Highly Recommend! One of the best porridge dishes you'll find in Melbourne š There other dishes are nice too and they have good coffee, customer service was good !
I finally tried winter and I kind of expected a bit more and I mean that overall. The service was perfect and my french toast was delicious but it just wasn't big enough I love my brunches for the large portion sizes that I cannot finish except I was left still a little hungry.
I'm known to cross town for a good coffee and I can't go past their great coffee, food, staff and music. Consistently solid places like this are why Melbourne's international reputation is growing stronger
What a cute little cafe!
When I walked in, I was instantly in love with the decor! White and bright with touches of pink and bonus points for the retro prints of Bubble-O-Bill and Sunny Boys on the walls!
The gentleman that served me was super friendly, was super knowledgeable about the menu, gave me a great recommendation for the chia pudding and made it such a lovely experience!
The vibe is cosy and chill and it was really nice in there at mid-morning with people grabbing takeaway coffees and a few fellow brunchers in there.
The coffee was sooooo good and the chia pudding was insane! Whatever they do to make that granola, they need to sell it in bulk ā it was delicious! Perfect sized meal and all the flavours were so complimentary, it was no joke one of the best sweet breakfast items Iāve had in Melbourne. So yum!
Iād love to go back and try some of their lunch items too ā they looked just as good! Would definitely recommend!

Winter Malvern has got to be one of top brunch places in Melbourne. From modern/clean interrior to amazing food and coffee. We had the beef burger, super green salad and titaya chia pudding. The burger and salad were both amazing. The buckwheat in the chia pudding was a little hard, but overall a really good dish.
We were invited to Winter today and enjoyed a yummy breakfast. I started with a hydrating and refreshing drinking coconut as I awaited my smashed avocado with the addition of roasted tomato. My husband went for the super green salad with a coffee. We resisted the temptation of the fried chicken and waffles and satisfied my sweet tooth in a more nourishing way the delicious mango smoothie. There are plenty of options here for all palettes healthy or otherwise.
Original review
My brother in law recently moved to the area so we decided to have brunch in his new neighbourhood and settled on Winter given it is the latest offering by the famed cafe family that have given us so many of Melbourneās best.
I ordered the Nutella crumpets and we also ordered the French toast as a shared desert dish. Unfortunately both of those dishes came out almost ten minutes before the other savoury dishes came out for the other two I was dining with. Whilst waiting my poor brother in law took a moment to complain to us of burnt coffee.
Sadly when his dish eventually arrived his potato rosti side was rather burnt too! (See photo). I quite liked the crumpets and was impressed by the sound of a number of other dishes on the menu too. The French toast had some very enjoyable flavours but unfortunately the edges were burnt which left an unpleasant charred taste in my mouth. Seems to be the theme of the day. Only one piece felt a little stingy too
The waitress came to clear our plates and asked how it was to which I replied it was ok. No response from her asking me to elaborate so I guess she poses the question out of habit rather than actually caring about your experience. Certainly didnāt live up to my expectations

Lunch at Winter Cafe in Malvern was exceptional.
The peanut butter smoothie is so chocolately and smooth! Just the right amount of everything and perfect for a chocolate milkshake craving.
Their signature Pataya Chia Pudding is as delicious as it is beautiful. I canāt decide what I loved more - the caramel/cinnamon buckwheat granola or the vibrant pink chia pud. Add fresh fruit and coconut yogurt and you have a plate of heaven.
My main was the Avo Feta Smash with added mushroom. I canāt go past an avo smash and this one did not disappoint.
I had serious food envy of the Super Greens Salad. That beetroot hummus is next level delish. With added avo and tomatoes.
I highly recommend an iced Oat Milk Latte - they use my favourite oat milk, Minor Figures.

Well located premium cafe at Malvern with ample parking opposite which is a large Coles.
The soy latte was excellent and staff were quick to service the busy crowd.
There was a long line for coffee.
Lucky we booked and both coffee and meals come quickly.
Both the meals (beef burger and smash avocados) were well prepared .
Btw lunch menu is available from about 10:30am .
Winter Malvern definitely lives up to its description of being a hip, colourful joint with geometric tiles and pop art. Itās fresh interiors immediately welcomed us the minute we walked in and we were greeted by the most lovely, bubbly staff.
Their menu is filled with brunch classics with some intriguing twists. Including the āSmashed Kabocha Pumpkinā with feta, pomegranates, crispy kale, served on multigrain with dukkah, poached egg and beetroot hummus. The bread on this dish was fluffy, yet crunchy on the outside. With the tastiest serve of pumpkin, itās a menu favourite,
While brunching, we also tried the āSuper Greens Saladā with broccolini, kale, sugar snaps, asparagus, beetroot hummus, tahini, poached egg, zaatar and the addition of mushrooms. The fresh flavours complemented each other and allowed for me to not feel stuffed after. Itās a nice, light dish for the summer time.
Another interesting menu item was the āNutella Crumpetsā with whipped blackberry butter, strawberries, fried banana and honeycomb. I loved the combination of a fruit butter and fresh fruits. These flavours in addition to the rich honeycomb and crumpet flavours made this a highlight of the visit.
I would definitely visit Winter again. There are some many other dishes on the menu that I need to try out. Overall, an amazing experience.
Well this was a delightful brunch.
We arrived and were welcomed with smiles and a friendly service. That service didnāt fault from there either. It was great throughout.
We ordered
Chai latte
Orange juice
Smashed avo and smashed pumpkin
Nutella crumpets
The drinks were great. Nicely spiced chai and and fresh orange juice.
We both loved our smashed. I had the pumpkin and I can say that the pumpkin was seasoned really well and I liked the pomegranate seeds on the dish which added that extra bit of bite. Egg could have been funnier but thatās minimal.
The Nutella crumpets were more like chocolate cakes (not complaining) but they just werenāt what I expected at all. So tasty, moist and certainly chocolatey. I often find dishes like that can be just for show but it had a nice balance to it as the chocolate crumpets werenāt overly sweet and still had that crumpet taste to them.
It was a quality brunch. Beautiful cafe. I will be back
