Review Soul Origin - Canberra

Thien Vuong (fooderarri)
Noting some of the previous reviews I decided to go vegetarian as I had concerns they were going to give minimal meat. I chose bocconcini and falafel salad as these could quickly be served to me. I actually couldn't taste a lot of falafel, and it was quite plain and mostly greens. The staff member also dropped the serving spoon and some of the salads fell into another salad as well. She needs to be careful not to mix them in future as it could affect the taste. I've had much better salad but at least it was quick. Yours truly @fooderarri

Terrible customer service. A misunderstanding with an online order turned into the store owner telling us that we had no common sense and making a scene in front of several customers. Over $200 of an online order thrown out without any correspondence and the owner of the store told us “I cannot help you with that”. Will not be returning and will be advising friends, family and anyone that asks to steer clear. I would leave zero stars if I could.

Pulled pork salad. With no pulled pork. $9 for a kale and cabbage pile. So bland and no flavour, I think 3 pieces of pulled pork, minute size. I knew I shouldn't have risked it, these places are always a con with salad. I was right. Shame on you Soul Origin! Soul-less more like it. It will be a $6 sandwich at woolies next time.

Ordered a salami panini the other day, after seeing it displayed with mozzarella and pesto. Little did I realize, the mozzarella and pesto I saw was the only ones on the roll. Obviously put at the front to misrepresent what was in the roll. Very disappointed.

Thanks for the chicken schnitzel salad - 3 microscopic strips of chicken, 1 tiny bit of what may have been capsicum and 1 of tomato, I think. For the remainder, you assume the customer enjoys green leaves.

I have mostly gone here but today i had a worst experience. I was waiting for coffee andnext customer asked if that was her coffee which was not hers which barista was making. She looked a bit worried that she was first waiting for coffee just to make easy for her as another customer i said she was waiting before me i can wait not keeping in my that two coffee can be made at once, but the so called barista in a way replied i can make two at once. I replied ok yeah sorry. I took my coffe and was not passed away from there too she started saying back to me in their language ‘she is a customer don’t tell me what to do i know what i am doing’ seriously just for that simple line i said. That was so rude and even i wasn’t away i was right there hearing it. What a great customer service it was 😡

I did not eat from this store and I never will. I saw one of the workers getting out from cubical in rest room. He did not wash hands. Then, I saw him going into the stands and started working.

Offering a wide range of delicious looking gourmet salads and sandwiches/wraps/baguettes/tortillas/ paninis at take-away prices, there is also a small among of pleasant seating available. Soul Origin also very helpfully displays the kilojoules in the different options and sizes both at the counter and on-line, so you can make an informed decision.

Great coffee! great sandwiches!
Would definitely recommend as a healthy light lunch! Staff seem like happy friendly people and is a lovely addition to the woden plaza

Soul Origin, in my opinion, is comparative to the annual iPhone upgrade - it's better quality, looks a bit nicer and just feels that little bit slimmer when it's on your body.

I thought I'd try out Soul Origin whilst at the Woden Centre and I was really surprised at how well made the food is. The flavours they manage to pack into it are rich and authentic, this surprises me as Soul Origin, by nature is still a food court meal, however, it definitely does not taste like it, the food is fresh, well priced and flavoursome!

Great quick eat! Two thumbs up Soul Origin, you guys are upping the food court experience 🌡

This comment applies to the Belconnen outlet of Soul Origin, but might as well just apply to any other cookie-cutter franchise. Staff young and inexperienced. If you have food intolerances, better look up their website for their allergen information first because the staff simply don't know any better. Food OK, tastes fresh which is the most important thing for salad bars. One concern is that what is available on the day does nto always match what is advertised on the website - for example their brown rice salad was actually white rice, and several ingredients were missing, which were advertised as being in that particular salad.
Soul origin does not give you the option to "make your own" like Sumo salad does, but then again, this may not be a bad thing since when I tried to build my own salad at Sumo, the staff with limited English language skills simply didn't quite understand and I had to repeat myself several times, eventually just pointing to a picture of the required ingreidents - even after all this, they still got the order wrong. I notice that a number of food outlets now try to get you to order online first, and just pick-up without interacting with staff. Maybe this is why ?

Good range of salads and sandwiches to be had. I had a medium size of two types and to be honest that were both pretty bland. I guess that's why they ask if you want dressing. Coffee was passable. Store and food look inviting enough but didn't quite deliver for me.
