Review Redsalt Restaurant - Canberra

Redsalt Restaurant is inside the Crown Plaza hotel and is great for breakfast buffet but is expensive. They have a great selection of meats, cheese, granola, fruit šŸ‰, stewed tomatoes šŸ… and mushrooms šŸ„, bacon šŸ„“, sausage, ham, eggs, along with coffee, tea, and juice.

Very disappointing experience. Had to flag staff down to order and chase where things were. Took forever to get the meal. The bread for starter arrived after our mains. Meals were not hot, bordering on cold. Warm chocolate brownie for dessert arrived cold. Had to be sent back. Very disorganised with staff. A poor effort for the calibre of the hotel it is part of.

since we were staying in the crowne plaza, we decided on dinner at redsalt since most restaurants are a 15min walk away. it seemed that the majority of staff working were new or being trained which made for some small mistakes but nothing problematic. staff from the bar came over and took our drink orders as it was not too busy, which was a bonus. we began with the sourdough starter which was delicious, for mains we had the humpty doo barramundi and the braised pork belly. the barramundi was delicious, it had crispy skin and was moist but flaky. the pork belly was tender and well seasoned, and the sides were well suited to the dish. we wished we had room for dessert, but alas the delicious food and lovely cocktails left us very full. overall a good experience.

Food was okay, but nothing special. There are definitely better options available for the same money. Service was good and very friendly.

After dining here tonight, I can say I wasn't disappointed. Our waiter was attentive but not overwhelming, we definitely didn't feel pestered. Entre (roasted pumpkin rocket salad) was delivered promptly after ordering and tasted excellent. Mains were delicious and beverage service could not be faulted. Wouldn't hesitate to dine again should the occasion arise.

Went to this place as it was in our hotel and the menu looked good. Overall, the meals were not great. The share main menu idea is good but it does need to come to the table looking a little better than a RSL lunchtime special. The other issue was that with the two times we visited, the wine came out at room temperature. White wine, room temp. Asked them to bring us a chilled glass of wine. So they brought chilled glasses. Wine was still room temp. Happened on both nights. Not really wonderful. They really did not get it. Also, if you want to cook a dish like pasta, please learn how it is done properly. Always makes a difference to see a dish done the way it is supposed to be done.

Monday night. Stopped in at Red Salt with friends for dinner before a show. Big mistake and we missed all the cues for what was a disappointment like I cant recall having forever. 40 minutes for an antipasto to arrive (I would have happily gone I and done it myself). Mains never made it.although the server did offer to put them into a take away container. Service was bad. Communications with diners was terrible. Very disappointing

The kitchen is open until 2200h on Friday nights. All floor staff are warm and accommodating. Coffee is good, mostly because it tastes like coffee. Dinner dishes are great. The salmon and chirizo salad entrƩe is my current favourite.

Canā€™t eat even half of the light sandwich. Itā€™s for 2 peoplešŸ˜‚ cost 24 dollars. Steak for my husband was nicely cooked as well, with young broccoli

Managed to book last minute for Xmas dinner. Was lovely! Very attentive, friendly staff. Ambiance was lovely!! Food was amazing! Good value for xmas. 3 course meal for $62 each. Servings were generous especially the mains! The only negative was the air con was a bit cold but everything else was lovely!! Would return and recommend!

Absolutely terrible we stayed in the hotel and had both breakfast and dinner.
Dinner
For $33 the spinach fettuccine was terrible was barely warm and pasta was undercooked and topped with a cup of rocket with the hard stalks attached.
The burger was dry and tasteless and way to thick.
We order sav blanc and received chardaony for the prices and quality I cannot recommend.

We had the buffet breakfast every morning. Very popular. Always crowded at breakfast. I was surprised they had chia seeds, dried fruits and other healthy foods. The omelette chef was also very obliging. This was in addition to the scrambled eggs. Ā Usual suspects such as bacon and sausages were present. There was a barista for the morning buffet. Ā Staff were friendly and helpful but busy and sometimes overworked at the rush periods. Worth a visit if you are staying at the hotel.

Pretty ordinary. Tiny oysters, missed putting the garnish described on the menu on a meal. Wrong bread choice for the dukkah and oil (wouldn't pick up the dukkah). Over-priced for what you get.

With the Truffle Season upon us, the only sensible thing to do was to travel toĀ Canberra and see how these amazing balls of black gold grow. But not before demolishing a truffle filled dinner first. This was conveniently located at Red Salt in the Crowne Plaza Canberra.

A long wait. I've been here twice. Once of valentines day and on Christmas day.
My valentines visit was good. They were able to seat us without a reservation, and I don't recall any issues with the food or service.
However, when I went on Christmas there were a number of issues.
It was later at night, so it wasn't busy at all in the restaurant (don't know about room service), but we waited around an hour between ordering our food and receiving it. Far too long for: 1 steak, an entree and 3 serves of chips. People who arrived well after us recieved their meals long before we did.
My entree was really disappointing too. It was a cold entree, which apparently most of the entrees are, but it wasn't advertised as being so.
If I had of known I wouldn't have ordered it, as it was a lamb chop and they aren't my taste when cold. It also had way too much fat left on it to be served cold. The meat itself had a fine coating of fat over it, which meant it just tasted waxy and bad.
I also requested they leave out the papaya it was served with, as I was in early pregnancy and shouldn't have been eating it, and yet papaya was on the plate.
Really disappointing for the price.
After waiting so long and getting a meal that wasn't properly described we were offered a choice of free dessert or 10% off our bill.

The buffet breakfast has not failed to deliever qaulity food prepared well, delievered by friendly attentive, professoinal staff. although our visit today revealed they no longer serve waffles, everything else on their extensive menu was there. the chef was there to prepare eggs and omlettes to order as was their great barista. the entire breakast staff are excellent and one of the best advertisments any business could have. the best value for quality breakfast in canberra.

Apart from your regular buffet fixtures (hash browns, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms) thereā€™s also an egg station where a chef will make your eggs to order. We went for the Omelette with the Lot (tomato and capsicum salsa and Spanish Onions) which was a tasty way to start the day.
