Review 332 Manhattan Cafe - Canberra

Matt Barwick
Had lunch here recently. Some of the best ribs and wings in Canberra. Large portions and good value. Great service. I'll be back soon for sure. The only downside was the decor was a little odd but who cares really when the food is so tasty!

A fun casual atmosphere. Outstanding use of colors and textures. Staff was prompt, friendly and efficient. My ommlet was a perfect blending of ham, cheese and mushrooms. My wife's eggs on toast was a complete hit.

Cosy cafe situated in a convenient location in the heart of Canberra. Decor was quirky but interesting, there was books, artwork and board games to suit all tastes, and even a lizard. Also, the amenities in the bathroom were quite generous, including cologne and dry shampoo. From our experience at breakfast, food was sub-par. Our drink and our meal did not come at the same time, despite requesting so while ordering. Also the "freshly squeezed orange juice" had refrigerated juice added to it. The breakfast burger ordered did not sit well in the stomach either, so will not be returning.

I recently had an operation & could’nt consume anything solid. I kindly asked if I could sit and have some coffee but consume a tiny bit of my own yogurt whilst outside and the chef very rudely said “Definitely NOT”. I felt very embarrassed and uncomfortable. It’s not as if I was bringing a whole meal with me or not ordering anything of the menu & they only had one other customer in the cafe at that time.

Coffee smelt amazing and the mains we tried was fantastic. Ambience was bright and relaxing although there was a lack of a seating when we visited. It's not a huge place so I would try to avoid peak times so as to have a relaxing experience.

With its modern/rustic setting, piquant coffee choices from local coffee legends London Street Roasters and interesting cafe styled food combinations 332 Manhattan is an experience to enjoy. 332 Manhattan's friendly service and great coffee has made it a favourite of the locals. Set near the beautiful Glebe park in Canberra's city, take in the view while enjoying some breakfast, I recommend the Manhattan Granola or the Scrambled Eggs and Black Truffle. Come in for lunch, or why not share a plate on Thursday and Friday evening before hitting the town. They also supply an interesting array of local produce used on their menu, allowing you to try before you buy. If you are looking for a place to relax, rest your feet and enjoy great food and drinks I recommend 332 Manhattan.

Terrible place for dinner! If my kids arent sick from the chicken pasta tomorrow (which was san remo fettucine plus button mushrooms and frozen-thawed chicken swimming in cream - for which they charged $24), I'll change my review. The ribs tasted odd and we had assumed they'd served the half serve by the small pprtion but charged the full-plate $37 for 4 pieces). Head up the road and avoid this dingy freezing-cold hole with a waitress without interest or clue and a cook who's clearly incompetent.

Came for a work lunch. Others seemed to enjoy it and the staff were nice but my salad was awful. I ordered the haloumi salad which, according to the menu, was supposed to have sweet potato chips . It came out with no sweet potato (substituted for raw carrot). The salad was basically a handful of salad greens, some carrot, some mushrooms, one random bit of red capsicum, pine nuts and a very small amount of haloumi (maybe 6 1x1 inch cubes). Dressing, if there was any, was bland. It cost $22. Others in the group had burgers which they seemed to enjoy and were much more reasonably priced ($15). Kind of still in shock that my vegetarian salad was so much more pricy than a burger full of meat.
