Amazing meal! This place was actually recommended to us by a hostess at a much more expensive restaurant. She said that they had the best food in Hobart. Although we have only been to a few places, I am already inclined to agree. Don’t let the fact that they have a set menu put you off. Just try everything! You will be surprised and delighted! I generally don’t like beetroot or anchovies but loved the dishes the served with those ingredients. My wife has never liked oysters or beef ribs but she has been converted. Great food and great service! This is a must if you are visiting Hobart!
Best meal in quite a while. Pick of Hobart, from someone that's worked and eaten at the best.
Awesome wine list, and staff that know it inside out.
The tasting degustation showed why simplicity is best. Interesting, carefully prepared, and beautifully presented.
Booked the next meal there before we left.
A really interesting and intimate fine dining experience. A series of small interesting courses which are explained in detail by the very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Sitting near the kitchen, we could see the skill and teamwork. The wine list( a wine room) is a little expensive but very god quality natural, low sulphide wines from Australia and Europe. Well worth going for a special night out and if you’re happy with a set menu. Thank you Alex and staff.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had. The three larger courses of the degustation were incredible. Every bite was savoured. The pork was melt in your mouth and full of flavour, like the most delicious slurp of ramen you’ve ever had. The carrot dish was like a warm, savoury breakfast - very interesting, a dish that was thought provoking but still delicious. The oyster emulsion on greens was incredible. Not one course could I fault. Left satisfied. Loved the wine cellar you could walk into and pick a bottle at very reasonable prices and the service was relaxed and fun but professional and the staff knowledgeable but unpretentious. I’ve paid double this for meals of similar quality. Can’t recommend enough.
My partner and I had an amazing night here. Cute premises and an amazing tasting menu. I don’t generally eat carrots and even the carrot dish was to die for. Being invited into their wine cellar to choose our wine was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend
A secret of Hobart, discovered by recommendation, a must visit for a taste bud explosion. The restaurant is located behind a bar at the end of a corridor in Hobart CBD. We were greeted with a friendly smile on arrival. The vibe was intimate and for a small crowd. We had the eight course degustation which was absolutely amazing with red wine. Highly recommend and must visit when in Hobart
Not just food but a whole dining experience. The location of the restaurant is almost hidden, which is fitting when you consider your menu for the evening is unknown until you arrive. We enjoyed a lovely degustation here. The food was exotic and playful in flavour, colour and texture. The wine we enjoyed with our meal, a Sangiovese, was incredible. The lightly was low and romantic, the music a little strange but the staff very friendly and attentive. Overall, a memorable experience that we enjoyed whilst visiting Hobart.
I have been thinking of a word to describe my experience for this gem that is tucked away in Hobart, Tasmania. What I came up with was the word ‘Sublime.’ In literature it is a description that excites thoughts and emotions beyond ordinary experience, which is what it did for me. The degustation menu at $75 per head was money well spent and the wines that were offered along with some unusual and expertly cooked food were good as well. This would have to be one of the best meals that I have had. This is a small restaurant with its own wine room and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Two sittings per night and eight sublime courses. If you want to tantalise your taste buds, this is the place to do it.
Centrally located restaurant with an open kitchen & bar as well as a cellar room to pick your own wine. Degustation menu changes depending on seasonal produce. The dishes were creative & the flavors blended well. The staff were attentive too
