Screenshotted this place when they served a Stuffed Sweet Potato with roasted cauliflower, sauteed silverbeet, chickpeas, labne and pita bread - sounded amazing but wasn't on the menu anymore (pls bring it back, need to try this). Instead I ordered the Heirloom Tomatoes on toast with feta and basil oil. Came with avocado but they kindly removed it at my request. Such a simple yet fresh and tasty dish. I felt satisfied after without feeling sick, like you often feel after a brunch. I'm still dreaming about this dish and would 100% return just to reorder.
For fussy eaters, the menu might be a bit too extreme - it's not your run of the mill brunch cafe. Added bonus, if you love and respect a variety of foods and flavours - this menu is right up your alley.
Coffee was great.
Price might be pushing the limits but on this occassion, I was more than happy to pay for fresh, well-made food.
Amazing food? Check. Amazing ambience? Check. Amazing service? CHECK YET AGAIN.
FOOD & DRINKS : For food, we ordered the King Swiss Mushrooms and also the award winning Croque Monsieur and I can safely say it is the BEST sandwich I have ever had in my entire life! So in case you didn’t know a lot of East Elevation’s food is HOME GROWN from their own garden or it is sourced from the very best. The King Swiss Mushrooms are their own home grown mushrooms and you can definitely taste the freshness and a special little ingredient called LOVE. The dish was done so carefully and meticulously that when you eat it, you cant help but appreciate how perfectly done it was. From the seasoning to the spinach to the bread, the dish was done so simple but executed so excellently. The croque monsieur... it doesn’t need an introduction but I will never stop praising it! It is award winning for a reason and it truly is made with the very best of ingredients and even though it is $25, the portion and ingredients are so fresh and delicious! For drinks, I ordered the Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate and my... it was life changing. I have never had a more beautiful and well executed hot chocolate. The presentation and taste was phenomenal and you can definitely feel every single ounce of love poured into that cup.
SERVICE: Superb! Every single staff member didn’t fail to make you feel welcome and well attended to :)
Overall, East Elevation is a cafe that takes pride in being different through their QUALITY. A cafe can introduce new concepts but a cafe can also execute excellently and I will definitely vouch for both when it comes to East Elevation. It definitely has won a spot in my heart for one of the best cafes in Melbourne and I will definitely be returning
Had breakfast with a couple of people on a Monday morning. It was easy to get a seat. Lovely and patient service & good coffees. Big menu with lots of choice. I had the mushroom dish, which was a bit bland, wouldn't take it again. I do think $7 for a dirty soy chai is very very steep.
A very busy cafe - they make their own chocolates which is pretty cool. The service is good, non intrusive, gets it done without you wondering whats going on, but without asking you how everything is every 10 seconds. Food is ok, wouldn't say exceptional.
Great hipster cafe with a greenhouse vibe. We enjoyed the chicken pot pie which came with a spicy tomato to complement. We also tried the hot chocolate with peanut butter which was not too sweet, but just nice. The heirloom tomatoes on toast was a healthy and filling meal.
I love this beautiful cafe in the heart of Brunswick. It has the most amazing fitout, with an industrial feel that is sleek but cosy. Also home to Monsieur Truffe chocolate, this is a fabulous place to come for a chocolate fix.
Staff are warm and welcoming, and we are always served promptly. The hot chocolate here is amazing, as is the coffee; and I find it difficult to go past the chocolate filled pastries which are always mouth wateringly good. East Elevation is definitely a great place to chill and relax over a coffee or two.
Beautiful fitout with exposed in-house chocolatier. Decent coffee and tasty meals! They have a small mushroom patch in their attic that I had some of the best mushrooms I’d ever eaten from!
Have been coming here for years and the menu hasn’t changed besides some slight variations. I’ve always enjoyed my vegan meals here. The eggplant and bean dish is my favourite but I tried the ginger/ apple porridge and it was yummy! A hot chocolate is a must here, the best in Melbourne. I didn’t give 5 stars only because most of the staff never smile and pretty arrogant attitude for some reason but the food/atmosphere makes me come back.
Very busy cafe, now has many vegan options.
The coffee is great. They share a building with Monsieur Truffle, so you can get great chocolate here too.
I've had the vegan big breakfast (delicious) and the eggplant bagel. Both were different, interesting and tasty. Everything was obviously made to order so it was hot and fresh. It means you may have to wait a little longer, but it's worth it.
I love East Elevation - not just for their delicious food and standout coffee, but also because they are home to Monsieur Truffe, some of the best chocolates around. The honeycomb dark chocolate is incredible. If you're after something healthier, the roast eggplant and tahini is bursting with a range of flavours and textures, and so fresh. It's light though, so if you're hungry, I suggest adding aides to bulk it up.
After being on a sugar-free diet for over a year, my pallet no longer accepts anything that is slightly too sweet. For hot chocolate, I only drink Mörk. However, I heard that Monsieur Truffle at East Elevation also specialises in dark hot chocolate, I decided to come and give this a red hot go.
I came here on a Friday afternoon, which was somewhat busy but not packed. The waitress that served us was cold and not friendly-looking; we did not feel like she was approachable so didn’t ask many questions.
We ordered drinks and food, and although they came promptly, my croquette wasn’t piping hot, which was a shame for such a cold and gloomy day. It was yummy but there was nothing surprisingly amazing so I don’t think I’ll return for the food.
But!!!! I have finally found another hot chocolate that I can stomach!!! The 70% dark hot chocolate was amazingly rich in flavour, and it was perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness behind the bitter cacao. I absolutely loved it and will definitely come back for more!!
Great spacious setting in an old warehouse style building with a distinct red door entrance. Menu offers a good selection of vege dishes and some meats as well. Brunch and all day brekky on offer. Food was very tasty but both of our portions were not big enough for the price $23 for pork belly and $20 Swedish board. We were still hungry after our meal unfortunately and we are not big eaters. This is the only reason it gets 4 stars. Service was great, setting really cool with hanging pot plants etc and vibe friendly and relaxed you can even keep tied dogs at the front.

Lovely and friendly Barista and Staff. I ordered take away Peanut Butter Mocha ... was not on the menu but James , the barista made one for me anyways. It was interesting.... I liked it but my husband was not a fan. Anyway, it was a good experiment. The cafe is in the grey concrete building with red door. Good coffee and the environment is so lovely! Good to sit down relaxing chat with friends or business meeting. Or even work place to think and get creative.
My favourite café in Melbourne. Miss living right near here. The only overpriced café that makes you think 'Well okay I can see why it's priced like that'
They make chocolate here, so you can imagine how good a dark chocolate mocha will be. If you're a fan of feta cheese, pic a meal that's got some and see how amazing the taste is. I'm no veegitarian but I went with the full Veggie Breakfast and it was good.
We went specifically to taste the chocolates from Monsieur Truffe chocolates and they didn't disappoint. The decor was minimalist meets Bohemian (I mean we are in Fitzroy, what were we expecting?) And the sort of place you could spend the whole day.
But let's talk chocolates. The tasting flight is of all of monsieur truffe's nut bars, so none of the single origin or flavored bars (unless you can request?). It's a great way to try out the lineup. Do note that the cafe and chocolatier while sharing the same space do not share staff, so you're not getting an expert guided chocolate experience.
That said the staff at East elevation were amazing. We came near closing and they were still super welcoming and let us stay long enough to finish our chocolate and drinks at a relaxed pace. Their upbeat energy was infectious and just brings joy to those sharing space with them =D
A regular favourite. Delicious, healthy food, great selection. Usually very busy and a bit of a wait, but well worth it. We've been coming back regularly for years. Most meals are consistently fabulous, recommend the mushrooms and croque monsieur. Also the big breakfast- however this rather disappointingly is getting smaller in serving size. The last visit I questioned if that was a big brekkie? Perhaps it depends on the chef. Super amazing chocolate available and a buzzing atmosphere. We'll keep coming back.
