Review Italian Continental Bakery - Canberra

I take my daughter here. She loves it. The pastries are quite nice, and milkshakes rich. Service can be a bit slow

This is my favourite dessert place. They have the best canoli and tiramisu. I had a light lunch there and it was ok, not the best. But the desserts were delicious.

One of my favourite coffee shops in the southside of Canberra. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, which I cannot say for all cafes in Canberra. There are a wide range of beautiful Italian pastries on offer. But if you come later in the afternoon you are faced with empty cabinets, which highlights the popularity of the place. Coffee is pretty good and is serviced at the ideal temperature. The staff are friendly. All in all your visit is first class experience.

The $5 minimum is completely unacceptable in 2022 and a shameless cash grab to customers. A bakery should never be allowed to have these ridiculous systems. I can't even begin to grasp how much money they must loose.

I bought 2 custard doughnuts yesterday from the cafe and ate 1 of it at night. Most part of the doughnut was fine but there was a part that had uncooked dough. At first we ate on thinking that the soggy part was custard but it tasted bitter and not quite right so upon closer examination, we realised that it was uncooked dough. It was in the part closest to the center of the doughnut so it may not have had enough time in the fryer. When I called the cafe to inform them of the issue, all I got was someone who was more concerned with blatantly denying anything was wrong with the product than finding out about my experience. In her own words, "you might get sick eating bad custard, BUT you cannot get sick eating uncooked dough". I would have accepted an apology or a refund. Because of the nonchalant behaviour of your staff in regard to this food safety issue, I had to post a review. I sent a message to your facebook page and expected an answer, but no, no reply. I certainly hope that my feedback can be passed on to the kitchen. I husband had a loss of appetite for the whole of today and vomited once last night after having the doughnut.

Took a remarkably long time to place an order during a fairly quiet period but coffee came quickly thereafter. Decent strong cappuccino. Delicious soft cannoli which is worth a trip just for this alone.

A vibrant and busy coffee shop in Southlands Mawson. Lots of fresh baked cakes and pastries. Also serves tasty meals.

I really like the chips the made, it is at excellent perfection, no burns, crispy, but a little bit too much salt. the pastries at the high standards.

It would be good if the poached eggs weren’t hard boiled, and it was presented well. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The meal was good, well priced however the tight wad management wouldn’t cover the price to let me put another tea and donut on my card after already spending near $30.00 on a breakfast. They are either pocketing the cash or are too tight to ware the 1.5% surcharge that I would have been more then happy to pay on such a small amount. I will never eat here again after the rudeness of their management nor will I be recommending anyone to eat here any time soon. Well done on the worst service I have had in Canberra for a long time you cheepscates.

Italian Continental Bakery is the best! Highly recommend the cannoli and the jam donuts. They sell out quickly, especially on the weekend, so it's good to get in quick.

The cannolis are fantastic. The breakfasts are simple but delicious, great value for money. Unfortunately, the cronuts don't have the texture of croissants at all, they are basically donuts - perhaps they mislabeled them?

Brunetti's? Nope, this is better. On any night in Carlton, you can go to Brunetti's where the queues are out the door for the pastries. That's great...because the pastries at the Italian Continental Bakery are better than Brunetti's. And the queues are shorter, the coffee is better and the service is great.

Any weekend stopover in Canberra is worth a trip to Mawson for the rum baba, the conchigli or any one of the fine custard filled choux pastries.

Suddenly, the weekend work in Canberra is a bit more bearable.

Reminds me of being in Italy!. Love this place, it's all authentic Italian pastries and coffee, a rarity in Canberra. Love the custard filled doughnuts, I used to buy ones just like them at the markets in Florence!

They have been renovated!!. I have been coming here for years, and the shop looks AMAZING!!

They finally have a proper line forming too and they have Eftpos! Unfortunately they have a $15 minimum though but I for one am definitely glad they have it now regardless.

The service is still number 1! The cannoli are still the best and they have such a large variety of cakes and they are all so good! I love the concigllia. They still have their pies and pizza slices and bainmarie items but they also have menus on all of the tables that have replaced all the big menu boards that were on the wall so now it is much easier for ordering. Unfortunately they have reduced the variety of focaccias and bruschetta because they were my favourite but I tried the veal with mushrooms by the request of the barista and it is definitely my new favourite!

The coffee is simply fantastic, always hot and consistent in quality, the barista has been there a long time and he definitely knows what he is doing! I saw a review saying that his coffee is bad but I have no idea what that person is talking about, if this isn't good coffee then I don't know what is! I highly recommend! I also tried one of his banana smoothies and it was amazing.

Great cakes, snacks and meals.. Very popular, and the service is fast. Order at the counter, and remember who is next in 'line', because the staff are generally confronted with a wall of customers.

Sugar-covered cannoli full of custard is my go-to food from this place, and goes out the door in boxes accompanied by jam donuts, delicate sfogliatelle, dusted palmiers, handmade chocolates or any number of sweet biscuits or cakes.

Either side of the cabinet exhibiting trophies and ribbons awarded for the bread, are three flavours of pizza on one side and hot pies, sausage rolls and pasties on the other.

Past the long cabinet of sweets are pre-made hot snacks: calzone and bacon/egg rolls, delicately-flavoured spinach and ricotta triangles and fried French toast, and mushroom or tomato bruschetta.

The barista is responsible for all the drinks. He's friendly, personable and efficient and I can't figure out why he can't produce a good coffee, even by accident. I've come to the conclusion it must be the blend. He makes an Italian frappe with the same blend.

As food goes, I've just touched the tip of the proverbial. There is a full breakfast menu. Including a perfect eggs benedict. If you're broke you can get a bread roll with jam and butter for 50c.

Breakfast stops at 11 and lunch starts, a large blackboard menu of breads, salads, pasta, focaccia, panini, risotto, schnitzels, and perhaps other meat dishes that I have ignored. I'm sure there must be prawns on there too. I love their anchovy bread and the chips which you can order on their own or with the schnitzels. For this reason, I haven't tried much of the rest.

I got annoyed when I went there at 315 on a weekend (yes, I know, they close at 330) only to be told I couldn't order a coffee because they'd turned the machine off. I wasn't impressed by this.

Good Value. Coffee is great and the breakfast is great value. The staff were fine as far as I'm concerned. Gee, what do people expect these days? To be hand fed? Wake up!!! This is the place to do so - you're half way there :)

Popular spot for great Italian home cooking, great cakes and coffee, and friendly staff

Get ready for some major sweet dessert porn. The Italian Continental Bakery & Cafe in Mawson has been on my list of eateries to visit for years. I hear good things from work colleagues who make the short drive from the Woden town centre for a quick lunch, and other friends who've had some of the traditional Italian pastries. One morning, a bunch of us were about to hike up Mt Tennent and decided to all meet at the Italian Continental Bakery & Cafe beforehand to fill up on some goodies. There's indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of locals enjoying coffee and breakfast. First of all - CRONUTS! There were 3 types that day - chocolate, vanilla and salted caramel. I could these were filled with cream or custard in the middle. There's a mouthwatering assortment of cannoli, Italian doughnuts, custard doughnuts, macarons and biscuits. And lots of cream filled pastries such as eclairs and bigne that caught my eye. I didn't want to be too full hiking up and I had already eaten breakfast, so

I always knew that the Italian Continental bakery existed but I never went in for when I make the effort to bustle my way through Mawson, it was always for Bruno’s cannoli. This time I was specifically here for one thing: Italian Continental bakery’s cronuts. They had renovated since I’ve last snuck a peek and there were many people inside to get away from the cold and get their fill of Italian sweets. I made TimmyC line up as I went to inspect the long cake cabinet. Tarts, profiteroles, eclairs, cannolis and there it was… Cronuts! They had two flavours that morning: chocolate and vanilla, we opted for vanilla although I was hoping for salted caramel, but while we were getting served we couldn’t resist also getting an eclair and baked cannoli. I didn’t really pay attention to how much everything was, all I know is that it came to $9.80 and I handed my money over like a zombie as I continued to stare into their cake display. I was on the hunt for pastry this morning and I couldn’t make
