It’s true the service standards is very poor here, especially if you expect table service but you have to stand up to get the attention of the waitress. Also a little disappointed that Gaamja Tang needs to be preordered before coming in. If you’re planning to compete with Rogane the Korean Restaurant next you need to out do the competition.
However aesthetics are really nice and finally having Jja Jang Myon in Canberra is also a plus.

I went on a Friday night. The place has very tasty Korean food and is worth a try.
It appears that it's managed by Chinese Australians - it was difficult to be understood by the staff when speaking Korean or English, but they could speak Mandarin. This doesn't affect the quality of the food though. We all agreed it was delicious.
A couple of drawbacks are that the place was quite hot on the summer evening we were there - the A/C wasn't effective at the time of visit.
The other hitch was that it was busy - the restaurant was understaffed and it took a little long to get our orders taken and for food to come out.
That said, when available, the staff were very friendly and very happy to help. They seemed stressed though!

Great little restaurant. Great quality of food. We went there on a whim and what a pleasant surprise. Staff are friendly it was really nice to be there. Slightly pricey but it was good food. Wasn't disappointed. Thank you team at Hot spoon!

AMAZING Korean fried chicken. Crunchy, succulent, beautifully seasoned and freshly fried. Sweet & spicy sauce was spot on, impressive that the chicken was still crispy with the sauce. Side dishes appetizing. Pickled radish was perfect palate cleanser for fried chicken. Definitely would visit again.

One of the best Korean restaurants in Canberra, recommend the kimchi pancake, which is always on point. If you're not afraid of eating raw beef, the yukhoe bibimbap is also really good

Not having too many consistently-good korean dining options here in Canberra, I stumbled cautiously into this restaurant at the northern K-end of Dickson and was pleasantly surprised. (Having eaten at least weekly at Manhattan's 24hr K-town for nearly 2 years, trying to find a down under equivalent has been hard). HotSpoon lives up to its name as the chef took seriously my request for "extra" spicy big bone soup and delivered a flavoursome rich stew that was da bomb! Quality of their banchan (fishcake, broccoli, kimchi) was good too. We'll be back to try their other dishes.

The lunch specials are pretty good and strongly recommend it!
But the water they serve you tastes like toilet water which they try and hide with lemon
Strongly recommend a water filter!
