Review Rye - Canberra

My wife and I had breakfast here, I enjoyed the different flavour pairings. Coffee was decent, service was very friendly though a little slow at times. Eggs were cooked as ordered, which was nice. Yummy toast. I'd visit again for sure.

Really disappointing experience, have been many times before when in Canberra and it’s been great. We ordered coffee and it was excellent- but after waiting 40ish minutes for food to still arrive, we called it and cancelled our order. Not sure what’s going on, seemed like a lot of staff working? Wouldn’t be back in a hurry

We popped in for brunch today and the food was fabulous! Coffee was top notch as well. Just note if you are there on the weekend you are going to be waiting a while…. Think we waited about 40 minutes for our food…

Went for brunch on a Saturday and this place was so packed! Food is amazing, loved the Skagenröra. The shrimps were very fresh! The beetroot latte is quite nice. It doesn't taste of beetroot, tastes kind of like a regular latte less the coffee. The only letdown was that the service took forever. It took around 35 mins to serve the first drink and 45 mins to serve our food. Overall, the food is great but I'll suggest trying this place on a weekday. Hopefully the service will be better when it is less crowded. Score: Food: 8/10 Service: 2/10

Went for breakfast and was not disappointed! We had ordered bacon and egg rolls, very delicious. Light and tasty but also fills you up. Service wasn’t the best, maybe a tad distracted at the time? Drinks menu was a bit confusing to locate however coffee was good alongside the fresh orange juice. Would go again and try the different meals. Food and drinks were presented nicely!

Some friends recommended this place. The vibe was good and the food and coffee were amazing. It took some time for our food to come out but seeing how busy they were it was understandable.

The presentation was the only good thing, not worth the value for taste and quantity. Had baked eggs was not enough in quantity, Pancake was super eggy and uncooked. Only the food looked amazing but what a shame the taste and quantity was no good The total bill was $75 but not worth the money.

Prompt, friendly, and personal service no matter how busy the cafe is, plus beautifully presented food with interesting & delicious flavours. Great coffee too. I came back for breakfast every morning whilst visiting Canberra, and was never disappointed. Thank you team!

Was visiting Canberra for 48 hours and found Rye Cafe. Beautiful fit-out, nice muffins but the coffee urgently needs attention. Weak and way too milky. Given the strong competition in the area would recommend the owner looks in to this!

Was in Canberra for work and had breakfast here - excellent coffee and the avocado & poached eggs with broad beans, peas, and feta was delicious, healthy and generous. Liked it so much, we went back for lunch a couple of days later. The smoked trout was just as good and my wife's steak was cooked to perfection. Washed it down with a lovely Clonakilla red - the small selection of wines has been impressively curated, with some really interesting options that you don't usually see on cafe wine lists.

The best bacon and egg roll in Canberra. Get the Deluxe bacon and egg roll. It's legit!

The food was nice, service was average. One serve of bacon & eggs and two to toasted sandwich's with fries on the side. And two smoothies $71.00 - charging $5 extra for bacon seemed excessive.

Great food and simple atmosphere. The baked eggs are a must try, especially on cold Canberra mornings. Friendly and prompt service. Love it

Amazing coffee and food. And the people are the most friendly in all the land! A must try if you're on Lonsdale St

Rye Cafe is exactly what Lonsdale Street needed! The food is delicious and fresh and the coffee is excellent every time! I also love the light-filled, Scandi-inspired fit out. Favourite dish so far is the smoked trout with potato rosti

Delicious coffee and the best pastries in Canberra. Can't wait to try the wine menu. Delish!

Dining at RYE is an absolute pleasure and a place you want to share with all of your friends. The coffee, food and service are first class. My recommendation: the scrambled eggs with mushrooms and goat's curd.

Putting service back in the service industry. Great coffee. Great food. The chilli jam is amazing! And dog friendly, bringing out water for the pooches if you are lucky enough to get a seat outside. I will be back.

This lovely cafe is located on Lonsdale Street where most of the food venues in Braddon are located. I rushed here as it was getting close to closing time. I appreciated it was an all day brunch menu which meant a late breakfast was on the cards. The service was exceptional and so friendly. I was seated inside at the bench wall near the window and water promptly brought out.

I started off with a Mocha. They use 5 Senses coffee and think it was the Crompton Road or Darkhorse variety. It had wonderful notes to it and really enjoyed both the coffee art as well as the flavour!

I had the Spiced Baked Eggs (which incidentally were not so spicy which pleases me) and in the tomato base was chickpeas, black beans, and capsicum. It was topped with a wonderful goats curd. The highlight of the dish was the Grilled Garlic Bread. They sourced the sourdough from Three Mills Bakery and I absolutely loved it.

Very glad to have made it in time and have a delectable late brunch here.

This was the first time I tried cons cons, similar to a kind of Chinese traditional grain. Very interesting and creative combination. I love the decorations in their store, they are also offering homemade sauces, jams, and their own coffee beans!

One of the busier places over the long weekend and we heard the menu is Scandinavian heavy so of course we had to try. The service was friendly and minimalist furniture is definitely influenced by that region. Highlights: the breads 🍞 were great and the food was beautifully presented. Lowlights: struggling to find some!

Haven't been disappointed by anything yet. I work close to Rye so will sometimes pop in for lunch. It's clean, the staff are friendly, the food is good and is served promptly so absolutely nothing to complain about.

Went there on Saturday morning with friends
The cafe was pretty busy
The coffee was good
I really like the blueberry muffin. It also had almond and sunflower seeds. Delicious!
The golden egg was tasty. I also added chorizo in it. Fantastic!
The spiced baked egg with beans was delicious too. The sourdough was toasted and the butter was tasty!
I think it’s the best cafe for brunch in Canberra.

Rye Cafe is a trendy cafe of popular Lonsdale Street in Braddon. It's simple, modern and light decor draws in crowds and the menu is unique. The price is on the higher side but it's worth it. They do great coffee, the staff are friendly and it has a good vibe.

Good food, prompt service, found me seating even on peak hour. Wait staff were polite and put effort into delivering the service. Very impressive and much better then what I’ve received in sydney.

Bread quality is fantastic and they’re rightfully proud of it. Baked eggs cooked right, nice tangy sauce. House butter is delightful.

Came here for breakfast and enjoyed eggs on toast with an extra bacon side. Delicious bread, perfectly poached eggs but the bacon was smothered in oil and needed a paper towel to soak it all up. Coffee was great. My friend also enjoyed their meal but thought there were too many peas. Prompt service in a very cosy yet sleek looking cafe. It definitely stands out when walking pass.

Had brunch here one morning, had a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast with goat cheese and mushroom - it was huge! And coffee was great, too. Recommended.

In short: Rye Café on Canberra’s foodie mecca strip of Lonsdale St. offers up top notch coffee and café fare in a chic, warm, and inviting space. The café competition on Lonsdale is strong, and Rye Café more than stands shoulder to shoulder with the best.

Canberra on a crisp winter’s morning, with shards of sunlight warming the frost from glowing spaces where they land, has that cosy feeling I’ve felt in other great winter cities like Toronto, New York, Montreal, and many more. It’s that sharp, brightness to the air that makes you want to cup a warm mug between your hands and watch the joggers, dog walkers, and pram pushers slide on as you sip and sit from a chic, serene café perch. On Canberra’s Lonsdale St. foodie strip, Rye Café is that perch.
