Delicious breakfast, had the smashed avocado. Great coffee and cosy atmosphere.
We visited Saint James Café on a Saturday afternoon with friends and our dog, Zeus. We were greeted by friendly staff who pointed us in the direction of their outdoor courtyard which was quiet and spacious, perfect on a sunny day. We ordered the Smashed Avocado, Chilli Scrambled Eggs and Nourish Bowl (most with added halloumi). All these meals were thoroughly enjoyable and accompanied by Industry Beans coffees - all of which I would definitely recommend. The food/coffee, service and venue resulted in this 5-star rating. Thank you Saint James Café.
Good breakfast place with decent coffee. The nourish bowl was great and fresh. The waffle cut chips were a bit on the oily side but tasted nice. I did not expect to see Pumpkin Gnocchi on the menu as breakfast but gave it a try. The braised beef cheek just melted in your mouth and the gnocchi was tasty!

A great visit to Saint James café in Malvern
The interior is lovely, with navy blue being the dominant colour throughout the café. The outdoor courtyard was small and intimate. I loved the feature wall full of plants/succulents

Smashed Avo: A simple dish done exceptionally well. The egg was poached perfectly. There was a generous amount of avocado & feta ontop. The addition of red pepper hummus added a nice slightly sweet flavour to the overall dish
Nourish Bowl: My friend really enjoyed this dish
The service was awesome. The staff were friendly & attentive to our table outside
Had an absolutely beautiful lunch here enjoying the sunshine in their gorgeous courtyard.
The coffee was nice and hot and of course...some nice coffee art! Always love coffee art!
I ordered the nourish bowl and it was absolutely amazing; so good I finished off every last bite. Love the pesto hummus on it!
Atmosphere was nice and relaxing with staff who are laid back, kind and helpful.

FOOD: I ordered the Grand Final Weekend Hotcakes special and it was absolutely amazing! I remember when I first came to Melbourne and I saw Saint James’s hotcakes EVERYWHERE and by the time I wanted to try it, they changed the menu :-( and I thought I’d never be able to try it BUT the brunch gods are on my side 🤣 after months of stalking their instagram 👀, lo and behold, they brought it back but only for the Grand Final Weekend and honestly, it was worth the wait. For all my life, I’ve always been attracted to charcoal infused foods and my favourite kind of bread is charcoal bread 🤣 so when I saw Saint James incorporating it into not just their hotcakes but their MASCARPONE??? I lost my marbles when I saw this on instagram and it definitely did NOT disappoint! Their hotcakes itself is the absolute perfect flavour and texture (I can tell why they’re so famous for it at last 🤤), the charcoal mascarpone was really delicious and though it still tasted like mascarpone, there was just a little something special about it! The lemon curd along with fresh mangoes and mango coulis added a fruity touch that was super delightful and who doesn’t love a cheeky little chocolate soil 👀 I loved how it wasn’t too sweet and with the fruity touch, it made it not too heavy and sickening!
SERVICE: Pleasant service and really friendly staff! They’re super attentive and thank you for working on the Grand Final holidays 🥺
Overall, the hotcakes are an absolute beaut to look at but also an amazing experience to taste! Saint James nailed their hotcakes and I really hope they bring back some form of their delicious hotcakes for the spring menu! ❤️
Went here recently with a friend. I got the saint benedict & she got a fish finger butty with chips. The beef brisket on the saint benedict was so succulent & juicy & there was a lot of it! Definitely left leaving full. My friend thought her fish finger butty had an interesting combination of flavours but they all mixed well together & wants to try and make her own version at home.
I have to say the service was 10/10. This lady kept always made sure we were alright & making sure we got everything we needed. Which I thought was lovely.

A textural bircher & and full bodied with the creamy texture from the Yoghurt. Natural sweetness from the honey and apple which give it beautiful hints of flavour with each mouthful 😋👌🏻A delight to eat with so much going for it!!

The dish as a whole was very tasty, packed with flavour. The eggs were poached beautifully and the apple went really well with it too. The highlight was the hollondaise which had a bit of sweetness with in it and made the dish come together beautifully!!

Went here for the first time on Saturday after seeing photos of their food all over Instagram. I’m a huge bacon fan and it was the bacon portion size in the photos that got me there. Easily one of the best breakys I’ve had in a long time - I had the smashed avo with a side of bacon. The bacon was huge and the smashed avo was packing flavour with orange hummus & a green herby sauce. Coffee was so good I had three. Keep up the good work guys, we will be back again soon!!!

My friends and I had caught up at Saint James for brunch and here’s what we had!
Zucchini, corn and halloumi fritters - served with roasted capsicum and onion salsa, watercress, capsicum labne and poached eggs! The fritters were pretty tasty with the sweetness of the corn and the saltiness of the halloumi. The salsa was a good addition giving the fritter and extra kick!
Apple Bircher - served with coyo, seasonal fruits, mango coulis, berries, rose water poached pear and toasted coconut flakes! This was a lovely meal to eat as the bircher was on point and the seasonal fruits were very fresh!
Pan fried gnocchi - served with beans, asparagus, goats feta and pumpkin veloute! The gnocchi was so good - it was not over cooked and was not soft and melted in the mouth! The cheesiness from the feta also made it really tasty!
Blueberry and ricotta hotcakes - served with vanilla custard, blueberry compote, orange caramel, dried orange, ricotta crisp and berries! The hotcakes were thick but a little bit dry.
We had a fun time at Saint James and would be happy to visit again to try the rest of their menu!
We had a delightful brunch at Saint Jaxie, and enjoyed the outdoor area. It is dog friendly, water bowls available, and shaded. Food was delicious, and the staff were friendly, cool, and we couldn't believe we were in Malvern!! Will definitely return soon!
I’ve been here before and I’m not sure if there is a new owner or not but last time I went before the massive lockdown, I was very impressed with everything we ordered. Very memorable impression and stunning presentation of the food and coffee! Such a talented barrista! Looking forward to visit this place again.
I even upped my rating from 4 to 5 star.
Easy ordering, welcoming Staff, great plating, juices. Chicken in my Keto bowl was a bit dry but All the dishes we ordered are perfect. Will def visit again.

The Wagyu burger was juicy and delicious with the fries adding as the perfect crunchy side!
Add the flat white I had and it was the perfect lunch 😊
Lovely back courtyard with some good shaded areas on a hot day. Food was excellent! We had the breakfast burger with chicken nuggets and fries and the soba noodle salad with chicken. Followed up by two super fresh and delicious cakes. Lovely staff and a great quiet spot with good food and coffee.
