The green chicken curry is what I always come back for, but the salt & pepper calamari was so tender and flavoursome!
Having been to a number of restaurants on Rathdowne St, delighted to have finally made it to Koto Moon. Warm, snug, welcoming environment - lots of dark woods abound - and friendly and efficient service.
Food is glorious and large portions. It was fairly late when we arrived from an author's talk at nearby Carlton Library (around 815 or so) so didn't need lots of food - 2 mains and rice was more than sufficient. Thai chilli chicken and beef yakitori were the choices and both were excellent: soft, succulent meats and lots of flavour. $50 for two people (no alcohol): with an extra portion of rice, would have fed three!
Service lovely & great ambiance. Would definitely return & recommend others. The prawn dumpling chive filling was lovely - (skin was a bit thick & sticky), chicken & chestnut was better cooked. The green curry was beautiful, full of flavour, and the Assam rockling fish was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend. The roti was a bit under-cooked.
My number 1 to go to when im feeling like asian. I have been coming here for 6 years. Never have been dissapointed. Genuinely nice staff that will always help. My favourite is thai green curry chicken and the sui mai dumplings. Thanks for being so welcoming Chin Chin! Keep up the good work for many years to come.
Love this restaurant- staff are really great- seating us quickly getting a drink order while menus are left are all pretty standard as is getting a water bowl for the dog and a quick pat for her too - food is consistently good - great variety of foods, our favourites would be the pork buns, rock long fish with Assam sauce, stir fried beef with basil and chilli and the Chinese broccoli- good food consistently with service that never drops makes us return every week
Decided to finally give this place a try. The service was good and relatively quick. The food was nice, had good balance of flavours and well seasoned. I recommend the calamari. This is a nice local restaurant but is just missing that wow factor to make you come back for more in a hurry.
Always a fav since they opened. Great food. Great service. Great space. Love the mee goreng. Take always great too. Dumplings yummy. Way too many favs to list. Nothing bad.
If you're looking for a mix Asian Cuisine, this is the place to be. I just love the cosy atmosphere here. Place looks like an old house converted into a resto. The food was awesome, I can't complain. The service was excellent, waiters were quick and attentive and well priced menu. If there is anything to improve, it's the food presentation; for good photos.

Excellent Service especially to Jason (Manager). Fantastic job with connecting with the customers. The variety of Asian food are amazing and delicious.
Wasnt sure what kind of cuisine this place was but they did everything so well. So many people grabbing takeaway which was a good sign. The service was friendly and they catered to our dietary needs. Crispy prawn rolls were delicious and the red duck curry was amazing!!!

Chin Chins seems to be able to keep the standard up. My favourites are the special fried rice and fried calamari. The japanese style dishes are also very good. There is not a lot of staff warmth but the food is still good.
Try the crispy rockling special. It rocks! Dim sum is yum....delicious food at very reasonable prices. Thanks to all at Kyoto Moon.

We had a wonderful family lunch here last Sunday. Covid restrictions meant we couldn't have everyone at home so we were looking for a large private space as we are 9 adults and 3 babies/toddlers where we could enjoy a meal and not impact other guests. The restaurant opened for us and we enjoyed fabulous food, warm friendly service and some lovely wine. They were very generous hosts and our whole family had a great afternoon. We will be back ... thank you. Highly recommended.

I've eaten here many times and love it. Has consistently good quality and really interesting food and quick, efficient and friendly service. Two extra people turn up in your party - its not a bother! I always bring my annual visitors from provincial China here too - a great introduction for them to eating in the west for the first time, but enough familiar food for them to feel at home. Intimate and always bustling, I would recommend booking.
