Good selection of flavours, but nothing really stands out compared to the other ice cream stores on Lygon.
Will come back for:
+ Chocolate Chip Gelato
+ Mango Gelato
There’s a half a dozen gelato shops in this stretch in Lygon, so competition is pretty fierce. Gelatissimo holds it’s own well. The flavors of the gelato are true, and the gelato creamy, soft and stringy. A great treat on a warm summer night. Will definitely be back!
This place is under rated. The shop is too humble for it to buzz, however I love their low sugar sorbets. As someone who cares about what I eat, this place allow me to indulge without going over my calorie intake. Really hope all shops and restaurants can start going healthy and mark their nutrition value on the menu like this place.
In a very saturated gelato market, Gelatissimo in Lygon St delivers the goods exceptionally well. I love great quality gelato, and it's really good here. With loads of delicious flavours, it can be a very difficult choice at times. There is always a small selection of gourmet flavours... think salted caramel and New York cheesecake, or chocolate overload; but I chose the very traditional and classic pistachio.
The gelato was creamy and smooth with a delightful pistachio flavour, and it's vibrant green colour was eye catching. Service was speedy and friendly even though it was a busy weekend. The staff had it under control and are obviously used to larger crowds when the weather is good. Gelatissimo is definitely a great choice when you are craving something sweet and cold, and I can't wait to return to try other flavours.
😱Lizzie’s first impression: love coming back here especially during the warmer days - this place is still very popular despite so much competition along the street.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: Love that they have an abundance of flavours to chooes from - my favourite one is mango or any nut ones to be honest. They're so creamy and soft! Perfect for any occassion.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: It's hard not to go to Pidapippo down the road but always come back here once in a while.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great place for ice cream and definitely recommend any of the nutty flavoured icecreams.
While there are lots of artisan gelato places popping up, Gelatissimo has been quietly innovating away with a bunch of new flavours that come out. Lygon Street can be particularly brutal a market to crack when it comes to gelato.
I must admit, I slept on Gelatissimo dismissing it as a chain. However, my mind was changed when I walked past the sign that said Bundaberg Ginger Beer gelato, and I had to try it. It was spectacular. While looking, I saw other flavours that looked interesting also. Since then I have tried other limited edition flavours by Gelatissimo such as Ruby chocolate pink lemonade, creamy egg, purple cookies and rollercoaster surprise. I hope they get the recognition they deserve, there is nothing vanilla about this place – although they serve vanilla. Bravo.
Can't really remember how many times I've been here but the gelato has always been great and they really take pride in their presentation... the display cases look great with all the flavour colors there to entice and confuse you at the same time! There are also a few seats outside to sit and watch the world go by. Worth a visit.
Love this place ! One satisfy scoop of ice cream helps to kick the blue away. Love the rum rasin and tiramisu the most. This is my go-to ice cream place, no matter if it is winter or summer
It's 12:14am right now & I was heading to Gelatissimo from Brunswick. Running short on time craving some delicious cookie dough gelato. It was supposed to close at 12am but instead the staff was so kind to wait up for me and extend the time by 10 mins.
Super friendly staff with a great wide variety of flavors.
Thank you so much for your kindness guys!
Tried their tiramisu gelato in cone and double chocolate milkshake. No regret!! Will be back for other flavour. Service very friendly. Location is just nice for after meal.
