As a group of four last night, we couldn't praise our meals highly enough. Softest calamari I've ever eaten, generous serves on the mixed grill and gyros plates. Everything was delicious. Lovely family running the restaurant and a perfect atmosphere. Also in the entertainment book! Highly recommend.
Having been to a number of Greek islands and Athens a number of times you always step into a Greek restaurant both with hope and a little trepidation. So on arrival on abustle Friday just before Christmas our party of five had a wonderful evening. The decor the background music the chat from other tables and the relaxed feeling lent itself to great family dinner. What made it extra special was the family touch by the owner and his daughter and the best home cooked Greek dishes. (Try the lamb it was melt in your mouth). What was going to be a quick dinner morphed into the fastest three hours of enjoyment at a dinner table.
Ahh, there nothing quite like Mediterranean food and what a great restaurant to experience it at.
The place was quite airy and welcoming inside. The staff very friendly and made you feel very welcomed.
I started off with Saganaki fir an entree followed up with Gyro Lamb & Chicken with pita bread, salad, tzatziki and chips, Mythos beer and for dessert a Galaktoboureko and all for around $50. Quite reasonable for very good quality food.
They have some great mixed grill for 2 options so be sure to check them out. Definitely recommend.

What an amazing little Greek resturant, Mike and his partner where fantastic, attentive, the service was great the food was traditional greek. If you want to enjoy and evening out and are happy to wait for good food this is the greek resturant to go to. Reasonably priced and very enjoyable.
Great restaurant and authentic Greek vibes. These guys were able to give us a table on a Saturday night without a booking and we were so grateful!
One feels sincere warm welcome at Filoxenia. Food is authentic Greek n service is excellent. Highly recommended. Prices are slightly on the high side but one leaves Filoxenia with a full belly.

I was sold as soon as I looked at the menu - same things like you would find in Greece. This place offers some of the most authentic Greek / Cretan dishes (beyond the typical souvlaki) and you have to try something new! Recommend the ouzo because it just goes well with Greek food and ask for how best to drink it (I was told in Greece that you should always only have it with food and you can add water to mix it to your desired strength)! We ravished through every dish (cleaned the plates) and still got the desserts. Absolutely amazing galaktoboureko (like a strudel) and fig glyko koutalio (sweet fruit preserve with Greek yoghurt). Fantastic food and fantastic service. We visited in January and loved it. Came back in December and it was just as good. We ordered a number of smaller dishes to share and the flavour is amazing. It's a must if you are visiting Hobart.
