such a charming and cosy little cafe!! i felt like id been transported to france as soon as i stepped through the door. i ordered a mocha and a croissant and they both really hit the spot. in particular the coffee was so fluffy and perfectly foamy! after i finished drinking it i could still scoop up some foam with the spoon! as a lover of foam i was in heaven! the staff are really friendly too!
Interesting Turkish fusion cafe located (somewhat) within Quest Gordon Place! The Outside exterior is so cute and the inside is cosy as!
Moving away from the building itself, the food is either standard cafe grub, Turkish food or Turkish inspired. My Pastirma on sourdough is an example of the latter. Yeah it did had eggs and spinach, Turkish staples, but possibly the spices were dumbed down and sourdough doesn't exist in Turkey... probably! My breakfast had a lot less bread than what most Turkish people would consumed! Nonetheless I enjoyed it.
Do try this hidden gem! PS The front of house are people from all ethnic groups but the kitchen staff, and presumably the owner, is Turkish.
Coffee was delicious, incredibly smooth and balanced, but a little bit hot. We also tried some pastry, which was fresh and flaky. The price was perfect, but the restaurant was cramped and a bit dingy. Summary: good food and coffee, restaurant atmosphere was lacking.
This is a little gem, quaint small and full of Turkish and French pasteries. We had a mixture of savoury dishes to try the place out. We were not disappointed, what a treat.
The place is not fancy, but the pasteries pack a punch, we had a croissant with cheese and Pastirma, Bastourma spelt many different ways, it was delightful.
The Burek (cheese and spinach) Is the best I've had and I have had plenty.
We took home a mixture of French pastries and they were extremely good.
This will become my morning tea and breakfast pla e now, Burek, Golzeme, Croissants and other delights, I really enjoyed the French - Turkish cross over, quite pleasant.
Best croissant I’ve ever had in Melbourne. Soft, flakey, a bit sweet, baked in premise. Beautiful. I had already had a coffee, so I’m unable to comment on that.
I went here expecting an authentic French experience and great french coffee. The connection however I found was that the Great Orient Express had departed Paris France and already arrived in Istanbul, Turkey. My Turkish friend found this as authentic Turkish as a Turkish delight so this is certainly the place to be. Au revior
This place has the best chocolate croissants that I have ever tasted! So if you ever feel like one, this cafe should be the place to go! Highly recommended! :)
I concur with a number of the earlier judgments about this cafe. It’s a hidden gem off Little Bourke Street. It’s a little tucked away and not prominent on the street. There’s a really lovely cafe space behind the subtle facade if you take the time. The coffee here is really lovely. Deeply flavoured, substantive and offering length. Most impressive. I would have loved to have tried one of the famed almond croissants. Service was warm and friendly. A dark horse establishment which I’ve marked down to revisit.
The almond croissants here are “the best” I have ever experienced outside of Paris. Each bite is an absolute delight. I’ve yet to taste a better almond croissant in Melbourne! In fact, tell me there’s a better tasting almond croissant and I’ll eat my hat!
Nice little cafe that serves strong coffee. Prices are consistent with the area. Please note that they have a surcharge for small card transactions.
Great little cafe. Friendly service, nice range of coffees, milks, teas & a smooth hot choc blend. Take away & drink in.
Has sweet pastries like tarts & croissants alongside gozleme (made on site).
Will definitely be back.
Cute little coffee shop in middle of Melbourne. Very European feel. Lovely pastries and food. Very quick to make coffees and friendly staff. Would be nice to have some background music to create a bit more ambience. Otherwise was a nice cosy place to stop for a bite and coffee.
Cute cafe in the middle of Melbourne in a quiet alley. Staff were friendly and service was quick, which was greatly appreciated cause I was very hungry! Coffee and food were amazing! Highly recommend
Open Sundays so that is a bonus.
Ordered a hot choc medium size which I thought was well below scale / standard size.
Grabbed a sausage roll for good measure.
Both were nice, but my assessment would be under sized and over priced at $12.
This has become my new favourite for meetings, quiet breaks and Sunday treats. It's open for coffee until 5pm 7 days a week, what a find! The name refers to the cafe's position on Little Bourke St rather than indicating it's a French cafe - there's great French pastries made fresh daily but you'll find the menu also has a good range of breakfast and lunch meals to choose from with something for everyone including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options.
