tried this takeaway shop based on zomato and 2nd top..feeding a family of 5 2 adults and 3 kids - great selection of special menu and great value for money!! staff are helpful with customizing family packs according to our needs especially for the kids! the selection pack was amazing and family pack for 2 was enough and had plenty of leftovers for us! the chips were nice and crispy and not overly salted so the kids could enjoy them! the fish was so fresh and the selection of shrimp scallop crab sticks and calamari were all enjoyed by the kids! to add to this we could pick the fish that came with our special pack and not just the usual “flake” in a family pack! overall we loved the food, the service, the staff!! very helpful with my choices and definitely patient with my indecisiveness! will definitely go back!! the quality is amazinngggg!!!
Judging by the number of people in Fish-a-Fare every night, this is a popular place in town.
And the staff I worked with agreed that this is #1 for fish & chips in the Lakes area!
Great chips- $3 for a very generous minimum serve.
Or they offer a variety of packs with chips + fish etc. The flake was tasty but the batter was a little soggy. But the crispy chips made up for it.
Take it down to eat near the footbridge or across on the beach - but be warned of the enthusiastic seagulls!
The service was a little bit slow, considering we were the only customers and there were at least 5 employees. However, there was a sign that read to the effect, "We are not a fast food outlet. We are a fresh food as fast as we can outlet", and indeed, the fish and chips we got tasted quite fresh, not too oily nor salty.
I can't say it was the best fish and chips I've ever had though - the fish was a bit chunky and hard in places, but the rest of our food was very good.
Overall, the packs were of great value for money, very generous serving sizes, and it was a good feed overall.
You have ruined fish and chips for us from here on..... LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We cant ever have fish and chips and enjoy it from anywhere else ever again. We found that there isn't much to eat here that's any good and when we discovered this place for dinner it resulted in us returning the next day for lunch, then dinner.... then lunch and dinner again the following day! Yep, 5 times in a row and we are so going to miss the succulent enormous, thick, filling, snapper, the scallops, the potato cakes, all so well battered, so very fresh, so hot and tasty and just perfect. No fish and chips shop makes it so fresh and tasty, and we have tried plenty of them around Melbourne to know! The service is fantastic, friendly, accommodating. They ran out of snapper on our last night here and we found that the barramundi is fantastically fresh and tasty also. A highlight of Lakes Entrance for us- thank you!!

Excellent fish & chips. Their prices are the lowest I've found in years, yet they did not skimp on the quality. The scallops were large and juicy, the potato cakes and fish cakes were crispy and delicious. Try Fish-A-Fare for authentic Aussie fish & chips.
Taste good and batter is not too thick. Had a fish meal for 2 with extra one flake and calamari rings and scallops and onion rings. Meal for 4 - ample for a everyone.
Service was good and service is fast as there were couple of other customers as well.

Pretty good! Not the best I’ve ever had, but I’d happily come back again next time I’m in the area. The potato cakes were a bit bland, but the flake and chips were good. Importantly, the oil didn’t taste old.
The minimum serving of chips was not especially generous, but neither did I feel ripped off.
