The food was very mild ( I would have preferred a little more spice!) but the flavours were delicious. The venue is great, with lively music that is not too loud! Large tables are expected to get the banquet, which annoyed us at first. But it ended up being quite reasonable. Good food, comfortable place. Will definitely go there again.

I love all of Jessi Singh's restaurants and Horn Please is no exception. The spot feels a bit more casual and lively than Daughter in Law but is otherwise similar, with a comparable menu and drink selection and Indian films projected on the wall. I was dining with my family so I got to sample a selection of dishes, some favourites of which were the turmeric yoghurt and pakora dish and (surprisingly), the naan and dip platter. I wouldn't have chosen to order this but did at my family's suggestion and will admit it would make a great addition to any meal. We also tried the fried okra, tandoori chicken and aloo baingan - all great. My dad even said it was the best Indian food he's ever had, so obviously they're doing something right.

Lovely service and amazing food. Very clean and inviting vibe.. the curries were so tasty and fresh with the meat cooked perfectly. Will ask for the food to be spicier next time though.

Came here for a food beer week function; the reminder phone call included advice to “be hungry”.
Well, we certainly needed to be.

The night started badly when I banged my head on the Uber’s door, so that must be why my review is a little cloudy, not the 5 beers they served that paired perfectly with the food. Apparently it’s the only good thing the British left in India! The food was delightful and plentiful and the service impeccable. It’s a wonderful special event and I can’t wait to be back for a regular service.

We went on Sunday to locals night and enjoyed the buffet for 25 per person. The food was great, with butter chicken, beef curry, veggie korma, Salad and several other dishes. Good value and great service. This was our second meal here we also enjoyed an off the menu night with 6 and everyone had a great meal and night also.

Great food, amazing ambience, very cooperative staff, one of the best experiences. Here we found some good fusion food and modern Indian style of serving. Though the place is kinda expensive, we think it’s worth it.

Jan 2020: came back this time for the banquet and the food was again excellent. Great value too for the amount of food we had, which included some of my favourites - the gol gappa and tandoori chicken. We also had the papadi chaat and cauliflower (both excellent). There was a good range of curries, with the dhal my favourite. Overall, excellent food, great value and very attentive staff.

Mar 2019: Excellent Indian food, great and attentive service and definitely somewhere I'll be back! We had gol gappa (panipuri) and although we couldn't customise it, the combination of flavours was wonderful if a little less spicy than traditional. The papadam with condiments was good, cheese naan was amazing and tandoori chicken was one of the best I've had: tender, succulent and well marinaded. We were already full by the time mains arrived, but butter chicken was good and paneer malai masala was ok. Mango lassi was nice too. Highly recommended.

This is one of my favourite restaurants currently. Delicious, well put together food. Modern Indian. Excellent service: I took my 8mo daughter and a friend here for an early dinner the other month. All the staff were so friendly and playing with my daughter. Really appreciate all your efforts! Beautiful restaurant aswell. Taken a few friends who now have taken their friends/family. Always hoping for another visit shortly after I’ve left.

Let me start by saying that this is now my favourite Indian food in Melbourne.  The service is quick and the curries are to die for.  We have had the butter chicken, goat curry and the dahl - they were all amazing.  The butter chicken in particular is by far the best I've tried anywhere - it is creamy and delicious with a beautiful flavour.  The dahl is outstanding as well, I never thought I would enjoy lentils that much!  We had the rice as well as the basket of naans and both were delicious.

My only criticism would be the entrees we tried on our first visit tasted quite similar (they were ok, but not wonderful) mainly due to the sauces they served them with which were over-sweet and in abundance, but not in a good way.  These were recommended by the waitress, which we found a little odd, since she assured us they were the favourites from the menu and we didn't really enjoy them.

Nevertheless we will definitely be back for the ah-maz-ing curries, naan and rice!

what a great curry house!

Easy to find on the tram route and enjoyed our visit from the moment we walked in.

Vibrantly decorated and the staff are glowing in their effort to please throughout our stay.

Starters were Crab Tiki, spot on as it was delicate and could taste and enjoy the crab,

Samosa plate was very enjoyable.

We share the two starters between two couples which was more than enough for a starter.

Goat Curry, tick. Rich and full of flavour, great job.

Butter Chicken, “the best best butter chicken I’ve ever had.

Village Lamb Curry was very enjoyable

Beef Lashooni was enjoyable

Absolutely delicious! So fantastic. The staff were the friendliest and the food. Wow! We chose the chef's selection and were so satisfied with the choices offered; tasty and colourful. The breads were charred and perfect to scoop up the creamy curries. The beers were reasonably priced and the variety of cocktails was excellent. But I want to just say thank you, the staff really were so friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back, either dining in or take away. Do try it!

Absolutely AMAZING! As soon as I stepped into the venue, I couldn’t stop smiling. It was such a lovely, lively atmosphere with great music. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. And the FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE. The most delicious Indian food I’ve had since I moved here. Such great value for money too. Can’t recommend it highly enough

Me and my partner came here for Valentine’s Day and enjoyed the set menu so much! They adhered to our vegetarian requirements so well and every meal was explained by our lovely waitress. They were all so tasty and we felt really impressed by the quality of food. The cocktails as well were amazing and all had such a unique flavour. Even though they were super busy we felt attended too and knew we could wave someone down if needed. Thank you so much for a lovely valentines dinner xx

We had a great Indian food experience in a relaxed environment. Absolutely superb flavors with quality ingredients in every dish and also excellent table service. I only wish there was a spicy vindaloo curry option on the menu. A very impressive restaurant.

Ambiance is really good. Amazing cocktails and starters. The food is unauthentic Indian food as they say so don’t expect spice. The main course was quite mild and rather sweet for us. The desserts were amazing as well. The servers are attentive and polite. Good overall experience a little disappointed with curries being sweet.

What a lovely experience! Although very busy the service was amazing. So much variety and great portions. The set $50 menu can't be beat as well. One can see the chefs working their magic in the kitchen which is nice. Highly recommend and will be back!

Save this for the most authentic and mouthwatering Indian feast in Fitzroy @hornplease that specialises in Indian curries, street food, desserts and cocktails. The food here is, hands down, truly one of the best Indian you’ll find in Melbourne also it reminded me of home, as everything tasted so real, desi and delicious. We loved the thali for $55pp that comes with an assortment of so many vegetarian and non vegetarian curries and lentils, besides naan and rice and that too you can get unlimited refill of everything in this thali. The best way to get a slice of real Indian flavours is through this thali here @hornplease The cocktails here are so refreshing and beautiful. The street food/entrees are so addictive and absolutely flavoursome. My favourite was the tandoori chicken and the Pani puri. And oh my the desserts, both kulfi and gulab jamun were extraordinary, irresistible and very yum. Must try. The service is very attentive and prompt even on a busy weekend. And the staff here are all very wonderful, kind and cheerful souls. The vibe here is very upbeat with an eccentric and vibrant decor. Celebrate 11th birthday of @hornplease on 14th August with 3hr bottomless brunch from 12-3pm with unlimited cocktails, wine and food for only $65pp. Book today before they are sold out, or if you can’t wait that long, visit today to enjoy a slice of India in the best possible and delectable way ever only @hornplease
