First time trying this cafe very impressed with food and service wasnt very busy for 11am on a Saturday but that suited me. Coffee was very good also
A little gem in Gembrook, the cafe has a broad range of the usual offerings with a few twists, good coffee, Gluten Free and Dairy Free options and great service, well worth a visit.

A humorous name for a café (except to American hairless terriers), Hairy Dog is a shopfront cafe in the main street of Gembrook. I dropped in on a cold and foggy Sunday morning after travelling to Gembrook for the monthly market. The décor features off-white walls, with timber panelling on the counter and feature wall. The dining area is spacious but, save from a large potted plant, devoid of ornamentation. Some wall-art or ephemera would make it a little more cosy. A long bench and stools span along the wide glass facade, and the table settings comprise weathered timber tabletops and faux aged steel chairs. The menu has some fairly standard breakfast fare (scrambled eggs, and the like). I would have liked to have seen a few more vegetarian or vegan options, however, I selected the roasted mushrooms and avocado, which was a simple but tasty dish, well presented, and served with fresh herbs. The coffee was very good, well extracted, and served at a good temperature. I found the service friendly, laid-back, and efficient, and the ambience was quite good with some funky background tracks, played at an appropriate volume. A good choice of café on a cold Gembrook morning.
