How could anyone write a poor review about the Maha experience. This is not a question it is a statement. This is only the second time we have ventured from the outer eastern suburbs to dine here, and both times have been an amazing experience. The staff make you feel like you are a regular, and the attention to detail is a credit to the culture of the restaurant. My partner is a vegetarian and they manage to amaze her taste buds with every dish. No tired risotto here! I am from the dark side, but the combination of flavours they create to excite the omnivore is so worth the trip. The presentation and fusion of spices just keep you saying, how good is this! Both times we have been so impressed with the way each dish is presented by the service staff, and then they explain how the chief suggests to combine each segment to enjoy all the subtleties of flavours. I could be a very critical reviewer and say that I felt that maybe the wine by the glass seemed a little overpriced, but the matched wines for meal seemed good value. Unfortunately I only wanted a a couple of drinks with the meal. If you are looking for a real gastronomic experience then give Maha a try and l am sure you will come away singing its praises like we have.

An absolute devine experience. Enjoyed the spice journey set menu lunch on 11/11/17 with matching wines. Each course was indulgent but not excessive show casing the spice of the country. The matched wine was delicately matched to heighten the taste of each course. Words cannot describe the dessert wine with the dessert......it was breath taking.
Add to this wonderful service and the lunch was unforgettable.
Dined at Maha and opted for the ‘Soufra’ menu. Excellent and generous shared dining experience. Definitely within the top 5 restaurants I have dined at in Melbourne!
🍽 special mentions go to the snack upgrade. I loved all dishes. Additionally the supplement course of the sheer wagyu striploin was absolutely Devine and I could eat that all day long.
💁♀️ faultless service. 5/5

Food was amazing and generous portion sizes. It is a must-try for middle eastern fusion cuisine.
Cocktails were inspired by middle eastern flavours too. We picked the 6-course menu that is $115 per person and everything was perfectly fusion with middle eastern flavours. They also offer a 4-course meal for $90 and an 8-course meal for $140.

We booked a 6 course set menu for lunch. The scallops were succulent, tangy and a stand out and the delicate crab dish was tasty. The egg and corn dish was so filling, it was balanced with the richness of the egg and freshness of the corn, and the wagyu beef wrapped in pasta resembling tiny ravioli was spicy and absolutely delicious. We were starting to feel full and thought the final 2 courses would be small but the fifth course was quite large and heavy with the lamb shoulder. We only ate a small amount of lamb, tender and tasty but just too much quantity. The pork belly was tough and I think totally unnecessary and seems odd to me to have pork in a middle eastern menu. The standout was the delicately sweet and mildly spiced rice dish. We were so full, we needed to have a break before having a beautiful dessert with basil sorbet which tasted so good!!! Overall if we could do it again we would not order any lamb and stick to 4 courses or just 2 courses. The lighting was perhaps slightly too dark but intimate. The decor was sophisticated and modern. The service was excellent. On the down side, my cocktail glass had a chip in it and we had chipped bowls so told the staff. A fine dining venue should never use broken crockery or glasses. Overall we had a great time.
I have been lucky enough to go to this restaurant 3 times in the last 5 years, every time it’s seems to get better and better! Truly one of the best restaurant (in my opinion) in Melbourne. The service is amazing, the cosy ambience and the decor is fantastic and then the food comes out....wow! Thank you Maha for another amazing dinner, definitely be coming back again!
Had we known we needed to dedicate a few hours to spend and savour the food and ambience at Maha, we would have cancelled our plans and stayed the night. Banquet style dining so make sure your pockets are full but you won't regret spending a dime at Maha because the food is worth every penny.
Will definitely come back for a longer stay.
Excellent customer service.
Visited Maha after seeing so many good reviews. We opted for the 8 courses for $140pp.
1. Kibbeh neya, scarlet prawns and spring peas tart. These were amazing! Packed full of flavour and so delicate. Maybe the tart base was a bit too delicate because it crumbled straight away when we first picked it up
2. Bermagui blue fin tuna, tahini custard and pomegranate. This was a surprisingly small dish and the tuna was beautiful and thin. Felt the pomegranate a bit overpowering and overpowered the beautiful tuna
3. Grilled marron, carrot cardamom and saffron. The marron was cooled well but lacked flavour. The highlight of the dish was actually the cardamom and saffron sauce
4. Bbq corn, roast chicken and hens egg. This tasted exactly like a chicken corn soup which I quite liked
5. Hummus, chickpea roti. This was super super filling. The hummus was dense and rich and the roti was coated in a rich butter or oil of some sort (forgot), it could too much after awhile
6. Dry aged duck and wagyu 8+. Cant fault these guys. Beautifully cooked protein
7. Yogurt icecream. Yum yum yum this was amazing
8. Sutlac, toasted rice icecream. Another outstanding dessert.
Maha definitely showed some unique dishes. Was it mind blowing? Not really.
My girlfriend and I went here for our 2 year anniversary - it was honestly one of the, if not the, best meals we've ever had!
We opted for the 4 course "soufra" menu. Every dish was amazing and was a generous amount of food - we were definitely full and incredibly satisfied by the end of it. Some of our favourites were the Chemen cured kingfish, the pickled carrots, the green asparagus and the Turkish delight donuts. Honestly though, each dish was amazing in its own right. We would also highly recommend the Cardamom cocktail.
The wait staff were lovely, efficient and attentive. They asked us whether we were celebrating something when we arrived and after discovering it was our anniversary, they gave us an additional dish from the 8 course menu! We also left with a bread mix so we could make our own Maha-style bread. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish and we would absolutely recommend Maha to anyone looking for a perfect night out.
We were taking to the Middle East with this deliciously crafted 7 course banquet at Maha. Everything was done to perfection, from the decor, the service, the atmosphere and of course, the food.
Shane Delia has done an incredible job bringing his Maltese and middle eastern background to life with this incredible restaurant. If you’re looking for a fine dining experience in Melbourne unlike any other, you have to visit Maha!
We were treated like such special guests and we were also gifted with an extra dessert because the staff knew it was my birthday, so sweet of them to do.
