Came here during the lunch special so the price was quite reasonable-yay. I ordered the shellfish linguini which I thought was nicely cooked and had a good portion of mussels and pipis. Customer service was also good.
Had a 70th birthday luncheon at Glen Waverley in March 2017. Excellent!!! All who attended enjoyed the set menu selection, wines and host Steve provided wonderful service. In fact, our guests are still commenting on the wonderful seafood, venue and service.
We continue to enjoy Richmond Oysters Glen Waverley & Oakleigh.

We had a very pleasant time at Richmond Oysters for a family dinner. We were shown to a table deep in the restaurant, right next to the impressive fish cabinet! The restaurant itself is sleek and the staff are quite knowledgeable. The menu is extensive - with so many delicious seafood choices we definitely took our time with selecting! Everything was cooked very well - my whole fried baby snapper was almost fun to eat! Would highly recommend the ceviche - we had salmon and tuna which was refreshing. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed by the size of the portions in the prawn dishes. Next time we must try the decadent sounding seafood platters!
We decided to try Richmond oysters after hearing good things about this place and we also had an entertainment book voucher, so that was an added bonus! We arrived quite late on a Friday night (around 8.30-9) and the restaurant was still quite busy. We ordered the paella and clam chowder with hand cut chips. The chowder had great flavours however there were clams with shells (not sure if this is the norm) but some shells had broken and can be loose in the soup which made it an unpleasant experience to eat. My partner and I thought the paella was great as well as the chips (note: the hand cut chips are very thick!). Next time we will try the fish n chips!
Warm evening decided to sit outside. First impressions are lasting ones..... sticky table. Don't you hate that. Come on guys it's not an ice cream parlor on the Gold Coast.
Kicked off with the oysters how could you dine a a place with oysters in its name and not try them.
Linguini with crab meat for a main. Nothing jumped out at me to come running back for a second visit but with that said the area is hot with choices on where to eat.
Came here for dinner on a Friday night and we are able to grab a table anywhere we wanted as the restaurant was not busy.
Service: 5/5 it was impeccable the moment we stepped in to the moment we left
Atmosphere: clean, new, spacious and comfortable (no loud music thank God)
Food: 8 natural Pacific oysters with all the sauces, mussel pot, clam chowder and crab linguine. All the dishes were a standout, they all tasted amazing!! Serving sizes were acceptable too. But EXCEPT the linguine. Without prejudice, we found the linguine to be too average with no flavour at all (bland). It was too boring.
Even though the linguine was a let down, we will without a doubt return soon to try the other dishes.
Went for lunch with friends. Awesome experiences there. Excellent service! Fresh seafood, good coffee! Highly recommended. Definitely will go there again.
The oyster and lobster are fresh and yummy. Sashimi is not right with the way they cut and the dressing. The squid ink risotto is delicious too. Service (Michael) is extraordinary which made it a memorable dinner
Richmond Oyster Bar Glen Waverley is really very good. We found the food to be beautifully fresh and the staff were helpful and informative.
Soft shell crab, mussel pot, oysters, prawns and snapper were all extremely tasty.
Only criticism would be that the hard surface finishes of the restaurant tend to make it noisy, but I would very happily eat there again.
This is quality Australian seafood with classy service. Baulk at the price only if you are fine with overfished and imported seafood, I'd rather pay a bit more here knowing I can choose sustainable . The menu at Richmond Oysters (in Glen Waverley) shows you where this fresher-than-fresh seafood comes from. On the menu you can find an easy-to-read break down of where the fish comes from - apart from a couple of NZ options you're looking at Aus from Albany (Western Rock Lobster) to Wallis Lake (Sydney Rock Oysters) and plenty of Vic fishies as well.
Getting to Glen Waverley is a bit easier for us these days than a trip to Richmond, and parking here is...well it *is* easier too, though on a Sunday night Kingsway was humming.
A pre-Saint Valentine's dinner just The Lovely Man and myself, a Seafood Platter seemed the only way to go. We added to this a whole crayfish ('Lobster') which seemed very good value for a special occasion at $80.00. The Seafood Platter is $158.00 and was, in reality enough for two, and a great price. Highlights were the Bass Strait Scallops and the Local Prawn Cutlets; real, delicate scallops not the water-pumped imports - and with their roe attached, perfectly cooked, and perfectly bouncy prawns with a drinkable sauce (yes I did) each served in a scallop half shell - three scallops each and two prawns each. A half a bug each with a great, fresh, salsa verde and the grilled fish of the day (Snapper today) were perfectly cooked and tasting of themselves (and a touch of smoke from the grill with the fish).
The XO sauce that we had with one of half of the cray was all you would expect - and yet - philistines we may be - the other half we had, 'natural' with just a little caviar was our favourite - can't beat mother nature's perfection! Great chips, yummy saffron aioli that I may have dunked more than just chips in.
The oysters were brilliant, had one in a Bloody Mary Shot (that was fun), O/H had a half a doz 'New Kilpatrick' he'd have again, thanks to the house-made BBQ sauce and there was an amazing pineapple and rum granita that 'magicked' my oysters to something out of this world, though the house sauce was nice too.
I shouldn't have had room for dessert - yes we ordered the extra oysters after the seafood platter - which doesn't sound so bad except that I didn't even mention there was also salmon, s & p calamari, anchovy croutons (great), mussle pot, tempura soft shell crab - and then more. It was all delicious. The squid ink arancini were not on the menu though, and the arancini we had in their place - we were unsure of for the first, but the second we grew to like. I felt there was a touch of marzipan flavour about them, weird (me), but there you have it, they weren't 'bad' and every single piece of seafood was perfectly cooked.
So in spite of that, I had dessert while he had a (very good) coffee - I often ask how his coffee is and he will say it's 'ok' - that he volunteered the information that it's good coffee means it's really good! Right, so the Golden Gaytime, how could I go past. Topped with Persian fairy floss, this was all you could hope, creamy, nutty, honeycombey...yummier than its namesake and a perfect way to end the meal.
Again, service is tops here, quality of seafood is too - get what you pay for I recon. Finally great, classy seafood closer to home. Though I bet the fish and chips here are winners too.*Tip, consider being a member of the Oyster Club for future discounts.
This joint was a great place to dine in. Reading through the comments, we decided not to order the fish sashimi and go for the "Seafood Platter" instead. The seafood were fresh and the hot food served with the platter was excellent. The portion is generous for its price compared to your other usual fancy dining restaurants. Service was impeccable too. I would definitely come back.
Good food, nice restaurant. We had a 2-for-1 voucher deal, good value. Set entrees, choice of 5 mains, choice of any dessert, glass of wine. We had paella and linguini. Good portions and enjoyable. Waiters are friendly enough and helpful.
Very satisfied with quality and quantity of food and friendly service. Seafood Grazer offered a nice selection of dishes to share, the paella was absolutely delicious, and we left the restaurant with large bellies. Would definitely come again.
Delicious. I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about. Absolutely delightful meal. Fantastic service. My parents enjoyed themselves and so did I. :):) will be back!
Good quality seafood and grills well cooked. Prices are about right for the quality/quantity. Service was friendly and competent but quite slow at times.
