Australia for some reason can’t seem to make their cupcakes as good as America. Both countries make cupcakes with buttercream frosting however in America it actually tastes nice. Upon my visit to this cupcake haven a girl at the counter was super helpful. I wanted a cupcake with cheese cream frosting. She found the one cupcake that has cheese cream frosting and it was divine!
Sometimes you just need something sweet in your life, and Cupcake Central have the goods. With several franchises around Melbourne, this Hawthorn location is nice and roomy with a yummy selection of pretty cupcakes. With a dining in cafe upstairs, it's a convenient spot for a coffee and cake.
Service was really good. Quick, efficient and friendly; the staff didn't mind me taking my time over my decision. The array of flavours is wide, and they all look amazing. I settled on blueberry cheesecake and it was as delicious as it looks. The cake itself was nice and moist, and the fruit added just the right amount of tartness. The coffee was also great. Cupcake Central is a popular spot for good reason. Great service and yummy cake is always a winner in my book!
Very nice coffee and friendly service. Not usually one for cupcakes but these are a delicious sweet treat. Be mindful the seating is limited..
One of my favourite cupcake stores in Melbourne. They really bring out the innovative flavours, most cake, tasty cream, cute presentation. I decided to try their vegan cupcakes which I have to say - tasted just as good if not better than their dairy and egg version. Highly recommended. My favourite non vegan cupcake is probably red velvet. They've been here for years, and are not going away anytime soon.
Theres nothing better than a cute little cupcake and this place is definitely amazing. I'm in love they're colorful and so many to choose from perfect for any occasion
Always have and will be my favourite cupcakes. The red velvet cupcakes are my personal favourites. The cake inside is nice and moist on the inside
Cupcake Central has some of the best cupcakes in Melbourne! They offer your standard cupcake flavours everyday, as well as a selection of unique specials that are on rotation on their baking calendar (and changes every season).
The Pandan flavour from their Spring Collection was wonderful. The Pandan aroma is quite strong and prominent, just the way I like it, and pairs really well with the toasted coconut. It’s also vegan and gluten free, so it’s not as moist and decadent as some of their other flavours, though it’s still pretty good.
The Chocolate Cracklemisu was also a delight. I find that their chocolate flavours tend to have the most moist cakes - perhaps due to the richness of melted chocolate. There was a subtle hint of coffee which was nice, but being an avid coffee lover I would’ve personally preferred for the coffee flavour to be a bit stronger. But the cupcake was still delicious and I loved the chocolate rice bubble ‘crackle’ on top.
All their cupcakes are wonderfully moist and fluffy, along with being so stunning to look at! Not too sweet nor heavy - perfect for parties or as a gift!
Pretty yummy cupcakes with a nice variety of flavours. My favourite was the lemon merignue and the red velvet with cream cheese. They were delicious, moist and pretty to look at.
The cupcake craze is well and truly over but there are a few outlets still hanging around and mostly doing a great job. Cupcake Central being one of them.
Before the advent of my bubble tea addiction, it was cupcakes that took centre stage. (Remember Crabapple cupcakes?)
Cupcake Central has very decent cupcakes all year round and for today I decided to try something different - the boysenberry choc top cupcake. That rich, delicious chocolate dome hid a lovely dollop of berry cream. The cupcake itself had multiple juicy berries which were not overwhelmingly sweet.
So while donuts, boutique croissants and bubble teas are dominating the sweets market, Cupcake Central continues to quietly produce quality products which do not disappoint.
Cutest little place to hide away, especially during winter. Also the best cupcakes I’ve ever had with lots of delicious flavours. My favourite is strawberry & Nutella and they’re always bringing out new interesting ones. Highly recommend

Wish they were open on Mother's Day!
Have been going there since 2014 I think. The staff are awesome. Love the cupcakes. A tad pricier than when the minis were $2.50.
I get people gift vouchers to here as a fun 'treat yo'self present.
And they're also pretty ethical and supportive of the community by donating end of day unsold cupcakes which is great and socially responsible
Cupcake Central, located at Don Arcade (previously known as Glen Arcade), off Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn is a gem of a cupcake place. As soon as you walk in, you will be greeted with a friendly smile. Service is excellent. The cupcakes are to die for, especially the Red Velvets. It is moist, soft and mouth watering. Topped with a thick layer of delicious frosting. The latte is excellent too. Highly recommended.
Cool set up and niceee cup cakes too.
A bit hidden from the main Glenferrie Road, on the side underneath Glenferrie station.
Cool, small and nicely set up.
Fantastic team running there.
Most importantly, can't get enough of their half a dozen or dozen cup cakes to take home.
