and the bread is very good. Food is always very nice, Nice ambience and beautiful views. Staff is friendly and service is great.

Pleasant cafe, way better than I’ve come to expect from a public institution. Coffee was good, cakes were good, food looked interesting and varied Great ambience. Worth the visit to the museum just for some where to eat

Great views out of the balcony and large selection of food. Love the Greek theme and lots of vegan/vegetarian options too!

A small but pleasant cafe within the Museum. Plenty of food options available and lots of seating, both indoors and out. The snacks and coffee were reasonable and we didn't have to wait long.

Very nice view sitting outside, but it was raining by the time we almost finished, and we had to go 😂

Beautiful view but poor service, and a terrible menu. Lots of fancy vegetarian types of food which is not very nice and is expensive.

A nice place to eat. Reasonable price with amazing views of Lake Burley Griffin.

Seems to be frequently busy and even though there are people running all over the place an order for iced coffee takes quite a long time. Hot drinks came and we're consumed at the table long before cold drinks arrived. Food was delivered long after the drinks, so the get together of 5 people was a haphazard mish mash of interruptions. What should have been a neat delivery of drinks and food was spread out over 25 minutes. The one redeeming feature of course is the view. This is a venue that offers so much potential, but is badly served by a limited menu and poorly organised wait staff who seem to still be learning about good cafe service. As it is the only place to relax over coffee other than the members lounge, visitors to the Museum have limited choice. Overall, this is no longer a destination; rather it is a pretentious cafe that let's patrons down on so many levels.

Lovely location, water views sitting inside and out. Simple but tasty menu, reasonably priced, very attentive staff and the drinks and meals were delivered quickly. Very spacious, plenty of room for prams and highchairs available. Will definitely be back, thank you!

Probably my top breakky spot. Love walking around the lake to the cafe and enjoy coffee & breakfast on the deck in the beautiful sunshine!

Excellent service, a nice spot to relax and a wonderful view of the Lake and the Commonwealth Bridge!

Went out to the Museum to buy some postcards and ended up staying for lunch. Hadn't been to the museum since I worked here while, and just after (Gold Exhibition) it was built. Lunch was really nice. Had the beer battered chips and chunky beef pie and a blood orange mineral water. Really nice spot to just sit and relax. I might have to buy some more postcards I think. www <dot> postcrossing <dot> com

Great relaxing time in Canberra. Gorgeous lake view!

Disappointing. Even for a museum cafe. The coffee was terrible, weak and luke warm, the cake average, at least the food (bean burrito and bacon&egg burger) were okay. I’m sure you can find better around the area.

Food was great after spending a long day in the museum. I love history so the museum was impressive to check out. It was perfect to finish off a meal like this. The restaurant has a nice view which is always a bonus. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Outstanding food especially when museum cafe offerings tend to fall a little on the flat side. The Korean beef burger is fantastic - beautifully flavoured and just enough spice to make it really interesting, and there's a great selection of cabinet food and cakes as well.

One of my work colleagues is a regular bruncher at the National Museum of Australia cafe which is catered by Broadbean Catering. I’m constantly told great things about it so on a free weekend, some friends and I organised a bike ride around the lake and brunch at the Museum cafe. I had made a booking and our reserved table was by one of the back doors. As it was only 2 degrees that morning, and people kept walking in and out of that door, we decided to move to a warmer spot. I can’t blame anyone for wanting to go outside. The views looking over the lake are amazing and this must be a very busy place in summer.

Just a casual cafe (decent reheated meals in the $10-$20 range) but with a great view over the lake and two balconies, which makes it a good option even if you're not going to the crappy museum.
