We were quite pleasantly surprised to find a great Nepali restaurant which actually serves fantastic nepalese food with a twist in the south-east suburb of melbourne. All the food we ordered were warm, flavoursome and quite tasty. I loved the chilly momo most and would again order the pork belly. The place had great ambience , good food and very attentive staffs. I highly recommend this place and will love to come again and again.
We love this place great staff great service and the food is amazing
Very very happy that they have a play area for crazy toddlers like mine and the staff are very patient and friendly.
Tried the dumplings and pork belly rice from Nepal dining room at the Melbourne Hawker 88 night market. The chicken momos were delicious and had just the right crisp. The pork and rice was delicious too, packed with flavour!
Yummy yummy!
Tried the Pork Belly with Bok Choy at Hawker88 held at Queen Victoria Market. I wouldâve definitely have gotten more food from here if I didnât eat so much before this. The Pork Belly was delicious and melted in the mouth. The mono chicken looked really good. Would definitely be interested in checking out the actual restaurant!
It may look like your average casual restaurant in an obscure part of a strip of shops where foot traffic isn't ever at a high, but it's definitely worth stopping in at Nepal Dining Room for a really delicious meal.
Admittedly, this was my first time trying Nepalese food, but I love Indian and I know they're a little similar, so thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did, because the food was fantastic. The restaurant itself is nicely decked out. It's got a slight modern warehouse type feel to it, but there's ample room (but with small tables), and beautiful smells coming from the kitchen.
I ordered the Pan Fried Sekuwa, which are pieces of chicken thigh fillets marinated with mustard leaves, yoghurt, garlic, ginger and cumin. It was so delicious and came with a mini refreshing salad of cucumber and onion and tomato etc. A really good start to the meal. Following that, I ordered the Chicken Curry for my main (which came with butternut pumpkin) and plain rice. It was beautiful and fresh and while the chicken wasn't as tender as the entree, it was still packed with flavour and texture.
The service was good. Food came out all together and correctly and within a reasonable time frame, and the prices are worth it for what you get. Street parking is plenty along that side and portion of Waverly Road and I really look forward to trying it again another time.
Thank you for a very tasty dinner last night. Iâve been driving past the restaurant for ages and always wanted to try. As soon as we walked in we could smell how good it was going to be. We will be back!
Flavourful Nepal food with a little bit fusion with India. Goat curry, pork belly and momo is to die for. Will come back to try other dishes!
Good place with decent look. Menu had a lot of inventive dishes. A western approach to nepalese food, dishes are bit toned down but, this place definitely has a place in a expansive nepalese food scene. Donât expect to get super spicy food but expect to get fresh quality food here.
service was good aswell.
The food was very flavoursome and tasty, although quite pricey. The food was delicious but would have preferred more of a sharing style of more dishes, although due to every dish being around $20+, they were not the biggest serving size, sharing wasnât really an option if you were hungry. Overall the quality of ingredients tasted nice and the flavour were delicious. The service was lovely and it had a good atmosphere.
It was our first time trying Nepalese food on Thursday. Prior to us coming, I âconsultedâ my Nepalese colleague about the must-tries of Nepalese cuisine.
With some guidance from her, we started with a selection of Chicken momos, Lamb momos and Pork Choila.
The dumplings themselves tasted rather similar to Chinese potstickers, but the chutney drizzled over the top made a delightful difference.
The Pork Choila was fantastic! Packed full of flavour, these little smoky and tender pork belly pieces were so enjoyable that we contemplated ordering another serve.
For mains, we had goat curry, cauliflower and chamre rice. The goat curry was light and delicate, laced with hints of spices and went well with the Nepalese rice which had a distinct note of turmeric coupled with cumin seeds. The cauliflower, on the other hand, was rather ordinary to our taste buds.
Service from whom we can only assume is the owner himself, was personable. Despite having to mind both the kitchen and front of house, he took the time to chat and check on us.
Overall, it was a pleasant introduction to a cuisine thatâs new to us. Whilst not all the dishes knocked our socks off, it wonât deter us from coming back to try other menu items.
This restaurant really deserves its high rating!
Tasty, healthy food, BYO wine, helpful and friendly service, pleasant environs, easy parking plus discount from Entertainment Book.
What more could you ask for?
Nepalese food is quite varied, so hopefully in the future a seasonal menu, will be on offer.
Well worth a return visit!
Decent taste of Nepalese food in fine dinning, Momo are best. Momos are really flavourful, never felt difference on taste.
Went there with a couple of my non Nepali friends and had a lovely time today. The waitress was very attentive and kind. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely too.
The food here is great but being a Nepali I feel that some dishes were missing the authentic and traditional flavours.
Although I feel that the momos couldâve been more flavourful, I thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. Would recommend trying Chicken Sekuwa and Goat curry, they were the highlight of my evening.
Thank you team for your hospitality today.
I have been here couple of times now and both times the service were very good and food is also great. One of the best Nepali food in Melbourne. They are a bit more fancier than the usual Nepali places but worth it. Highly recommend the Platter for taste testing to see what you like and order more if those . The eggplant Pumpkin Tharkari was really yummy too. Very accommodating too with BYO etcđ
We love Nepal Dining. The food is always fresh and beautiful. Great to eat in or take away. Feel good after eating it. Itâs our regular go to meal. Staff are all lovely and welcoming.
A gem of a find in Malvern! Meeting up with a couple of friends who live near by, the Nepal Dining Room offers a great menu and helpful staff. The food is top notch and fills its namesake's brief. Book early to avoid missing out on Friday and Saturday nights!
Two thumbs up for this place đ we went all vegetarian including momos and mains and I have to say choosing Nepali food will never go wrong even if you a vegan đ
