Review Pizza Arte - Canberra

Dan Pearse
Nice pizza! Place is hard to find as it is not your typical retail outlet...I thought it was a garage when I drove past. I would love to rate it 5* but the cost is slightly high for what it is (owners know they have a good thing going...damn you...I'll be back for more next time I visit Canberra).

Wow on holidays and wanted a quick dinner. We really enjoyed these. Authentic, wood fired, and reasonably priced. Great find đź‘Ź

Amazing woodfired pizza, simple yet perfect. The prawn pizza is to die for, delicious every single time!

What a sneaky little gem. So strange from the street. But the number 4 (Picante i think) with extra bacon. Top notch pizza. Beautiful base and crust. Not oily. Will definitely hit it again whilst in Canberra.

Beautiful Pizza definitely would recommend if you want great pizza

Some of the best pizza I've had, and the only place I buy pizza in Canberra. Menu is a *little* pricey but the family sized pizzas are huge, making them pretty good value, plus it's great to pay a little more for good quality food, while supporting a lovely family business. Beautiful woodfired pizza crusts with simple, delicious toppings.

I haven't been to this place in a decade and regarded it then, as the best pizza in Aus! I wasn't disappointed. The base was incredible and the toppings were great. Despite it being a Saturday and very busy they churned it out in 10mins and it wasn't undercooked either!

Great authentic wood fired pizza. Prawn pizza is not to be missed.

A lovely family run business that serve the best pizza in Canberra! I can't recommend this place enough! I have eaten here since they opened and the quality and service has always been fantastic.

My absolute favourite pizza restaurant in Canberra.

Delicious pizza, hand crafted and made with love.

Yes it's pricey, but so satisfying.

Ambience: n/a takeaway only
Staff: 7/10
Food: 10/10

Eftpos available.

It was a sensuous Sunday night, the clouds grinned in yellow delight as the sun began its heavenly descent behind the brooding blue hills of Canberra. A careless wind caresses my forehead, and I sigh in orgasmic delight. How nice. A juicy scent surrounds me, like a soft snuggle. Pizza Arte is open for business. The door jingles a welcome, and I enter with delight, already salivating everywhere. My clothes are very wet. How nice. I whimsically order my pizza, and I sit, enveloped in the warm glow of YooHoo and Friends (incidentally, my FAVOURITE tv show!!!!!!). It feels as though no time has passed when my ears are gently caressed by the melodic voice of an angel, informing me that my pizza is ready. How nice. What follows is an experience whose beauty transcends verbiage. The sensation of the delightful crunch of the base is only surpassed by the feeling of warm, gooey, dripping, soft, supple, creamy cheese caressing my inner mouth walls. How nice.

In closing, pizza was 10/10, servers were 11/10. How nice.

Delicious thin based pizza, highly recommend. They are happy to do 1/2-1/2 on their family sized pizzas so we had one 1/2 margarita, 1/2 tropical for the kids and one 1/2 vegetarian, 1/2 picante for us. Perfect amount of food for a hungry family. A bit pricey at $56 for 2 pizzas but delicious all the same.

Best ever Tiramisu --- and the pizza is awesome. Because it's fresh, homemade and toppings are straightforward it's also easy to eat without getting a side of guilt. Best pizza in Canberra, especially as it comes without the guilt.

Did you know that in Kingston, there is a house where you can buy pizza from its backyard? Okay, so backyard pizza sounds a little dodgy, but it’s completely legit. Pizza Arte has been open for 17 years, first opening its backyard in 1999, and has since been run by the same Romanian family. They only offer take away pizza, howver there is a small gazebo next to the entrance which you might be able to sit in during the warmer months.

Pizza Arte serves wood fired pizzas out of an old little house in Kingston, not far from the main restaurant strip. We grabbed a potato and rosemary topped pizza and loved it. The toppings are generous and the wood fired oven gives the bases a unique flavour. Worth checking out in our opinion.

Ladies and gentlemen of Canberra, how is it that none of you have told me about this place before?! Oh my! I was feeling very lazy on a Friday night and driving through Kingston, I decided to treat myself to pizza for dinner – I saw the sign for Pizza Arte and went in, keen to try something different. Pizza Arte dishes up woodfired pizzas that are cooked while you wait (if you didn’t order ahead, like me) – and cooked fast. I ordered a small ($13) Marinara, and sat there for less than 10 minutes before my pizza was ready. Wow. I took it home to devour, and devour it I did! The base was lovely and thin, and had a beautiful smoky charring around the edges, making it nice and crisp. The toppings were perfection – kalamata olives, capers and anchovies – all incredibly tasty (and salty), and in authentic Italian proportions (i.e. just enough). What really surprised me was the huge flavour packed into the tomato base sauce – wow. I noticed that they sell jars of it, so on my next Friday night pizza run, I’ll definitely snap one up to try. Serious pizza love.

Used to be a favourite - now the pizzas are flat, chewy and unreliable. Ordered the pumpkin and got no
Blue cheese. Sad to see a great place turn well below average.

The five is for the value and quality for money for a takeaway. Surprised about other peoples reviews for wait times. We usually order, get in the car, and 10 mins later it's ready or well on the way. usually the 'less is more' philosophy is served which is soooooo good. Some pizzas are suited to this better than others - our favs are picante, Arte special, capriciosa. Perfect wood fired smokey sometimes slightly charred base - epitome of good pizza

Room for improvement, 90 min wait for delivery (I was warned delivery would take an hour), pizza arrived warm but potato was undercooked, didn't stop me from eating it though.

Sunset gently caressed the undulating clouds. With tenderness the clouds warmly embraced the autumn tones. Light from the lamp below intensified as the sunny skies made way for the midnight blue. Sweet scented perfume playfully lured in the cool sensation of the zephyr. The evening stirred. Pizza Arte was open for business. Just like girls on the avenue, they know how to get you in. 10 minutes for a wood fired Aussie pizza...

Sometimes you crave a big pizza all to yourself. The last time for me was back in 2013 when I got a 20... all to myself at Homeslice at Seven Dials... Disappointed overall. The pizzas were decent quality but I did feel slightly unsatisfied (not dissatisfied) at the end. My favourite pizzas of all time (other than the simple fresh passata and buffalo mozzarella in Rome) have had anchovies or capers or speck or proscuitto. So I think I probably just like much heavier seasoning/salt with my pizzas. I still have half a calzone, 3/4 family prawn pizza and half a small garlic pizza left. I'll easily get through it and it should satisfy my pizza needs until I decide to recreate Franco Manca's recipe for the 2nd time.
