Review Olims Bar & Bistro - Canberra

The prawn pappardelle pasta was delicious, the pasta was light and silky, I’m guessing made in house and the braised pork shoulder was melt in the mouth with lovely sides. It was a busy Saturday night but service was great too. Cosy and casual dining - we will be back.

Every time we go to Canberra we make a point of going for a meal In this restaurant. We went last Saturday and we’re so impressed we returned on Monday. I’ll admit that I’m always impressed with Dashni. She is so so efficient, polite and switched on. The meals are absolutely delicious and the whole experience is topped of by the great staff. Dashni is terrific as is Chris as he runs the restaurant/bistro yet always makes time to engage with the patrons. We will definitely return as this place is actually very special within the Canberra environment. We just love it. Thank you 🙏

The Pulled Pork Burger. WOW, AMAZING! I'm usually hesitant ordering pork, because I am very fussy on cooking pork, but these guys nailed it. Super soft bun, huge amounts of perfectly cooked and pulled pork and just the right amount of filling. Can't wait to go back to Canberra and get another.

This is a great restaurant to visit while you are in Canberra. It has a lot of history with it and the service is good. The spaghetti carbonara was tasty, and the chicken parmy was great. The only downside is during busier hours we found the the service was slower, but overall a great restaurant.

Just went for a drink. Thought they would have good beers as they have hosted the Canberra craft beer festival a couple of times, but just served the standard Tooheys and the like... Disappointed

Most people think I choose to stay in hotels for glamourous patrons and staff who are great. I do not. I choose my hotels not on the basis of stars, prices, people none I choose them none I choose them on the basis of the quality of their pianos Mercure in Canberra has a typo typo try and get it computer typo piano very rare speak now beautiful and I think it is it is the best piano in in the nation very rare they don't even know what do they have but I do

The food is always hearty and the staff are always friendly. We travel to Olims for business and this hotel is steeped in history and the rooms are great to work out of while you’re in town.

We've had a mixed experience staying at the Mecure over the last five nights. Staff at reception were friendly when checking in however, the first room we were shown to was the size of a shoe box. When we complained to reception they were very accommodating and gave us a free upgrade to a huge two bedroom suite. Thank you! Our new rooms whilst much more agreeable are still in need of an upgrade. The curtains are very thin and keep out little to no light. Not all the power boards work and you can here constant running water in the pipes through the walls. We accidentally left my computer mouse on the desk in the first room however, when House keeping checked they said it wasn't there? I feel a little extra effort could have gone into locating this. Breakfast was average. Other guests ordered eggs, completed their entire meal and were still waiting for them to arrive. We had a two course meal for dinner at $55 per person plus drinks. We waited over an hour for our main course in a half empty freezing room. The waitress had bad body odour and the waiter charged around like a bull in a china shop, all service staff were running thought the restaurant and seemed incredibly flustered. Several diners complained regarding the service and it was definitely not the experience we thought we were going to have. Our mains were delicious however, we sent both desert plates back to the kitchen as they had key ingredients missing off the plate and didn't match the menu description. We would probably stay again because of how lovely and generous the reception staff were but would definitely dine else where.

Staff friendly and accomodating seafood was great value beautiful sauces very flavoursome breakfast was let down all the condiment jars needed refilling at 9 : 10 am and were not refilled by 10 when we left. Also ordered fried egg which never arrived when I mentioned this waiter said didn't it arrive I do apologise. The tvs remote needed attention very hard to work only one extra pillow and one double doona for twin beds rooms very dusty it was quite a rabbit warren to get around long distances from reception to bedrooms . Bathrooms very clean bids ok bistro meal vet nice bar staff obliging . Do not think rooms are value for $200 a night not happy with the Accor groups choice here .

Incredibly expensive, Ive stayed in hotels that charge 4 times less, and offer more amenities to guests. Everything is an expensive add-on. Wifi, breakfast, parking, even water in your room, its a bit ridiculous. It doesn't matter that its the "busy" season, and that its a late check-in, you would think that for $499 you would get a great experience. Its also very old and dated, would not recommend unless you have no other options for the night, which is the only reason I chose it, as I needed a bed.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip...online price was discounted heavily so a bargain otherwise would have been expensive...the room was basic and had a very strong cigarette smoke smell...the staff at reception were very helpful, swapped the room and even upgraded to executive suite for the inconvenience...great location meters away from Braddon cafe strip...room service food was good value for money..they also have 2 dog friendly rooms

Lovely motel. Friendly staff. Room was very comfortable, breakfast buffet was delicious. Walked to the War Memorial for the Dawn Service.

Worth the upgrade to a king room, bed was sooooo comfortable! Cute terrace and private enclosed courtyard. Breakfast was fantastic! Lots of options and decent amounts of food, arrived on time to the room. Staff were very accommodating when we arrived at midnight, calling only an hour prior to book in. $162 for the night including our massive breakfast, well worth it definitely our go to place to stay in Canberra.

We had a fabulous dinner in the Bistro of this iconic hotel (I remember it as the Olims). Bit surprised to find the wine list (per glass) was deleted, so choice was limited to one. Found it a tad noisy in the dinning room, so after-dinner drinks were in the adjoining lounge.

Great old fashioned English or Scottish styled Inn! Fantastic pub from the original Ainslee Inn with great prices on pub food!

Beautiful old style hotel. Big rooms, very friendly and helpful staff choice between a restaurant if you want a 2-3 course meal or a bistro with your standard pub food.

Stayed in a king bed loft apartment. Was very warm and cosy when we arrived. Parking is easy with the car park out the back if you wish to pay per day which is the only downside, we felt it should be included in the rate you pay per room. All in all was a nice stay.

Very expensive, stayed three nights and charged us different prices for every night, I've been to a lot of places and never have had that happen. The bottom sheet was ripped which is not a good thing, then after putting drinks in fridge and then coming back to find the fridge didn't work was not acceptable, tho I was happy that they did have it fixed. I did mention to reception about maybe a discount would be nice, the lady said she will make a note of it but we did not receive one.found the lighting in room and kettle cabinet to be quit dark.
