We have booked a business dinner. The manager over there is so nice and willing to answer all our question when helping us to decide the food.T he whole dinner is perfect and give us a reasonable price. It's really hard to find a decent place for a real Chinese meal with a delicate environment in Melbourne right now.
I have to say this is the best quality opening duck in Melbourne, the brand is from China ( I love this brand in China and it is really popular ). Been here with my family, they had function room and the special chair. The seafood is really fresh, and the price is not that high! Will keep back to this place!
Quanjude originates from China where the Peking duck chain has over 50 restaurants, Melbourne was the company’s first branch outside of Asia with Sydney second to follow. The venue itself is quite opulent compared to the standard Chinatown paper table cloth restaurant. Quanjude boasts high ceilings, chandeliers, golden chairs and red drapes. I was hesitant to try after reading some poor reviews but my plan B wasn’t open so decided to give it a try. We were greeted by the host and led downstairs to our table. It’s a large restaurant but the main area was quite full for a Monday night with atleast three bigger tables being occupied. I ordered the whole Peking duck set and the boyfriend wanted a crab claw (deep fried entree). We didn’t wait very long for the food but it was a little longer than I am used to considering the duck is already cooked and the sides are normally ready to go as well however I will take into consideration there were big groups and food was constantly coming out for them before ours was served. The crab claw was nice and filled with other ingredients however not worth the $13 in our opinion. Then the duck arrived. The duck carver begins by carving the most crispy skin off the duck from the neck and back and this is served with sugar and salt. Then he proceeds to slice the meat and ensures it is well presented. You can hear the crispy skin being sliced as he works his way around the duck. The duck itself is very soft and the skin is crisp. The pancakes are thin and moist and very even from centre to the edges. The sauce was sweet and smooth. The set also comes with soup which was very bland. Definitely one of the better Peking ducks I’ve tried in Melbourne. I’d compare it to the Michelin Star Peking duck at imperial treasure in Singapore. I can’t fault the service, they were accommodating and attentive. Will definitely be back for more Peking duck.
Food 4/5
Service 5/5
Environment 4/5
A traditional Peking duck which you can wrap by yourself after the chef slice the duck in the front of you. They provide enough cucumber and spring onion, which the best partner for the Peking duck with traditional sauce. The service is perfect, make you feel comfortable. The other dishes al become the western taste. Just average.
Haven’t been to the place but do a take away. The duck is good, and the lotus bread is tender as well. I think it is the authentic flavor compared to the peikin duck in China.
Went here for dinner, food was amazing as was the service, definitely worth a try. We were very impressed with the delicacy of the juicy white meat & as they are far larger than the regular Peking ducks
Good food good company best tasting parking duck in the cbd. Other food was alright also and the staff members were friendly. Will be back soon
Came here recently and was quite impressed with their dishes! The duck indeed was small when you see the whole duck but had loads of meat. Food was quite tasty and will definitely be back. I am surprised the restaurant wasn’t full!
Peking duck with style. Super crispy and tasty with wafer thin spring onions. Very grand setting, high ceilings and table cloth coupled with great service. Concise selection of reds and great mains (especially the king prawns and the eggplant).
Best peking duck I’ve had! Chef carves the duck at your table when it’s not too busy.
Get the salt and pepper duck frame instead of the soup!
Also tried the Special Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Deep Fried Pork Ribs and they were great too!
Such a gorgeous dining area, staff are very polite and helpful too. Can be busy on weekends so booking recommended.

Been here a few times now and absolutely love it! Plus my picky Chinese friends said it's one of the most authentic, long standing name for Peking Duck. Legit! The duck frame then being roasted with salt pepper, super tasty and creative for a 'by product'. The seafood soup (with abalone, sea cucumber...) is my go to every time. If you love broth based you gotta try it. It is so so good. Also enjoy the lamb, snake beans very much.
Last, very important, i thought it would be way more expensive for the location and interior but the price is reasonable. You could have walked in any other cheap looking restaurant and spent nearly the same. (about 60-80pp + drink, amount of food is generous)
Hard to find any faults on the night we dined here. Quanjude is know for its Peking Duck, and I’ve had a lot of good ones - happy to add this restaurant to that list! They prepare it 3 ways - crispy skin on its own with salt, Peking duck pancakes, then the bones in either a soup or a dry salt rub. We also had the tofu seafood hotpot (lots of abalone, scallops and mussels), and the incredible ‘squirrel fish’ type dish, of a whole coral trout with sweet vinegar sauce. Ambience and service was fantastic too. One negative was the alcohol - a G&T barely had any gin in it, and a mojito was… interesting. Stick with the teas, beers and wines perhaps
It has been 5 years since I first time came here. A traditional Chinese Beijing Cuisine restaurant. Unfortunately they already changed their menu.
Peking duck is good, especially the sauce, very nice, but it is not fresh baked, this kept in a warm container, so the taste is just so so, but I do not want to ask too much, this state still could be one of the top in Australia.
This cabbage 🥬 really normal, the taste of cabbage is just the taste of cabbage, not the taste mixed with the stock. I am a bit disappointed ☹️ .
I give 4 stars for this traditional restaurant still in open and good service. I hope Quanjude could be better taste in the future.
Nice open environment with traditional Chinese setting, however ambience was a bit awkward due to quiet service. Food was good and the pancakes for the Peking duck was delicious. Only improvement can be made was on service as it was pretty much a one man show. The waiter was very lovely and accommodating, however he was overwhelmed with serving about 8 customers all on his own. It was difficult to get his attention at times, but he was all on his own. Perhaps they have issues with staffing. Would have given 5 stars if service wasn't an issue.
Succulent Peking duck! Really enjoyed the flavour. Customer service was great too.
I think this restaurant is way underrated. The pekking ducks are very tasty (probably one of the best peeking duck restaurants I have been to in Melbourne), their Supreme golden soup is delicious. Great services. Staff are very kind and helpful. Nice atmosphere, nice decoration. Price is not much higher than other pekking ducks in other suburbs (actually quite reasonably with the quality). Although I enjoyed the quietness while eating with my family, I think they deserve better rating and should have higher recognition.
