Review Railroad Restaurant - Canberra

KEDAR SHAH
Small but a convenient railway station. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The building has a good waiting room with plenty of seating, toilets and a couple of vending machines. I suspect the traffic isn't enough to run a proper canteen on premises. Cat parking is right next to the waiting area and has a good amount of parking spots.

From time to time you can take the old steam train out to Bungendore. Kids all felt they were off to Hogwarts as the old carriages had the separated 8-passenger compartments - good for travelling as a private party. Lots of whistle blowing, plenty of train spotters waving as we passed, smoke and steam seeping in as we went through tunnels. Real world excitement for a change!

Parking can be a problem at times but overall the waiting room is spacious and access to toilets is easy. There are taxis and buses to you into the city and it doesn't take long to get off or on the train. All in all it is a good railway station.

Only train station of Canberra with lot of parking outside and waiting room inside.

A small station offering 3 services a day to and from Sydney, with connections to other services via train or coach. There is a food kiosk on board with hot meals available at meal times and snacks, sandwiches and drinks at other times. Wine and beer is served after 11am.

Canberra to Sydney was a bit of a let down. 4.5/5 for the views, but the train ride was pretty average. Squeeking loudly a lot and shaking a lot, and the seats were a bit worse than an aeroplane's. I'll get the bus next time. 🚍

Don't expect much from our capital's train station. Food is vending machines and the station is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, just be prepared to be under whelmed and don't hang out for a coffee or a snack on your arrival
