Great Malay eats in Doncaster.

The place is an okay size, tad bit dim but not crampy. We were seated at a round table which was nice, staffs were really nice, food took a reasonable time to come out.

Yong tau foo (L) was huge, the fishballs were not fishy and texture was great, and big too! There were ones stuffed in bitter gourd, eggplant and broccoli, all were great.

Stir fried indian noodle (veg version) was really yummy, spiced really well, not oily and noodle had the right texture.

King prawn noodle was great as well, king prawn was juicy and quite big, egg noodle was cooked well, with sweet soy sauce poured over egg sauce. Huge portion and yums.

Ayam Kapitan (fried chicken) was great. It was well fried, not oily and the chicken was still juicy, flavor was on point as well.

Cuttlefish was yummmsie. They were soft but chewy, bit crispy on the outside and that sweet, sour and spicy sauce was so gooood.

Unfortunately the cendol was below average, the cendol itself was not chewy at all, just weird in texture and the soup was just okay, not that fragrant.

Overall a great place to go for a group/family style Malaysian meal with reasonable price.

Satisfying my craving with these amazing dishes from rasa malaya. I have heard great things about this place, which has been around for a long time. The crispy chicken was so tasty had the right amount of crisp. The soup was a nice addition to cleanse the palate. We also ordered the salt pepper pork and that was full of flavours, topped with garlic, spring onion and chilli. Love this place, would go back in a heartbeat

Having not been here for many years, it felt like a pleasant homecoming for me. The service has certainly improved significantly and the food seems to be better than before.

I really enjoyed the rainbow fish salad - this was extremely authentic and moderately addictive. The fresh ingredients and the variety of textures made it an amazing way to start our lunch.

The Hainanese chicken rice was a stand out. The tender, succulent pieces of chicken were cooked almost perfectly. The rice was fragrant and not overly oily.

The best dish of the day though was the cendol....it left me wanting more and I was tempted to lick the bowl inside out. There was just the right amount of coconut milk and brown sugar, reminiscent of the cendol from my childhood.

Loved the familiar flavours at Rasa Malaya and my next visit will not be years away.

Friendly Malaysian cafe that we’ve visited a few time for its good food. This time we got takeaway. We ordered the Singapore fried noodles which needed more flavour but the yee mee combination which delicious! The pastry on the curry puff was over fried but it still tasted good. We also tried the curry laksa previously which needed more kick in the soup

Went here for celebrations after I graduated from uni. First time having Malaysian and I have to say it's quite tasty as well as really affordable. We got the beef combination which was probably one of my favourites just because I'm a big beef fan as well as I loved the rice noodles. We also got the rasa Malaya sotong which was also nice (it's deep fried calamari in a tangy sauce) last time my mum went and she somehow got the calamari without the sauce and she said that was better. We also got fried rice which was a generous serving and didn't hold back on the ingredients. Last but not least was the sweet and sour pork which was my mums favourite. I'm not a big fan of sweet and sour stuff but I have to admit this was probably my favourite :)

This is always a go to favourite of ours. We love coming here and getting takeaway. The hokin noodles are amazing but nothing beats the lemon chicken.

Always great Malaysian food here. We Often get the hawker dishes to takeaway especially the Ipoh hor fun. When eating in this time we had the prawn on noodles which is like lobster noodles (if you eat this you'll know what I mean) but with big juicy prawns. There are often specials that are not on menu so make sure you ask. Unfortunately I was there when a large man was shouting and being very very aggressive towards a much smaller waitress - however she didn't back down and I was wondering whether I'd need to jump in case he got worse! Some people honestly have no manners.

Indian mee goreng.
Quaint restaurant environment, with very friendly staff. Indian mee gorang was surprisingly tasty, hint of curry flavouring with generous portions. Would recommend as a safe dish. Chinese tea was as expected.
Worth a look if you want something hearty.

Malaysian food will always have a special place in my tummy no matter where my feet bring me. I have recently been more engrossed in exploring the eastern suburbs for good feeds than venturing into the city as this enables me to get my fix quicker. Service here is friendly and nothing makes me happier than seeing staff members getting along well, something not commonly seen in most Asian restaurants.

I thought the food was good and service is definitely great. Though my last visit they left some rubber band in my food, but at least they were friendly and apologetic about it.

Combination Hor Fun - has wok hei and hor fun perfectly done 9/10. Curry Fish head - wow good serving size for under $25. Looks like their signature dish. Rockling fish was fresh with eggplant cooked to just the right texture. Ample of Orca and tau bok. 9/10 dish. Would be 10/10 if there were daun kosong, mint and tomato. Service was second to none 12/10 :) Reviewed by 80+yo Penang Nyonya sisters.e

Delicious Fish Head Curry, Hor Fun Combination was good, Yong Tau Fu needs to be more intensive in taste, my opinion.

We love this place. They serve shared main dishes as well as hawker style dishes. The waitresses wears uniforms that look like Singapore Airlines uniform. Fresh and authentic food. Definitely must try the fish head laksa. It's a massive dish but totally worth it.

LONG STANDING FAVOURITE FOR MALAYSIAN FOOD This restaurant has been serving good quality Malaysian and Cantonese food for ages in this location. It's a casual affair with friendly service and spacious interior. Has authentic Malaysian dishes as well as some Cantonese favourites. Very popular - particularly with the areas large Asian community. Parking in front or out the back behind building - can be a bit ferocious getting a park at times! In the same strip as a collection of other shops.

Without fail, this is the original Malaya that has set a standard that every Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne wants to beat. Every dish is exactly what you get and taste like over 30 years ago when they first started in Melbourne!! If want anything special, ask Alina. She is the friendliest manager you ever met in the restaurant scene. Try ordering ice kachang for one or for 10 people, then you know no where in Melbourne can a Malaysian restaurant do the taste and standard that they can do in ONE BOWL!!!
