Highly recommend this place. One of Melbourne best cafes. It’s a great place to check out - the interior fit out is quality. Interesting small menu - quality food which came out quickly and was tasty. Friendly staff, very good coffee.

The food was delicious, the coffee was the best i've had in Australia and their famous dessert with ricotta is something divine that you cannot miss!!! Service was awesome as well!

The Kettle Black was a super cool cafe with a really nice atmosphere. Unfortunately we were seated at a high table even though there appeared to be standard seating available. We had the barramundi burger and seasonal avocado. Both meals were really nice and the portion size was good. Only wish there were fries to go with the burger. Staff were mostly friendly too!

On the scene for several years now since my PhD/early blogging days and still commanding quite an audience even nowadays, The Kettle Black has well and truly established itself as one of Melbourne’s favourite breakfast/brunch destinations. It’s a solid pick when it comes to both the coffee (Five Senses) and food, amongst a stunning Victorian terrace backdrop and cafe space.

Really nice service, dog-friendly and child-friendly. Coffee was amazing, as was the hotcake. However would say menu does lack a bit of originality. Overall would 100% go again.

I was in the local area after finishing a half marathon so I needed a snack. The scrambled eggs were immaculately presented. Very impressive. My friend (who also ran 21.1km) had the pink hot cakes, they were a bit sickly sweet for my liking but I am sure they have their audience - visually i couldn't fault them. Coffee was decent.

The cafe itself is light filled, well fitted out premises. I can see why people want to be 'seen' eating here. All in all, highly recommended.

The Gal Travels

Thoroughly enjoyed the melt in mouth salmon which was accompanied by a refreshing tangy salad. The oat cappuccino that I had tasted decent, though I thought their sister brand Higher Ground did a slightly better job. The ricotta hotcake came beautifully decorated with fruits and seeds and was quite large and thick. The hotcake itself is not sweet which helps balance off with the syrup that’s poured over it. Kettle Black a lovely place to hang out if you managed to snag a good seat. My only issue is that they seem to discriminate single diners and assign them to stools instead of proper seats even though a booking had been made and I was not just having coffee but a full meal.

Best brunch experience in a while at The Kettle Black. This place offers booking so you can enjoy brunch without the usual lining up and wait. We ordered large coffees and the price is great compared to other places. The dishes we choose are Sicillian Chilli Scrambled Eggs and Brisket Benedict. They are both delicious with the Brisket being the winner of the two. The brisket melt in your mouth and the milk bread pair with it perfectly. Only suggestions is that the mushroom might be better served warm. They didn’t have weekend surcharge, so you get better value for your money, highly recommended!

Great experience! Gets busy on weekends but we did still get placed on a table straight away. Good selection of food, can recommend the banana waffles if you’re looking for something sweet!

Food wise not bad. Coffee was good. Service was not bad too. Would be good if they have heaters on the outside during winters. Blankets can only warm the legs and not very hygienic passing from one customer to another. Can get quite crowded so bookings are recommended.

We’re so happy to dine in at Kettle Black again after two years! Visited Kettle Black for an afternoon coffee & snack! Though it was a busy Sunday afternoon and we’re able to get our table very quickly! Thank you so much the venue manager Rita for helping us. Rita and other staffs there are very friendly & helpful.The service was quick and we didn’t need to wait for long for our coffee and food , despite it’s busy! Thanks for the delicious coffee & waffle ! Two happy customers here

Vibrant with the decor, beautiful ambience - we landed at this Cafe in my neighbourhood this morning. Just tried one dish from the menu - chilli scramble as we were pretty full. Scrambled eggs were perfect. Been a long time to see such a beautiful scramble in a cafe. Wasn't overcooked or too runny. Just perfect! Beautiful combination of Nduja and scrambled eggs! Love the service- everyone is very welcoming and with a big smile :) Will visit again for more! Love the idea of the coffee shop outside. It is a vibe!

Coffee is cold and average taste. The service was slow, but scrambled eggs were really delicious and the hot cakes were beautiful. Noodle is not recommended.
