Myself and my g/f found this place quite lovely and heart warming (since Hardware Societe was packed as usual), the staff were really nice to us and their service is awesome coffees is top notch, we had the eggs florentine for our breakfast and the homemade Hollandaise Sauce was fantastic. Food was exceptional. Would recommend once again... Well Done!!!
Best breakfast only found this place when I was I on my second last day in Melbourne very thing about was great at this place
Enjoyed it very much missing the food that comes from this wonderful breakfast place
10/10 for sure
Not many places were open for brunch, and the specials on offer meant that Larder Selection was the best choice from what was open.
We had the hash brown stack with avo & bacon, and the banana bread with berries, yoghurt & bacon. Both were delicious. Coffee was nice but not very strong.
Service friendly, welcoming & efficient
A great little find. I had the kofta - just spicy enough to be flavoursome without blowing my head off. The Coeliac one had the roast chicken baguette with gluten free bread substituted for the baguette. He loved it. They have lots of gluten free options so it's a great place for those who need it.
Coffee was great too. I was amazed at how well the kitchen staff worked, considering how tiny it is and how they turned out meals so efficiently.
Walking through the city I cane across this cafe. The deal was a $5 baguette w a choice of fillings... perfect.
I tried the chicken baguette w was delicious. The baguette was fresh and crunchy, and the chicken and salad filling amazingly good.
I enjoyed it so much I’m going back again today hahahaha
Happy Friday everyone 😊
Food for thought :)
Against the backdrop of a cold and silvery grey Melbourne morning sky our lone foodie hero trudged on in search of the next meal, the next foodie fix and that all elusive goal... the perfect dining experience. His next stop was to be at Larder Section where a friendly serving wench made promises of hearty breakfasts at bargain prices. Could she deliver? Our hero sat down and ordered a chai latte and a 'Big Breakfast' and patiently waited.
At first glance the chai latte was good, arty and tastefully decorated on top but the taste sealed the deal and the taste was good, not too sugary or sweet but just right.
Feeling satisfied our foodie hero awaited the arrival of the auspicious 'Big Breakfast' and was not disappointed upon its arrival. Sitting atop the plate were toast, bacon, perfectly cooked eggs, a little sausage and a generous helping of spinach.
The foodie hero dug in, devouring all as he sipped from the chai latte and a glass of water nearby and felt the meal was truly satisfying though on a wistful note pondered that perhaps it would have been better with two slices of bread to mop up the egg yolks and bacon and tomato with.
But all in all the foodie hero was content and happy with his meal, leaving with a song in his heart and a spring in his step. He resolved that he would send word far and wide to foodies all across the land with tales of his dining experience at the celebrated inn that was Larder Section.
:)

+4.5
After 3 days of eating my way through the little lane ways in Melbourne. My sister and I stumbled across this cafe. My sister was really craving granola and this was the place we found.
Our experience started of with a lovely lady who saw us looking at the menu and offered us a table. She was really on the ball. We ordered 1 granola , I had avocado on toast with feta & mushroom with two poached eggs. Nb
It was all fresh and tasted amazing our coffee was strong and amazing, we watch how the waiters and kitchen staff worked together it was by far one of the best systems Iv ever seen they all work well together. It's a really good cafe definitely will be back highly recommend it!!
This is nicely located in hardware lane, which is normally also known as the food lane for some of us. I am just looking for a place that opens nice and early and this happen to catch my eyes.
I forget since when do I wake up that early for breakfast on Saturday morning, since this is usually the sleep in day for me. The toast was done nicely, but the scramble egg is slightly blend, maybe adding more butter to cook it could help.
great service and coffee from this cosy cafe in the CBD ... had fruit toast with sides of mushroom bacon and spinach ... tasted alright ... staff was friendly and they do pop by to ask how was the food or if I wanted anything
Hard to fault this great lane way cafe. Staff warm and friendly, our lunch specials were delicious. Best Gluten free bread I've ever had! Great value for money also.
Top notch quality mushroom burger almond milk coffee made with love, passion and great service. Will come again when back in Melbourne. Nice alley way with sun and shade
I have dined here several times on my visits to Melbourne.
Larder Section has a great breakfast menu—it is nothing fancy, but it is simple *and* delicious.
I particularly enjoyed the mushroom breakfast burger, which formed part of the day’s menu specials.
The meals are reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly (read: not pushy and annoying), especially in contrast to other restaurants and cafes along Hardware Lane.
I would recommend Larder Section to anyone—I will definitely be back when I return to Melbourne!
Great place for breakfast/brunch. Staff is very friendly. I had avocado and feta smash which was tasty. We got free coffee too. Thanks for it.
Good service, great quality food and excellent coffee
Ate there for lunch July 6. Great tasty food at very reasonable prices. Something for parents and kids, thoroughly recommend. Pulled pork bowl and meatball koftas were awesome. Kids had pulled pork burgers. Coffee great too. Lovely staff.
I just loved the avocado smash with feta on sourdough bread, just add eggs or smoked salmon and let your taste buds enjoy. My bf got the big brekkie and was happy with it too. I haven't tried the coffee but the avo smash was enough to give it 5 stars! Staff is lovely too
Great little place in Hardware Lane in Melbourne with good simple food that was not too expensive. The staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of seats in the outdoor seating area but it was quite cold when I visited the place so I opted to sit indoors which was very small but cosy.
My girlfriend tried the 10 hour pork special and I had the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. Both dishes were pretty tasty and we couldn't fault it. Prices were extremely reasonable too!
