Great value for money even if the food is average. The seafood twisters were very much just a snack to nibble on while we waited for our mains - they had very little seafood inside them. The fish was a little dry and a bit on the salty side too, which I guess would be okay if you have it with rice. The crab in bread box was the highlight. The flavour of the crab was great and the bread box was delicious. The portion sizes of the fish and crab were very generous.
The restaurant requires you to write down your own orders with a numbering system, which is common in Asian restaurants. Despite this, there was still decent service. As the bread box is cut open fresh at the table, our waitress even asked if I was ready for her to start cutting as I obviously had my phone up to film. When we asked to takeaway our leftovers, we were a bit embarrassed to ask if we could takeaway the bread box too, but the waiter offered to get us a large box specifically for the bread, as well as normal takeaway boxes for the other fish and crab.
The restaurant seemed to be split into two sections - half for booked tables and half for walk-ins. We had booked in advance and found that the booked area was much quieter as it was mostly empty while we were there. The ambiance is what you would expect of a casual Asian family restaurant.
Recently dined at Ocean Seafood Bar with my family. It was a weekday evening and the restaurant was very quiet. They only had 3 other tables that night but lots of staff working.
The portions are generously big and the scallops in both the butter and XO sauce were big too. Each dish and their seafood were full of flavour and each had their own taste of perfection. My favourite dish of the night was the Salted Egg Yolk Prawns. Unlike other restaurants, Ocean Seafood Bar's salted egg yolk sauce was more liquid thick base and was rich and savoury.
The Iced Teh Tarik was on point! The Soy Grass Jelly is another good option.
Had a very nice experience and really enjoyed the food.
Got Groupon deals for the seafood laksa and the fishhead laksa. HUGE portions!! Booking process was smooth and easy. Definitely go for the fish head laksa if you can’t decide which one to get :) Service was polite and pleasant. Love the bell service at every table. Would come back to try other dishes.
