Very affordable Korean food. Quite authentic to me. Kimchi pancake is a must must. Tried kimchi pancake at a few places in the city but none can beat the one here. Bibimbap portion is quite big. Beef soup was small but very flavourful.
Great cheap korean food in hawthorn when you're craving either a kimichi soup or noodles. They do decent bento boxes and will always fill you up with their good portion sizes!
Another family favourite. Bewon is a super convenient, reliable and delicious korean restaurant that is very reasonably priced. I ordered the eel bimbimbap, which consists of rice cooked on stone dish, mixed together with an assortment of veggies. I have noticed that the ownership and staff has changed, and although the food is still very delicious and filling, sometimes the customer service is not the best. I find that some of staff members are not as alert and helpful as they used to be, but overall the service is not bad. I think if you are in the mood for korean food and is in the area and not wanting to pay much, 100% check this place out, especially those stop in university or school.
Good quality food for a very reasonable price! The staff are always welcoming and the food is always good and consistent. Would reccomend the seafood soon doo boo, beef bulgolgi stew, japchae and spicy rice cakes! 😊🥜🥜

Going out for dinner is not always about a big event with formal dresses, make-up and wine. Sometimes, you just want to grab a quick bite in your gym gear and be nourished by a quick, healthy and cheap meal. This is how I am at Bewon. Opposite the recreation centre in Hawthorn, and with the university nearby, this authentic Korean eatery is fast, tasty, casual and cheap.
I'm not a big fan of Korean food normally, but the Jap Chae here is fantastic, ordered the Beef version. Other standouts are the pancake (ordered the seafood - tasty and not stodgy like some other places) and the potato croquettes. Ordered the spicy beef rice set which was also nice - spicy as in tasty rather than fire-breathing.
Cheap dinner with no faults. Ordered the soondubu jiggae / spicy tofu stew with seafood. It was perfect and came with a poached egg which was a nice surprise addition. Wish I had found this place sooner.
For a relatively cheap and good Korean meal, Bewon ticks all the right boxes. We have been coming here for years and there have been significant changes to their menu but the basics remain unchanged.
The service has improved recently with more cheery smiles and greetings on offer.
We always order their lunch boxes and I recommend the beef or spicy beef - this comes with a couple of side dishes (that silky tofu is drenched in some serious addictive sauce!) and rice. The well seasoned, thinly sliced beef is always cooked well so your satisfaction is guaranteed.
I would stay away from the chicken though, the last few times it has tasted a bit stale - I'm not a fan of overnight chicken.
But the best item on the menu is the potato korokke....it's always perfectly fried and served with a drizzle of mayonnaise and special sauce.

Organised an official work lunch here. I personally loved the food. As I do not tend to have my food spicy, had the teriyaki bento, which turned out to be a bit sweet. But still loved it. They bento was filled with rice, salad, chicken and tofu (that looked like a white custard with syrup) The tofu was very bland and soft like custard. Few of us that ordered the bento, thought it was a dessert and had it at the end. Funny that !
The service is quick- pay at the counter and then get served. Could have opted for a bit more of an interactive service as it is a restaurant and not a food joint.
Not surprised that the place is crowded during lunch time on Glenferrie road, prior booking would be good.
Bewon is a popular korean restaurant located at the busy Glenferrie Road, near the Glenferrie train station in Hawthorn. The menu selection is quite comprehensive, featuring all popular Korean dishes such as japcae, bibimbab, galbi and soon doo boo. The speed of service is amazing. The food came not long after we ordered and paid. We find staff to be very friendly and attentive to our needs. Keep it up, Bewon!
