I chose the amazing ‘Vegetable and tofu Green Curry with rice ($13.00)’... My dining companion picked the gorgeous ‘Mongolian beef with rice ($12.00)’...
This is an underappreciated find, in a small shopping centre. We often pass this when doing our grocery shopping. Always assumed the menu was full Thai, but realised a lot of the items are Chinese/Malaysia dishes, and ate there today. Had the Char Kway Teow, Char Hor Fun and Dry Wonton Noodle. Good price and tasty. Will go back again. Suggest the owners rebrand the shop if they find more Chinese dishes cooked than Thai.
GOOD HONEST FOOD AT A GOOD PRICE...!!!
We had dinner here not long ago...the 4 of us..
It's not just Thai food, they've got Penang dishes, Malay dishes, and a few Peranakan dishes - Singaporean fusion.
Look, it was a cold night, we were hungry....just simple honest food 'which I did not have to cook..' at an affordable price....my boys enjoyed it..so did I..
Lots of Asian heritage Australians eat here - Have always known this to be a good sign...
Love the 'old Aunty' who walks silently around, arms folded, making sure all is okay..she doesn't smile, but does have smiling eyes..an authentic experience in this 'hyped-up, super-dooper, state-of-the-art shopping centre'.
Generous serves - Average $15 dish - We were satisfied - Afterwards walked across the mall to Coles and bought a box of magnum almond ice-creams and a bar of Jamaican rum & raisin old gold chocolate,,sat in the comfy armchairs and ate our dessert..had a coffee when we got home..it was all good..!!
Yes, will go back again...
My partner and I have been here many times and through at least 2 sets of owners. The food is almost always fairly good. Standard Thai and Malaysian dishes.
Things of Thai is located in the Tooronga Village Stockland complex. It's our quickie take away fix for nights where we can't be pfaffed to cook anything. Whilst apparently it is Thai, I found most of their menu items were more Malaysian hawker stall in nature eg curry laksa, Ipoh noodles, Penang curry, Hainanese chicken... Far be it for me to quibble over their origins... Here is what we regularly order: Ipoh noodles. These are broad rice noodles with an egg gravy and assortment of seafood, chicken and veggies. I like that they do chicken breast as I hate lumpy bits of fatty thigh fillets in my noodles. The egg gravy is nice and comforting. I do have a bone to pick though - I have been eating here since the Tooronga complex opened and have noticed portion shrinkage over the past year. Still taste great though. Even though there is generally less of it.
Food was on the more expensive side for lunch but portion size was pretty big. Food was good but nothing spectacular.
Fantastic food, very fast takeaway,
DELICIOUS.
This place is a hidden gem.
They are so fast, so fresh, diverse menu, fantastic sate, sizzling won prepared stir-fries.
Dare to try something different from the old chicken pad Thai. You won't be disappointed
Food is consistently good quality - flavoursome and decent sized portions. This place gets busy (because of that), so go early if you're looking at standard 'busy' times like Friday lunchtime or you'll have to wait for a while.
If the queue isn't too long, the guys on the cookers really smash out the meals very fast. Gurus!!
