We have visited a handful of times over the past few weeks and the Inn has become our local.
The food is really good, I have to eat gluten free as I am ceoliac and they have a handful of gluten free options, which are good.
The drinks menu appears to have changed, for the better, with some lovely cocktails and a good wine selection.
We will be back for sure.
I really had no idea of what to expect when I arrived at The Hornsby Inn, but the proximity to the Hornsby Westfield, mall and train station made me feel good about the choice to stay there.
The pub was built in 1967 and has 10 rooms. We stayed in Room 10, an executive room. The pub still carries its retro feel, but in a good way. You can see that renovations have occurred. The pub has a relaxed feel that we both enjoyed.
Room 10 has a double bed, single bed and ensuite bathroom. There was a fridge that was very nicely stocked with enough food for a decent continental breakfast, there's a toaster and jug. The double bed was comfortable. The ambient temperature of the room was warm and we didn't need to use the wall-heater. There's no real air-conditioning. The room and bathroom were clean.
Dinner at the pub's bistro was pretty good - actually the parmie I ordered was delicious.
A good stay. Thank you.
I'm on a circa 4000km road trip across the Eastern seaboard of the country going through the entirety of NSW via the coast.
I booked two nights in the Hornsby Inn in Sydney's northern suburbs.
Prices are cheap, the rooms are dated but functional, includes all the essentials, beds are on the softer side. The AC is one of those wall units, it works but I found I had to leave it on the entire stay to keep the room temperature nice and cool.
Parking is a bit of an interesting affair, you need to come in the drive thru entrance on Hunter(?) Street, which is a one way driveway, which leads around the side of the building to the hotel parking, it's a bit tight so get your driving hat on. If you're traveling using the GPS then it'll lead you around the block a few times while you try figure how to get into the car park.
But the pub itself is great, has all the usual gambling facilities, a good choice of beer on tap, food is cheaply priced and decent.
I was there for the karaoke night and there was some serious talent on show! Wow Hornsby Inn karaoke night goes off!
All the staff at the Hornsby Inn are super friendly and serve you very efficiently, a shout out to all the front of house staff here who made my stay fantastic.
Conveniently located very close to Hornsby Train Station you can leave your car behind and get around Sydney via their very cheap and effective public transport network.
Then when it's time to go, you're not far off the freeway to get out of Sydney cleanly without fuss.
Certainly worth staying here if you're traveling through Sydney with a car as the access out of the place is superb.
For the dated room and interesting parking it makes up for it more than enough in the very low price you pay to stay in this location, so still 5 stars.
Keep up the great work guys.
