Great food, great service, and great $9 lunch specials! We came for tapas one night, and ordered chicken and potato croquettes (nice but heavy) and the crispy pork with pineapple and yoghurt (also delicious, but quite heavy food after awhile). Still, we were very impressed and returned the next day for lunch. Beautiful inventive salads!
There are great specials available, so my friends and I visited on a thursday night for a few drinks and their 2 for 1 burgers. All burgers are $18 each and come with a side of chips and aioli, and on thursdays that's even better value. I chose the lamb burger which has a rosemary hash brown, beetroot relish, slices of cherry tomato, lettuce and spring onion, and sour cream. The burger was delicious and full of sauces that ran down your hand- not the neatest food option for going out for drinks but was full of flavour and tasty. The service and drinks were also great, but nothing exceptional that you wouldn't find at other bars. Seating in the downstairs bar is a little difficult for larger groups (more than 5).
My colleagues in Canberra were regularly keen to get away from the office for a team lunch. On one of these occasions, we made our way to Treehouse in the Sydney Building, located on Northbourne Ave to partake in their $9 lunch menu, available Wednesday to Friday from 12pm. The selection of $9 lunches were displayed on a blackboard downstairs and we were all drawn to an item. Ordering our lunch was easy. Seeing as though our group had 6 people, we were directed upstairs for a larger table. Our booth seats overlooked the bar downstairs through the branches of one of the beautifully lit trees within the venue. Not only was there a $9 lunch special, but Treehouse also offer a $3 drink special from Wednesday to Fridays, which includes Monteiths cider (pictured), house red or white wine, beer or soft drink. Jake started with a dozen of Clyde River oysters ($15), served with a pinot vinaigrette granita. Our waitress told us that the oysters were freshly bought to Canberra from the South Coast. A popular lunch choice was the togarashi spiced calamari with green apple, cucumber and wasabi. I loved this dish – the calamari were crunchy but soft inside, with the apple and wasabi flavour was a winning combination. Two of my colleagues ordered the vegetarian penne, with asparagus, pine nuts and parmesan. There were no complaints, but both colleagues mentioned the generous size of the serving. I loved our cheap and cheerful lunch at Treehouse. After this visit, our team spoke about it becoming a regular. It’s a great little venue for a relaxed, delicious
Check out the Wednesday deals!. Went in for a quick bite to eat and a beer on a Wednesday night. With a "Roller" and a schooner of beer for $10 advertised it was hard to resist! got the "haloumi, hummus and saffron salsa" roller, with nice big portions of haloumi, its bun was nicely toasted and the saffron salsa had me salivating, I'll definitely be back to check out the other rollers! such a good deal!
The Treehouse on Northbourne Avenue (near London Circuit in the Sydney Building) is better known as a bar than one of Canberra’s hidden affordable eats. The food here is also a good example of why I prefer to say “affordable eats” rather than “cheap eats”. Although the price of their lunch specials is “cheap” the quality is far better than one would expect for a $9 meal. Here’s the menu for the lunch specials, which only run Wednesday to Friday. There are other specials that run during different days and times of the week. On my first trip I did ask for the braised osso bucco as recommended by my friend Eileen (@TheFoodAvenue) however I had arrived a bit late in the lunch period and they had sold out. Instead I ordered the char-grilled calamari, and I was not disappointed! You probably noticed a near-empty beer glass in the picture above? boy was I thirsty that day :) Yes, along with the $9 lunch special there is a $3 drink special and it includes some very
I didn’t know that Treehouse served food but I recently saw a banner promoting two for one burgers on Thursday! After checking out their menu and seeing the options, I figured why not, $9 for a burger and some fries, that would be a pretty tasty dinner. So we headed over after work one Thursday night to sample Treehouse’s burgers. Looks like they also have lunch specials on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The options looked pretty good too but I think it constantly changes, like one week I noticed that Treehouse was doing a truffle pasta and the next week it was gone, so check it out on their website, Treehouse $9 lunch special . Anyway, onwards to our burgers. First up, the Double beef cheeseburger with chips and aioli ($18) , two beef patties with caramelised onion, pickles, tomato and mustard. This was really yummy. Two juicy and flavourful beef patties tucked into a lightly toasted sesame bun which absorbed a
I like this place so much more when it's not a nightclub. Did a group painting session here and it was fantastic- great space - good staff and fantastic cocktails
Delightful bar for a long or short stay. Excellent range of gins. Staff are friendly and helpful. DJ and dancefloor. Sit downstairs or up.
A lovely function venue, with comfortable seating upstairs and a nice view of downstairs. Catering platters were among the tastier ones I've tried! Passionfruit spritz cocktail is quite potent.
Treehouse is a fun, exciting bar located in Canberra's city centre. It is small and cosy but lovely. The inside is decorated with fairy lights on tree's and staff serve wonderful cocktails and drinks. Try the blue waterfall, one of my favourites. Drink prices are similar to most places in Canberra so don't expect a cheap drink. Nice place to have a dance later in the evening and listen to modern music.
