Review Pride Of Siam - Canberra

We went at 8pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was deserted - not a good sign. But we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and have dinner there. Lovely decor, a nice water feature, but that's really all it had going for it. The food was average at best, not even that hot, but the portions were good. We ordered 2 starters, 2 mains and a rice. We didn't even get one of the starters despite being the only table in the restaurant - it's not like the kitchen was rushed off their feet! Though we were still charged at the end of the night. No one else entered the restaurant all the time we were there, and yet none of the three staff on duty cleaned the table and floor by us that had bits of food all over it, nor did they check on us during the meal (where we could have told the, about the missing satay) and it took quite a while after we finished (despite having neatly stacked the plates at the far edge of the table, waiter habits kicking back in!) for them to collect the dirty plates. Instead, the servers were just watching videos on their phones behind the bar. All in all, we were very disappointed and will not be coming back - a pity as we like Thai food and the decor is lovely there!

I really wanted to like this place because it's my local Thai restaurant but the food was not great at all. We were a little worried to be the only ones in the restaurant on a Friday night but we soon realised why. The restaurant itself is very warm and comfortable so I give it 2 stars for that.

Questionable at best.. $17.5 for burnt tofu, warm tomato and soggy cucumber in a flavorless sauce. Disappointed

Poor service. Table was sticky; plates made a noticeable thwack when lifted. Siam probably has better things to be proud of.

I liked it. Maybe too authentic for those that have no appetite for real Thai.

Standard menu, spicy. Nice place and staff.

Really good Thai food. We had takeaway and ordered again the next night. The red duck curry and fish cakes are a benchmark for us and they were both great. Well worth a try. We will eat there soon as the restaurant seems nice.

It can be difficult to find a restaurant that has a pleasant setting, is willing to close it’s doors to take a private booking for 100 people and still offer BYO wine ($4 per bottle) and a three course meal (suitable for special dietary requirements) for $20 per person. Pride of Siam, co-located with the Croatian Soccer Club behind the Deakin shops is a gem.

Best beef or lamb massaman, great stirfrys and spring rolls, ok green curry, quick takeaways, I like to support suburban businesses. Probably a good restaurant for big groups.

Pride of Siam , is a little known suburban gem in Deakin that is a stronger contender for one of Canberra’s top Thai restaurants! Don’t be discouraged by the exterior or if it’s quiet when you enter. The decor is very pleasant, staff are gracious and attentive, the food is very delicious and the value is exceptional.
