Review Rasa Sayang Restaurant - Canberra

Daniel Loh
The food is horrible. We ordered 5 dishes. The Tauhu goreng and Ikan build are reasonably good , which got me excited and could not wait for the mains. The sambal belacan squid and curry chicken that we ordered are literally the worse dishes I had in canberra. The squid has no sambal , belacan or any taste, but sugar. The curry chicken was horribly sweet and I can tell they used the Ayam brand curry sauce to make the dish. It is not Malaysian restaurant, I feel cheated at the end, no wonder there were only a few tables old white old folks and the owner was complaining business is bad. Well, I know why the business is bad now. Avoid at all cost, not worth your time and money

The food is AMAZING. The entrees are always delicious and while it’s difficult to choose just one or two - we usually go for the spicy beef rolls and sang choy bau. The curries are delicate in flavour (we had the chicken, vegetable and massaman) - beautifully balanced and delicious. It is our favourite Malaysian restaurant, and indeed our favourite restaurant in Dickson. But I recommend booking ahead as they are always busy. Service is beautiful, and down to earth. Would recommend every day of the week!

Dickson favourite. Spicy beef rolls, crispy San choy bow, vegie curry, chilli beef, pork baba, eggplant sambal. So many great choices and the staff are so friendly and kind. If you've never been you really must try it. Traditional and delicious.

Yet more proof there is no good Malaysian food in Canberra. A pitiful laksa attempt followed by dry chunks of beef in a sauce that in no way resembled rendang and plastic roti "fresh" out of a packet. Save your money and try making it at home, even something out of a bottle/packet would be better. Edit in response to restaurant reply: Maybe look a bit further down as I have plenty of 3, 4 and 5 star ratings to balance out a few 1 and 2 star disasters. By comparison the only high star reviews of your restaurant seem to be from (fake/burner/paid) accounts that have reviewed less than 3 businesses or always give 5 stars...

My favourite restaurant in Canberra - my family have been coming here for nearly two decades, and we've never had a bad meal. I would highly recommend Rasa for the best Malay-Chinese food in town.

Absolutely hands down the most amazing Malaysian you’ll have in Canberra…it’s fabulous! Our all time favourite and it never disappoints. We’ve just had a Friday night takeaway and do yourself a favour and GO during lockdown and treat yourself to some home cooked hearty food. Thank you guys for doing what you do so well and we can’t wait until your doors are able to open again soon. In the meantime we’ll be making the most of the incredible takeaways.

A Canberra icon in terms of simple but delicious asian cuisine. Never disappoints

I have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years! The food is absolutely beautiful..which ever dish you choose will not be a disappointment. The owner is also extremely lovely who makes an effort to mingle with his customers..I cannot find fault in this place

Restaurants come, restaurants go but the Rasa seems to go for ever. This is not surprising because within its class it is the best in town. Not cheap, not expensive, good food great staff and the best take away.

We were recommended this restaurant by a young lady at ibis budget in watson Canberra, I had the curry lamb and husband had a duck dish , I am hard to please , and i thoroughly enjoyed my meal as did my husband . Service was fast and friendly , meals were served as you would expect , piping hot .

Beautiful food, always and the service is exceptional. Can not walk in here without leaving with a smile. Dried chilli beef is the best for any occasion - take away, eat in, nights alone, left overs etc. Rasa Sayang is one of Dickson’s gems.

One of my faves. Chilli beef. Yum. Go there every time I am in Canberra. Huge menu but we stick with our favourites mainly. Rendang is good but not hot enough for me. Go the chilli for me. Rendang is meant to wow. Reasonable prices. Walking distance from Quality Inn. Highly recommended.

Not very authentic...if anyone said the rendang is good...that person must not know wat is rendang...satay is dissapoint...i guess, the chef is not Malaysian..

It's been a long time between visits; however, pleased that food is just as tasty and service very attentive and friendly.

Best Malaysian in Canberra!!!! Their Nasi Goreng is totally divine.

Nice people - friendly and helpful. Food really ordinary - stale, gloopy, sugary muck.

Fantastic food! We keep going back again and again.
