Review Global Cafe And Bar - Canberra

Milennial Zero
Excellent. Don’t forget to try the pumpkins. I love the injera bread. Have been bringing my work mates here for years. Love this place.
Rice is life

Absolutely love this place for a quick, cheap tasty eat - simply cannot beat the service and value for money. For $9.00 you can choose three mains (out of around five, depends what is made for the day) with rice or injera, the latter being an interesting vinegary bread. Vegetarian options are available. Food is delicious - really tasty and not too fiery at all (quite mild actually). Serving portions are very generous so you will definitely not leave hungry :-). On the day we came we couldn't decide between the rice and injera so the lady kindly provided us with a half-share of both - great service and even more so as this was during a quite busy lunch service. Café is very clean and offers seating both inside and out of the pavement. Café is quite unassuming on busy Northbourne so it is easy to miss but please take the time to find it - definitely worth your while!!

A very simple place, but great food and affordable.

Honestly the best place I've ever eaten. They are so friendly, and the food is amazing! Lots of options for people with dietary requirements too, I believe teff flour is gluten free, and there's vegetarian options too - I always bring my friends here. My favourite food in Canberra ❤

Excellent food. Ideal for lunch. Quick service, generous portions and cheap.

I wish I could put 0. The owner refused to serve my friends and partner including a child because my friend is from Eritrea. He said he has the rights to refuse whoever he wants. My partner is Ethiopian and we tried to reason with the guy who said it's his rights to serve who ever he wasnts in his RACIST restaurant. Disgusting!!!

This is one of my favourite spots for a quick lunch in Canberra. The selection is just right and always very good quality. There are a number of vegetarian options, including pumpkin. The beef curry is very well done too. At less than $10 for lunch it is hard to beat in Canberra.

Fantastic service and quality. The injera is made with real imported Ethiopian teff which is rare in Aust. Ordered vegetarian dishes which were all spot on.

The food is simple, but delicious, the injera is just the best. Service is super friendly and helpful. The ambiance isn't anything to write home about, but comfortable. One of the most satisfying meal experiences for the price.

Most Canberrans have never heard of this place but it is without doubt one of the hidden jewels of Canberra. The food is seriously delicious! Yes it’s a small menu and the place looks a bit no-frills from the outside, but what they do, they do very well! Think tasty, filling and wholesome curries with the famous fermented Injera bread. Plus the owners are very polite and friendly and it’s super cheap! The only thing missing is a dessert menu – possibly for the best! If you want to eat there on a weekend make sure you call ahead as they usually only open Monday to Friday.

Located centrally on Northbourne Ave, next to the corner chemist, the Global Cafe doesn’t look much from the outside. But the food is wonderful and the hospitality generous and welcoming. Meat & Veg Combination $18.90.  Vegetarian Combination $15.90   (both includes rice and extra injera) The combination injera meal serve sizes are large and made for sharing. There is no corkage cost for wine. This might just be the very best value in town.

You wouldn’t know it from the relatively drab exterior on the Northbourne Avenue, between the late night Pharmacy and the interstate Bus Exchange, but this place hides an Ethiopian gastronomic adventure.

Service was very casual and friendly and with everything already cooked you can have a cheap fast lunch here with little effort. The curries were somewhat flavoursome and it was great to see such a variety in flavours but not working in the city and having to find a car park, I don’t think it was that fantastic that I would come out of my way to eat here again, even if it is $8.00 for the lunch special.<br/>
