Food great, wait staff good, wine service very slow both our table and the table next to us. Very generous veal. Impressed by the massive long pizza delivered to the next table.

Pretty underwhelming food for the price. Service was friendly but fairly inattentive. Shame because the setting is really well done.
Ronni Scrapsaver
Service was great but the pork was a little on the tough side. Lucky we had a discount voucher.

The restaurant must have updated their decor and service since the reviews below. Very neat atmosphere, friendly staff and quick service. Very happy with the pizza we ordered. Perfectly cooked base and fresh tasting toppings and a decent price. Will come again.

I always have loved this place although something has changed.
I could remember coming here as a young boy and it has always been a family favourite.
Well.. until now that is.
New owners and management have bought in confusing size choices, ordinary pizza (the base is still good) and an unprofessional feel. All i could focus on while eating was the manager sitting to the right of us an array of cables running across the floor to her laptop.
If you come here, I wouldn't suggest the metre or even the half metre as you only get to toppings

My wife, not being Italian, won’t generally eat pizza. Well, this place won her over. She lived the pastry and the toppings. The antipasto platter was fresh and abundant. Cosy, comfortable and an extensive menu that is not daunting. Good selection of drinks and attentive service by knowledgeable staff.

Pinocchio's is a great place to grab some excellent tasting pizza. The menu is simple and offers great choice, prices are mainly around $20-25 for a main course but there are offers and specials on. I took advantage of the $25 beer and pizza deal which was great. By far my favourite item are the breadsticks, they are a must. A relatively low key environment that is family friendly and with the take out next door you can choose whether to sit in or take out. Ample seating inside with a small seating area out the front. It had a good selection of drinks and the staff were friendly and courteous. I would and have been back!
HC “HC-Show Over” Show Over
Pretty decent pizza. Friendly servers. Slow service though, takes a long time to get served. Seems like they take your order and then forget you are even there. Which would be more understandable if you weren't the only person in the restaurant at the time. Eaten there several times. Best tasting pizza in the area.

The bases are exactly what you’d want in a wood fired pizza: crispy and light springy doughiness with the right amount of bite, topped off with a gorgeous char. The tomato base is perhaps on the sweeter side but the freshness of the accompanying toppings definitely help to balance this out. Creamy and fresh bufala mozzarella, yes please!

Came here specifically for the chocolate pizza which we had seen in a blog article. We had the chicken pizza for mains which was the greatest probably fault on our end for ordering something different and not sticking to something traditional. The chocolate pizza was so yummy, definitely hits the sweet spot.

Had the lovely opportunity for a 3 course dinner here! Really convenient location just across the station. The fried calamari appetiser was perfectly crisp and golden brown. We ordered the Carne pizza - the tomato base and the crust were perfect - I probably should've gotten a less meatier option because the cured meats got really salty after eating a while! Ended the night with a well-balanced tiramisu.

Having eaten pasta the night before we settled on meat main courses - chicken Marsala with roasted klipfer potatoes and broccolini and porterhouse steak with pepper sauce , roasted klipfers, roasted cherry tomatoes and asparagus.<br/><br/>Both were excellent - the chicken Marasala was probably the best we have had. The steak was well cooked to the medium requested. <br/><br/>Service was friendly and efficient. Only (very) slight negative comment was that it took about 45 mins for our food to arrive despite the restaurant not being that busy. But, the food was definitely worth the wait. <br/><br/>Highly recommended. Fair prices and they are BYO if you want that, at $10 bottle corkage

Really great pasta, pizza, and wine selection. Staff were really friendly and accommodating to us and our 19month old daughter. I had the Bolognese Pasta which was really good. Will come back if we get a chance real soon to try the other delicious food on the menu.

Food was ok but left disappointed with the service. Remember to ask if there’ll be additional charges when you change toppings on their pizzas. I ordered the Rustica and Fughi pizzas for dinner with my family, since both had fennel sausages on them and my daughter loves ham, I asked the waitress/manager if I could swap the sausages to ham on one of the pizzas. She said “yes, no problem”. But when I got my bill, I was charged for adding ham. Out of curiosity, I asked the same waitress/manager why she didn’t mention anything about additional charges when I ordered. She scoffed at me and said every single restaurant does that. Look..money is not the problem but her attitude, tone of voice, look on her face were big problems! She could have apologized for forgetting to mention when I ordered but no, she’s implying that charging customers more is common knowledge and as if I should’ve known this. She proceeded to ask if I want to pay my bill or not, hoping to end our debate. At this point, my blood was boiling, not only did she insult me nor respect me as a customer, she even tried to usher me out! I asked to speak to the owner, and she said she’s the manager so she’s in charge in the restaurant. Anyway, the chef/owner came out and spoke to me, and he eventually apologized to us on her behalf. At the end of the ordeal, she did not even utter an apologetic word nor look like she felt sorry. This is one of the worst dining experiences I have had, will definitely not go back to this establishment until their staff are properly trained.

On Wednesday 8th October 2014 I went there with Ashley and I ordered a Penne Carbonara but they put herbs right through it so I honestly couldn't eat it as I am allergic to herbs. The manager was kind enough to give me a $12 discount off my meal. Also Ashley ordered a Chicken Risotto and she really enjoyed it.

They have a cool pizza oven, however the traditional Italian pasta is the real star of this place. Great food and the place has a great vibe to it. Mid range pricing and is perfect for a date or catch up with friends because it’s not too loud and not too big, almost a hidden gem.
Peter
Ordered 2 large pizzas through menulog. It took almost 2 hours to get delivered and they refused to offer any refund or compensation. Could not contact them as they had already closed and no phone call recieved to notify me of any delays. Will not be back

Pinocchio is an Italian place in South Yarra. Here they do good quality food but the service can be slow. They are right near the train station. They have been featured a few times in the Italian Good Food week. And since it is good food week I decided to visit. The entree of aranchini ball was lovely and addictive. It was crunchy on the outside and piping hot on the inside.
Brad George
The best pizza and pasta around. Can’t ask for friendlier staff or better service. A regular customer for years, we love taking our friends here for a casual dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. Don’t miss the steak or parma nights too!

Love here :)<br/>Great location. Easy to get here.<br/>Manager was nice and friendly.<br/>Pizza was awesomely great.<br/>I really enjoyed and will be there again

I liked my experience here. To me it was really enjoyable pizza, but didn't have an overly generous amount of toppings. Had one salami and one seafood pizza. They were both pretty satisfying and the sauce had a great flavour to it. The staff were friendly, but made me feel sorta awkward and young. It was really uncomfortable atmosphere, probably because they weren't very busy at the time.
Katiie Arch
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Our staff member hovered over our table more often than needed which was slightly frustrating but we loved the restaurant. Duck pasta was amazing, our pizzas were nice however quite salty.. the base was amazing.. and we also had the fish special which was raved about!
Hithere
Pizza is the best around the area.<br/>Dessert is simple and well priced.<br/>Staff is welcoming and with good personality. I think there is a new manager that is changing a few things around. Music is nice and atmosphere is relaxed.
MelbourneLops
Fresh and tasty pizzas for the win. This was our first meal in Melbourne. We were over tired, jet lagged and in need of a quick, hot bite to eat. They have great specials and really friendly Italian staff. Have a feeling this is going to become our local pizza joint!
Emily Morris
Not memorable. Food was average needed more seasoning especially the pasta. It was cooked well but lacked flavour. Service is great and the atmosphere is nice they just need to pay more attention to their food. <br/>

I didn't expect too much and it was pretty good. I saw lots of people coming and grab their take away so I assume it's welcomed by the local residents. To say overpriced...i wouldn't. ingredients(toppings) were obviously not low cost. So it's not going to be an affordable tasty pizza but rather a moderate price delicious one.
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?
Came here with a big group on a Saturday night.<br/>We ordered a meter long pizza and a half meter. <br/>It was delicious!! I must say the base was cooked perfect, there was a substantial amount of ingredients on it and was cooked consistently well throughout the whole pizza. I would of liked a little more salt in the base or maybe in the sauce. I love trying the base and i found it just needed a bit of seasoning. I added some chili flakes and that was pretty good with it. Yes it was a little over priced i must say as were the cocktails. <br/>The staff were very friendly and attentive. <br/>Happy we came here and tried it.<br/>Would i come back? If im in the area and feel like pizza then Yes!
Paul M
Went in @ ordered 3 take away pizzas.<br/>Inside the restaurant looked like a very nice place to dine.<br/>Pizzas were terrific.<br/>I recommend going in and trying their Pizza's.
Anja Sjögren
I don't really know why there are such low scores on this site sometimes. (are we reviewing the same place??) First of all the food is so nice. I can be pretty picky with ingredients, so flexibility is great for me when choosing my pizzas. Pinocchio's just the place. The crust is to die for. Lots of options for “poor vegetarian me”, it's always a relief not to feel limited when dining out. And the pizza and beer combo is awesome!
Arijit Das
Don't you just love a boutique pizza parlour that lets you customize it's pizzas? That's Pinocchio for you. Remove this add that - no worries. Prawn pizza with goats cheese (Mari E Manti) without any of the annoying olives (they are healthy so I don't mind them otherwise but just on a pizza as I find the taste too overbearing!). Their base is unique - you almost feel you are eating sourdough - it's chewy and elastic but in a nice kinda way.

I love the pizza here! Was in South Yarra for a couple of nights and had take away pizza from here, and it was so good!! So good we came back the next night and ordered take away pizza again! Also mentioning this place in the office had a couple of work colleagues also say the same thing, great pizza!
Samantics
One of my favorite pizza places in South Yarra. I've only tried take away at this place but they are prompt and all the pizzas that I've tried are really good.<br/>
Grace Sia
A delightful Italian restaurant with very high quality pizza that trumps Domino’s every single time. I came here with my brothers and ordered a few dishes to share. First up was meatballs. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt since my first amazing Italian experience at Wolfgang Puck in Vegas it’s that they can make killer meatballs. This was no exception.

I visited this location twice and have mixed feelings about it. Our first visit we came for the Monday pizza special that includes their draft beer for $20. We ordered the Rustica tomato base pizza and the Bari no tomato base pizza. The pizzas were very good. There was a nice cornmeal coating to the bottom of the dough and it was so crisp and thin. While we enjoyed the chili fennel sausage and creamy cheese on the Rustica, we absolutely loved the garlic cream sauce used in the Bari. Our meal came to $40 and we had a $100 gift certificate to use. We were given a hard time trying to use the gift certificate because they were insisting it needed to be used all in one shot, despite no fine print or conditions written on it. Eventually the owner let us use the gift certificate and gave us three $20 gift certificates in exchange, but kept repeating how they would normally not do this. I suppose it was nice of them to allow us to use the gift certificate in the end, but I didn't enjoy the experience that they were doing me a favor for something they weren't explicit about. <br/><br/>We visited again to try their Tuesday steak night. We had a 250 gram porterhouse steak, which came with chips, salad, and a glass of wine. The rocket salad was one of my favorite parts and was nicely dressed. Their chips are big and meaty, with the perfect amount of seasoning and crispness. The steak was just okay. The service was good, but I still felt a little degraded.<br/><br/>Overall, I highly recommend the pizza, but I can't say the experience was worth it. Maybe opt for take out.
Sherin Philip
Great ambience at this place. Definately seems popular, it was difficult to get a table here. The food was alright. For me, all the dishes wernt properly seasoned and the portions were small. The service was good.

Came here for dinner on Friday night relatively early and the service was great, menu explained and help provided with the wine list. Chose antipasto share plate and a great wine which was decanted in front of us. Antipasto wasn't a lot of food for two people, we then had pizza just sharing a regular which was very good! My wine glass was topped up over the course of dinner without me noticing which I really appreciate and what I expect at high end restaurants ( I didn't expect that level of service here). Pity we had to leave right after pizza due to work commitments as I wanted to start for desert and more wine. I will be back. Thanks for a good experience.
Sam
This place is pretty good. You'll always feel comfortable here. Service and food are consistent. The boss seems to be a lovely guy. It's the kind of place you can go anytime be it a date or with the family. The only thing I don't like is the wine with the steak deal. Undrinkable. But I sing the praises of the antipasto, slow cooked meat, bolognaise, duck risotto is amazing, and the desserts are good too. A regular reliable place to visit.
Melbourne Foodie Memoirs
Great local pizza spot. Varied menu. <br/><br/>We are always surprised Pinocchio isn't rated higher. We always thoroughly enjoy the food and the service is great too. They always manage to fit us in, even at the last minute! We always go for the Tutto Carne Pizza and it is delicious, although quite spicy! The Caprese Salad is a very generous. They often have some great specials too.
Sweet Cloud
Went there with friend tonight. Had been there four times, I think they are getting better. Staff were friendly, and food was fine. Pasta still have room to improve. Was a much better place compare where I went for coffee this afternoon-----Monkey bean in toorak village, it is the worst place in south yarra and toorak. Not joking.
Dan
Haven't been here in years, but they felt the need to SMS me about their latest "specials". The pizzas are rubbish since the original owners sold the place and are oddly enough more expensive. <br/>In short don't spam people who obviously don't like your food and don't call your food famous when nobody has ever heard of it.

Now every time we go here there's a different experience to be had. I have been here heaps but I have not been there without a problem unfortunately. My relatives ordered a glass of wine which the waiters said they did not have and was sorry, but guess what?<br/>THEY PUT IT ON THE BILLS STILL!!!<br/>They took about half an hour to serve the drinks and meals, however the hawaiian pizza i ordered was delicious! I scoffed down the whole lot! Expensive pizzas.<br/>I like dance music but not at that place! I do still enjoy the food and atmosphere at this restraunt though.
Adam Muftar
Food was good however the rude customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. Whilst having dessert and coffee the waiter bought out the bill and asked us to leave as he needed the table for the next customers. On my out I noticed a few empty tables and no customers waiting.<br/>

After eating here about a month ago with my parents, we decided that this would be the perfect place to have a family dinner to celebrate my 40th birthday and my nieces 11th birthday. Sadly we were mistaken. Service was terrible - there were 16 of us (including 5 children) and although the kids meals came out relatively quickly as requested with our bread, the adult mains took just under 2hours to come out. Furthermore after requesting more water for the tables, that too did not come until our coffees arrived 2 and half hours later. We questioned our waiter who said (without checking with the kitchen) meals are 3mins away - after a further 15mins he came back and said there was a computer glitch and they would be out soon. After a further 20mins we decided we would need to have the birthday cake as the kids were tired and restless. When we approached the waiter to arrange this he said our meals were just being plated up. Our meals came out 2mins later and to our great disappointed all meals were lukewarm at best - how is this possible if they were just plated up? The 2 Carbonara dishes were also overcooked so I suspect these had been ready for some time. Not once did our waiter or the manager offer an apology. We had waited so long for the meals we could possible send them back. My mother phoned the next day to convey her disappointed and was told by the person she spoke to that as we wasn't working that night he would find out what happened and call her back - of course we are yet to receive that phone call. Very disappointing customer service all round

Had a very nice dinner at Pinocchio's, the pasta was great! Big menu with lots of Classic Italian dishes and some more interesting modern choices.

Can't speak highly enough of this place. Food is amazing, and the staff are fantastic. Great place to end our first night in Melbourne! <br/>
Anne
Italian cuisine with reasonable prices and a varied menu but the service was disappointing......especially when they weren't overly busy! It would be good for a family meal during the week.
MariMelb
Personally, the best pizza restaurant in Melbourne. They have a variety of pizzas to choose from and bases are thin, so you don't walk out feeling like you've eaten an elephant. Very authentic.
Miss South Yarra
This is one of my favourite Friday night restaurants for after work. Stand out items are the arancini and the Nanna's Meat Balls which I get every time. I'm not a big meat eater and I loved the beef ragu! The staff are always friendly and the selection of wine is superb.

Great food, great staff. Professional and friendly staff . Delicious food and yummy sweets . I ate one of the best steak that I could ever had. Thanks guys we had great night.
M. A.
Delicious. We used our red balloon voucher which included a 4 course meal and 2 glasses of wine each. We had an antipasto to share, an entree to share, a main meal each and desert to share. The food was amazing and delicious and we left so full and satisfied. The service was very professional. We will definetly go again.

Scary Management. I concur with other postings. The big manager scares everybody, staff and customers. They have a 20 % surcharge on public holidays but this information is available on their website and it is your problem if you do not refer to it beforehand. I really think some work needs to be done in marketing and perhaps social media rather than strong arm tactics.
Mischy30
Rude management. On a recent trip to this restaurant the food seemed ok but the staff seemed really frazzled mainly because of there micro managing manager who seemed to be blunt and rude not only to staff but customers ... Not the sort of atmosphere I want to be paying top dollar for thanks .. Some tips in friendliness could do wonders here ..
Stuck In Transit
The menu here is quite extensive with a range of 27 different style pizzas plus pasta, risotto, meat and antipasto sharing dishes. Each dish is created using simple rustic Italian ingredients to stay true to its culture. We started with the 'Antipasto Misto' , which was a chef's selection of Artisan made cured meats, Italian cheeses, olives and marinated vegetables. The selection was beautiful, however was a bit on the pricey side for what was actually given. They also had a daily special on 'Arancini' , which were beautifully crumbed. The flavour was simple, however the combination of the cheese and mayo were a classic mix. For the pizza, we decided to go with 3 pizzas in the hopes that we would have left overs to bring home with us. We started with the 'Tutto Carne' , which was San Marzano tomato, fior di latte, soppressa, San Daniele prosciutto and hot N’duja salami. This was the spiciest of the pizza's we ordered with the N'duja salami giving the pizza a real kick. The 'Calabrese' was a beautiful mix of San Maranzo tomato, fior di latte, soppressa salami, roasted red peppers, artichokes, olives and oregano. This is your typical traditional style pizza that we almost always get when we head of out pizza. The last of our pizza's was the 'Rustica', another classic pizza with San Marzano tomato, chilli & fennel sausage, fresh smoked buffalo mozzarella and roma tomatoes. It was hard to decide which was our favourite pizza of the night. They all had beautiful fresh and simple ingredients that all worked well together. The crust was thin and crispy, exactly what you'd want to get the most out of the flavours on the pizza. There was really nothing to fault here, everything from the service to the food were all excellent and looking forward to coming back again!

Pinocchio's Pizza Restaurant is a fabulous Italian restaurant in trendy South Yarra that has recently undergone a transformation of note. After 40 years of successful trading the restaurant has lost its 70s mission brown and straw roofing for a modern fit out with stunning Pinocchio themed art work on the walls, modern lighting and panelling, and one of the coolest vibes in the precinct.
Let Me Feed You
In all, a very satisfying meal at Pinocchio's - a number of very strong performers out of the dishes we tried, with the lamb panino and squid ink tagliatelle particularly standing out. Well worth a visit if you're in the area and in the mood for some quality Italian fare in a stylish setting. Thanks again for such a hospitable evening to the team at Pinocchio's!
Sofia Levin
Only Italian restaurants can feed diners like we were fed on that fateful night. It all started with uncertainty: unsure of what to order, we asked the chef to bring us some dishes that best reflected the whole menu. The result? We were served enough food for six people.

Turning off Chapel Street we break into a light jog along Toorak Road – it is pouring with rain and we are tempted to dive into the tried and tested spice temple that is Dainty Sichuan . But we persevere, passing South Yarra station (a first for us – we normally catch a glimpse of France Soir as we scooter by, but have never really explored this stretch) and reach our destination feeling more than a little bit bedraggled. Happily, within seconds we are seated – him with a tumbler of negroni, her with a 250ml carafe of sangiovese – phew. Now a quick word about serving sizes and wine. Sometimes, 150ml just doesn’t do the job, but ordering more than a couple of glasses of wine feels excessive. And sometimes you want the same wine as your co-eater, but aren’t sure you can stretch to a bottle. Hoorah then for the tiny handful of restaurants that offer carafes. With 250ml and 500ml serves available, the gap between one glass and one bottle is bridged perfectly. The negroni slips down a treat
Minda Barley
The slice of pizza I had was good - thin and crispy, sweet tomato and creamy cheese.
I Eat Therefore I Am
The restaurant has been refurbished last year and definitely looks nice and contemporary. Semi industrial elements are scattered around the room, with the walls dominated by large drawings of Pinocchio in silhouette form, very nice.

Disappointing. So we were gifted a Groupon for this place as a present and immediately we felt we were treated lesser than your average diner. Take note, someone did actually pay for this you know, it's not 'free' as what our waiter kept telling us. Service was so, so slow despite there being more than enough staff and not being that busy; a couple who ordered their desserts after us received theirs first and once desert did come out, there was a spider in my husband's tiramisu. Upon telling the waiter we received no apology, and was then told they could not replace it as they had run out. And, we even paid a bit extra (for some half melted gelato btw) and the waiter did not even listen to me and charged the wrong<br/>account on my card. So... Thanks for ruining what could have been a nice night out and enjoying a lovely gift.

Wasn't he a naughty wooden puppet?. Nice food.. shame about the service.<br/>Having eaten at the restaurant many times previously I was disappointed last night with the general change of attitude toward diners. The 'fast music and hard chairs' scenario is common, but when you have 3 different staff pushing your group to order and then plates are cleared as soon as any person has finished their meal, you know that management have changed their view of the importance of their clients.<br/>..And then they asked us for a tip.. well here it is - remember that Ecco are just up the road, and they have great service and serve great Italian food.
Kimmy_desu
Great tasting board, especially the calamari. Was getting a bit restless from waiting between the courses but when the mains came out they were absolutely delicious. Pork belly was oozing with juice and steak was cooked so tender. Service was good too and I really like this place!
Sortil
Frequently order delivery from here because of their above average pizza and pasta. Tonight the carbonara arrived and it was completely inedible. The pasta was cooked within an inch of its life and tasted like dish water. What usually is a creamy egg/Parmesan sauce that coats the penne, resembled instead a dry, tasteless concoction with what looked like melted coon cheese with bacon bits that had more fat than meat on it. At $20+ for a bowl - a disgrace!
Msalhan
Ripped off. I went with my family to Pinocchios on boxing day, they let us know there would be 20% surcharge as it was a public holiday, however they were understaffed and we waited over 30 minutes to receive our drinks, everything took too long to come out, even the waiters were apologizing for being understaffed..."hey its not our fault, we're paying 20% extra surcharge"
Mary Merrington
Disappointing. Service was slack and waiters very confused! Pork belly was over cooked and outside skin burnt to a char! Served with a teaspoonful smear of a vegetable puree and a few slices of uncooked apple! I said.....is that all there is? Expected much better for the area.

Great pizza went couple weeks ago on Monday nite very good value $18 all you can eat pizzas but a little disappointed that before I paid the bill the waiter toll me that the special was not on any more i liked the fact the for $18 it was a pretty good deal and the beer 5 to 7 only $5 hope the are going to keep the deal after all great pizza one off the best around this area good friendly staff and extent customer service will be back grazie

Love Pinocchio. Have been to Pinocchio a number of times, since I live locally. Really like it! We've never had a bad experience. The service is great and the food really nice. I recommend it.

I love this place! From the moment we walked in we had service! And that's what it was all about! Service was exceptional. The food was authentic tasty and ticked all the boxes! Will definitely recommend and come back!

The service is terrible!!!! .... The service is terrible!!!!<br/>Food is nice but unfortunately the service ruined everythig!!! Do not order by the phone they do not get one right. I was a usual custmer i use to eat in or order at least once a week but i am not going anynore there for the terrible service and i stopped to order food to delivery after more then three times they stuffed up in two weeks...do not suggest it. Even if the food at the end is nice It is not worthed to waiste a night trying to get the right food you have ordered. Is plenty of nice italian restaurant in the area. E.g. "Ecco" across the road

Waited an hour for my pizza. Called only to be told that it would be another half hour. In the end the cold pizza wasn't even what I ordered... Devo

Don't respect the time of the order. Order a pizza to be delivered. The pizza arrived 15 min too early event after mentioning that I wanted later.<br/>So the pizza arrived home before me and was cold and disgusting. Over price and really average.

Pinocchio @ SY. Had dinner there the other night and LOVED the pizza! Ended up talking to a chef named Sunny in the takeaway area and he was nice enough to chat despite an obviously busy Friday night. Was warmly welcomed by the barman, Nick or Mick or something which was nice considering other staff members were attending their tables. My son enjoyed the bufala even though afterwards we were told they do have a margherita pizza just it wasn't on the menu. My Wife had the 'Panino' burgers and they were pricey for the size but 10/10 for taste. Staff were responsive enjoyable to talk to. I definitely be going back soon.

We had a really nice time Pinocchio food is amasing.

Best Italian in Melbourne. We adore this place. The service is great and the food so very tasty. We live nearby and have been many times; we're moving to other side of the city soon and are completely devastated that we'll be so far away from our beloved Pinocchio!! If you don't feel like eating in the take away pizza are the best!<br/><br/><br/>-----14 Jun, 2014-----<br/><br/>Favourite place on the south side!. We LOVE this restaurant. The services is just exceptional and the food delish. Every time we've been there there has been a great atmosphere with diners ranging from couples to large families. They make a great espresso martini as well! Just cannot speak highly enough of this place :)

Is the reason you call yourself Pinocchio's because u lie about having quality food? <br/>Or because your prices are as big as his nose?

Amazing pizzas, and the chips are sooo good. Bit pricey but definitely will be back

Mothers day let down. We just took our family here for mothers day dinner. The menu looked great so we ordered a variety of dishes and the service was good. Unfortunately the food wasn't. The arancini balls were quite ordinary. Although the pizza was good, the pastas were not. We had the Basil, Crab & Ricotta Ravioli, Fruitti De Mare, and the Mushroom & Duck Tortellone. At $26.90 each we were expecting something decent. They charged us almost $27 for 4 pieces of crab ravioli. Not only could I not taste the crab, but it was drowned in a thick, heavy tomato sauce. The Fruitti De Mare and Duck Tortellone was poorly under-seasoned. I added salt but doesn't mean it adds flavour. I don't know how this place survives with the quality of food it provides. I can get MUCH better food elsewhere that costs less.
Ashley
Terrible service, terrible food. The waitresses were rude and spoke with an impatient tone. The food was just horrible, not even worth writing a review about.<br/>Don't waste your money on Pinocchio's - instead try Versachi's across the road. For the same price per meal and better service, I guarantee it'll be much more worth it.

Love it!. Love this place! Been here several times recently and each time the pasta and pizza has been consistently delicious and well presented. Waitstaff always friendly! Free nutella pizza just for taking a selfie and checking in - how can you say no?!<br/><br/>Dined a couple weeks ago and felt so sorry for the lovely manager (I presume) who was being loudly berated by a woman and her friends in the back private section because their "orders were wrong" and god knows what else they was complaining about. So so rude. I just wanted to go give the poor lady a hug!

Friendly service and good food :). I really loved this place, it was the one of the first places my family and I went to while we were in melbourne and it was also one of the best as well. the starters we had were really tasty, and we all enjoyed our main meals. I had pizza and i tried some of the gnocci they were both yum. the staff were so friendly and actually talked to us which was so nice and is part of the reason we would want to go back the next time we are in melbourne

One of the nicest pizzas in town, not oily or heavy. High quality produce used.

Delivery not so great. Pizza was bland and dough was awful, versachi's is a way better bet for your buck.

I came here on my own while on a work trip and it was fantastic. The menus is great, not overwhelming but contains everything one could want from an Italian pasta / pizza point of view. The quality of food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and happy to help. I really enjoyed my visit and I shall be back soon.

Never again. Rude staff , horrible food.

What a great night we had at this restaurant! We had been to the old Pinocchio many years ago before the renovations and it was always ok, but they've really upped the bar now. A girl with short dark hair looked after us and she was superb. I think she was also the duty manager for the evening but was able to juggle us and a few other tables as well as looking after the whole of the restaurant tasks. We had a great Italian red that I had never tried before and the food was just outstanding. We will be back. The new Pinocchio is great!

Excellent. We ( family of 5 ) went to Pinocchio's Sth Yarra on Saturday night. We live on the other side of town but find ourselves going back often. The staff are excellent which is hard to find these days. The food has never been a let down, pizza outstanding, and I keep ordering the lamb shoulder on artichoke puree ! Great restaurant which we keep going back to. It is so enjoyable I took my staff there for a break up. The manager assembled a special menu for us, nothing was too much trouble for them. I will keep going back.

Great Staff. The friendliest and most accommodating staff and I found overall the food was good. We shared a number of entrees and though servings were small for the price they were tasty and interesting. The winner was the seafood pizza it was awesome! Wines are a little pricey, get there during happy hour if you want more than one drink! I've been there twice now and I'll be going back, largely because there are lots of places you can get good food but it tastes even better when the staff are great!

Pizza Pasta, loving it. Well Done great food, pizza pasta cakes was magic loved it. More than just a pizza pasta place. Very good wine selection. Check it out be back soon.

Talk about a disappointment. The service was fine, but the food was another story. I can't even describe how bad the entrees were. Drinks are well overpriced for a place like this, and take note Pinocchio's, your customers wine by the glass should never come out of a hose! And $13 for a glass, umm, I don't think so. To give them some credit, the pizza was nice. Sadly, too much has been spent decking this place out, but not enough going into the quality or attention of the food. Nice place to walk past, but not so good to walk in.

No thanks. Terrible soggy pizza and poor service. What happened to this place?

Wonderful service, menu &food. I had lunch there as well as dinner. Both experiences were great. For lunch I had salad - excellent & for dinner beef cheeks ( also excellent).

My meatballs were cold and my pasta boiling hot. Not a good sign. Did inform the waitress and she was very apologetic. But don't think we will return

Would not delivery within delivery area. I order regularly from Pinnochio's at my home in South Yarra however when trying to order from my office in Cremorne which is clearly in their delivery area, they refused to.<br/><br/>http://www.pinocchiopizza.com.au/menus/take-away.html<br/><br/>It is 3 minutes from Pinnochio's to my house in South Yarra and 6 minutes to my office in Cremorne. Ridiculous.

Not just pizza. Shared the cicchetti board and contorni with the redwine braised baby octopus the favourite. Finished with the best espresso martini ever!! Friendly staff thank you for an enjoyable evening

Punch in the face, not by the flavour.. To charge mid -> high end prices the flavour was expectant to be amazing. sadly not. heading into the restaurant 12 in the afternoon, me and the fam were the only ones here. waitress was more than helpful, but also tried upselling anything she can. ordering pizza with anchovies and olives, we recieved eggplant and meatballs, soggy base and very bland in taste. marinara was generous in proportion, but again, for 25 odd dollars i expected seafood pasta ZING! , sadly no ZING. if your looking for modern italian, head to sapore instead, they never disappoint.

What happened?!?. Another example of what used to be a fantastic restaurant ruined when new owners take over.

Used to be a fantastic place but then they changed the menu to make it more upscale and it all went down<br/>The pizzas are fresh but fall apart the moment you eat them<br/>Too much topping and the base is thin as. And the toppings are not even after you pay extra to add it to the pizza<br/>Used to be great gone downhill now

Food is good and Francesca the waitress is fantastic. Unfortunately it seems someone lacks planning ability... We booked for 8 and had 7 yet the other waitress decided she needed to take one of the tables for another table... it would have meant we were very squashed as a table of 7... after a slightly heated discussion we got a table back and was told there actually was a spare one in the basement?!? Wouldn't you plan ahead for your actual bookings? Now good lovely - but they ran out of Spaghetti polpete at 720pm?!? On a long weekend? Ordered a bottle of red was lovely but only 2 in stock ok fair game... ordered a different red and when poured was told it was the only bottle... 2 strikes already... now we order a 3rd bottle (4th actual one as we had drunk both first choices) and were told that there were only 2 bottles of that one as well!!! Um?!? WTF someone needs to stock that cellar properly! Also one of our party is gluten intolerant and ordered a gluten free pizza yet 5 mins before we got mains were told no more gluten pizza.... it's now 830pm.... Seriously?! We won't go back ever. Food flavour is great but service from the greater team was lacking. Having to choose our wine 3 times and then told they would run out of the latest bottle and also could give us the meals we wanted FAIL. Don't bother go spend elsewhere.

Totes amaze balls. Loved this place for over 12 months. Never a bad pizza and they've amped up their game with the renos. Love the gamberi and pizza bread. Dudes are really nice. Should be rated higher fellas. Moving next week so cheers for feeding me well.

Love this place! We walked in off the street, no booking. The staff were welcoming, accommodating and knew their menu. Pizza was REALLY tasty. Best pizza I have had in years. I'm an advocate!

It's Pinocchios Jim(my), but not as we know it.... Trading on the original 1971 Pinocchios name really is bit of a travesty.<br/><br/>The latest (3rd) incarnation of this once hallowed South Yarra institution is far removed from the 1971-2006ish rustic, cheap & cheerful BYO with friendly, personal and efficient service and home-cooked food we all knew and loved for 30+ years (yes, we still remember you Frank, our fave Pinocchio Waiter: R.I.P.). Stars of stage and screen ate here alongside students, families, and everyone else who enjoyed Jimmy and his team’s warm welcome and great pizza/pasta. <br/><br/>At Pinocchios Version 3.0 we are now looking at a starting price of $40 for a bottle of pretty ordinary wine and pizzas starting in the high teens: being on Toorak Rd the phrase “Tourist Trap” springs readily to mind...<br/><br/>There are plenty of better options around town: not least of which is Jimmy’s (from the original Pinocchio’s) own takeaway outlet on Commercial Rd, South Yarra (opp Officeworks). And yes he offers plenty of excellent 2013 style gourmet pizzas to choose from as well as the old 1970s-1990s originals - and they also deliver to your door.

Amazing service, great local pizza place in south Yarra, service and atmosphere is perfect for a night out with friends or family. <br/>we had an issue with one of our meals and the quality of service was exceptional. <br/>can't recommend this establishment enough.

Nice atmosphere, ok food but disorganised service. I really like the interior of this place - crisp decor but warm & inviting and smells great when you walk in. I went for the Ragusa pizza - great if you like REALLY strong cheese(!) but I found it a bit overpowering, plus I couldn't really taste any balsamic. I'm sorry to say that the service was a bit disappointing - it wasn't particularly busy when we arrived and I did think there were a lot of staff around, but no-one seemed to 'own' our table and the starter and main both took forever to come - so much so that two diff waiters asked if wanted to see the desert menu! We weren't the only ones either - the table next to us were seated and not given menus, plus there was some confusion with the waiting staff about what they had ordered. Am hoping this was a one off & might try it again but not in a hurry to rush back...
