Great food. Very authentic Chinese hotpot. The staff are very nice too. Will def revisit.
nice to catch up with friends here.
New Royal Garden(ChuanXiBaZi) had transformed from Yum-Cha dumplings into Chinese Hot Pot (Original West Sichuan cuisine). Highlight recommendations are Wagyu beef, own-brand wine(Chuan Xi Xiao Jiu), deep fried pork, lamb, fresh bean curd, yummy Royal Vegetable and iced herbal drinks.
Tried NRG for yumcha the first time today and definitely will be returning soon. The service was efficient, a good selection of dim sum, not too pricey. Food was tasty and nothing we tried was below the standard of what we usually would get in the city or Doncaster. Great that we found a yum cha place closer to home!
Have been going to this restaurant for years for Yum Cha. Always enjoy the varieties they have, probably one of the best in south-eastern suburbs. The owner comes around to ensure everything is ok and that makes us feel welcome. Could suggest the ladies pushing the trolleys (yum cha) could smile a bit more and be more patient. But overall an enjoyable place to have yum cha!
Your regular yumcha fare, you've got all the favourites, some good some bad. The positives are that the dim sum are large and plump with filling, dishes with prawns had a nice bouncy consistency. Enjoyed the pork dishes also such as their siu mai. A favourite of mine was the fried taro puff with prawns, crisp and still hot.
What we didn't enjoy was that a few of our dim sum wrappers just fell apart such as everyone's favourite har gao. Nothing worse than picking up the pieces. The chicken feet were a bit one dimensional, some chilli or black bean would have made it nicer.
Overall great ambience, not the first time and won't be the last. Pricing was great, we spent around $30 per person and were absolutely stuffed. Can't say I remember the dinner experience here but it was decent. As I walk out I see someone with golden custard buns. Damn I always forget to get them!
Came here Saturday night, ordered beef brisket Claypot and bean curd with seafood clayton with rice. Took around 8 mins for the waiter to give us menus and the wait time for the dishes was longer than usual as it was a busy night with several other large tables. It was a bit disturbing to see an ant on the dish after we finished the prawn crackers though. Taste of both claytpots where very nice, flavours as I like them to be and the two of us finished all of course we were super full. Had water melon and dessert to finish off with. Generally flavours of dishes is very good here, service today was not as good though.
FAST Food Review: New Royal Garden in Mount Waverley
FOOD: Yum Cha here is fabulous with a good range including Ginger Prawn Dumplings, Chive Dumplings, Egg Tarts, Fried Radish Cake, BBQ Pork Buns, Eggplant with Tofu, Yam Cake, Pork Spare Ribs and if you are adventurous Braised Chicken Feet. Dinner menu is pretty good too. - 4.5/5
AMBIENCE: Even when it’s busy you feel there is ample room for you to have your own space and not overly noisy that you can still have a quality conversation with your family or guests. - 4/5
SERVICE: Best Service I have experienced at a Yum Cha restaurant, which usually does not prioritise polite service. From the Manager to the Staff, they are all very courteous and friendly. - 4.5/5
TOTAL: 13/5
Top Tip: Request the dishes you want so you don’t have to wait for the specific carts to arrive, which could take awhile. Also book ahead on the weekend so you don’t have to queue up.

The last time I came here was many years ago and then the yum cha was ok but not excellent. The place was fairly unclean and a little run down.I went back today for yum cha and the improvements are outstanding: very busy but clean, pleasant ambience, prompt and kind service and really nice food, with a proper variety. I was certainly impressed and I will go back very soon. I would advise to book, to avoid queing for a while.
We love coming here for yum Cha and dinner. The manager ban is an absolute legend. Always really friendly and one of the main reasons we always come back
Good Yum Cha, quality was decent. There could of been a bit more variety with the trolleys going around though, we were offered alot of fried dishes and not as many steamed. Plenty of parking around so its our go to yum cha if we have people coming in different cars.
Very delicious and flavourful dim sum.
We came here for lunch on boxing day. The place was full and we were lucky we made an earlier reservation.
Out of the dishes we ordered, pecking duck was good though it was less crispier but more meatier. Special fried rice was really good. The diced chicken fried rice and singapore fried noodles could have been prepared in a better way in my view. The portion sizes of all were quite generous.
The place had nice ambience and seating. Parking was ample.
Very good place, food is tasty and always cooked well. When dining inside they are usually very attentive as they seem to want to give you a full service. Takeaway orders are generously sized and feels good value. I'm only sad they are closed for renovations because I don't know anywhere that has the quality of this place.
The food is awesome, very good indeed. Price is pretty standard for yum cha too, so not too expensive.
The egg tarts are amazing! And the chicken feet was nice as as well (if you're scared to eat chicken feet, just give it a shot, I'm an Australian and I have never regretted my first taste).
Service is normal for a yum cha, actually probably a bit better than usual. If you're used to Western dining, you'll find the service bad - but believe me, there is much worse.
Pricey but very good chinese cuisine.
The salt and pepper crab was flavoursome and the crab was fresh.
Lobster in garlic ginger sauce and noodle base was also good.
The surprise dish was the mouth watering chicken. Flavour was spot on.
Friendly customer service.
My goto Chinese restaurant, I've been going here for over 30 years and still love it. Very friendly staff some of whom I've know all that time. 3 seatings of Yum Cha and a fantastic a la carte menu, which includes two of my favourite meats Emu and Crocodile. They also sell all the usually BBQed meat by the kilo. Being non Asian, but willing to try new and exotic foods, I often tell the waiter what meat I'd like and let them decide how it is prepared (ie off the menu, well the English one at least) and I've never been disappointed.
