We have been going to this place for over 8 years now.. all the staff is extremely friendly particularly Chi! He is the best of all. The food is just made to perfection and personalised. Our experience has always been pleasant!!
Natasha M
Staff is fantastic and friendly. Ambience is cosy and comfortable on a rainy day. The food lacked a bit of punch. Yoi needed sauce with the fried rice and chillies with the pho for sure.

Had a pleasant experience eating here. Upon arrival I was greeted with such great hospitality. The food was incredible and well seasoned. My partner loved the Nasi Goreng.
I look forward to my next visit ☺

Nice authentic Noddles here
The seafood Noddles is favourite.
Service is good Staff courteous.
Mixed of Hong Kong Malaysian style cooking
The Goat
Order the chef’s special Snapper with rice & eggplants, not too bad was delicious, customer service great, was a bit pricey being inside crown casino.
Freddie Jazmin
This is my first time in this restaurant and the barramundi is absolutely delicious. The pork cutlet is not delicious at all. The Sho noodles and sweet and sour pork is pricey and did not lived up with my expectation. The food did not arrived at the same time. Overall, the service is standard and the food is pricey.
Sandy K
Food is good but don’t expect standard service. There were at least 4 staff front of house, no queue but still had to wait to be seated. When food were delivered, no emotion or acknowledgement when the guest said “thank you”. Asked for water and the front of house staff said “I’ve put through an order for you, hopefully someone at the back will come out soon”, as a customer I don’t need to know this, just get the order done seamlessly. Very poor customer service, definitely need to re-train or re-educate service values.
Fiona Christou
Terrible. Duck all bones and pork dry with no flavour. Waste of money.

My favorite Chinese restaurant inside crown casino

We came here for the mid autumn dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The course started off with siu mai, pork dumpling, and spring roll which were good. The seafood and corn soup was light and healthy. The lobster noodles was delicious. The fried whole barramundi came with sweet and sour sauce did not taste as fresh. The spinach with goji berry was good. We loved the flufffy Portuguese tart and the egg yolk bun which were a good way to end the course.
$15 for healthy meal. Salmon still have scales and not tasty.

The best thing about this place was. They were open till late. After a few drinks a nice chinese meal was needed. With not a lot of options this place was kind enough to let us in given they were almost closed. Well priced but quite average for crown.
JKGasMan
Had the lunch special here. Whole fried baby barramundi with rice. Tasted pretty good with the sweet and sour sauce. Also came with a drink (beer, wine or soft drink) and 4 hours complimentary parking. Service was bad though which brought m the ratings down.
M3lissa____
Visited Sho Noodle for their taste of food menu. It consists of a main, a drink (which includes wine, beer or soft drinks) and a complimentary 4 hour parking and all of the above for $15. Had the steam red snapper fillet on rice and the fish was cooked really well and the sauce was just right.
Brunny Girl
Not my usual choice but I was with a friend who assured me that the Peking Duck was good.We had the Duck and glass of Pinot Noir each. The T'Gallant Pinot was pretty bland and light. The Peking Duck was good. we were served with juicy slices although the skin was not crispy. For $41 as an entree for 2 I thought that it was fairly overpriced but possible a standard price for that location. Service was quick and friendly.

Just got a free voucher from crown casino.so we went there for a quick meal, but the service is not good ,we order the twice time for hot water ,but is still coming for tap water ❗

Won a $100 food voucher at Crown by playing the pokies, so I thought my wife and I shall give "SHO" dining an experience. SHO is one of the premium dinning of Crown Casino.

1. Very expensive 1 / 10
2. Food quality was 1 / 10
3. Value for money 1 / 10

A dish of stir fry seafood with veggies $42. Consists 3 scallops, 4 prawns and the plate was size of small pizza.
Beef Hor fun was so plain and boring , lack of seasoning, "wok action" flavour

KUNG PAO chicken with noodles was similar to food court vermicelli stir fry, even my 15yr nephew can do better wok action then these "SHO" chefs !

DAN DAN noodles. Don't go there !!!

The only dish was outstanding was the " BBQ platter, few pieces of BBQ duck, roast, soy chicken and crispy skin pork for $29 and a steam rice.

Would I go back there ? I don't think so !!!
Would I recommend SHO to my friends ? Definitely not !

I would rather do "BUFFET" for dinner at the WORKSHOP in Crown Casino instead. $30 pp.
Or Chinese at Box Hill, The Glen or in Springvale !!!
billyjean111,

Like many restaurants in Crown, Sho is not a worthwhile place to eat. I’ve been here a few times only because I get free meals from the casino. The food is mediocre at best; the rice and meat dishes are simple and not very tasty, while the servings are relatively small. The noodles here are definitely the better option to choose from as it’s hard to go wrong with fried noodles. However, the main reason to avoid this place is due to the dear prices. For the same price, I could get much more value at other Chinese restaurants.

While the atmosphere is quite nice, the same can’t be said about the service. I would recommend giving this place a miss.

Good food and good service- rare combination in an Asian restaurant that’s busy. We ordered chili wontons, barramundi, pork belly and lobster noodles. Our favorite the barramundi and the wontons!! These both were fantastic.

Wouldn’t mind returning back!

We had dinner tonight with my girlfriend and few friends. The restaurant was full . We had to wait around 20 min to be sited. However the service was perfect . We ordered barramundi cooked in sweet chilli sauce which was absolutely delicious !! We also had Siu mai , fried rice , Pekín duck . All the dishes were perfectly cooked ! I’ll be back !

It's not a noodle bar but they do a very traditional Cantonese cusine. But nevertheless the food quality is very good. I love dining here and staff is very kind
Eating Away Melbourne
Just wanted a quick dinner at Crown and saw this noodle bar literally in the casino. Ordered Prawn dumplings, kungpao prawn, wonton noodle soup and a barramundi special. Everything with prawn was lovely. The barramundi was cooked in some special sauce (beans?) it had a weird taste. Service was hit and miss. Some of the wait staff were really lovely, some not so much. Overall a good experience.
Miss T.A
Crowded but didn’t wait long to be seated on a Sat night. Chicken cooked well. Excellent south eastern asian flavours. Fast service. Oriental decor inside.
Loan Leane
I should’ve just swiped left when I read the terrible reviews. But I thought they couldn’t be as bad as people made them out to be... How wrong I was and how right the reviews were. Service was non existent, the food was very bland. I can compromise with the average service if the food is amazing but this place lacked everything. The lineup is long and no apologies made for the wait. They did not promote their promotional menu that is advertised through crown! This was the only reason I even considered visiting. I highly recommend you steer clear and go elsewhere. This place will ruin your lovely day/evening out
Michael Wisz
Average food with some of the worst restaurant and customer service we've experienced. No advertisement of the $15 specials that the Crown had included as part of the 'taste the season' menu. A poor experience
Patrick
If you are looking for poor quality food combined with the worst service, this is the place to come to. This restaurant needs to learn how to run a business. We entered the restaurant and it took us almost 10mins to get seated despite the restaurant being half empty! When the rude waitress finally gestured us to sit at a table apparently the table was reserved for someone else. Things went from bad to worse when the food arrived. I ordered the fried chicken with thai paw paw salad off their $15 special menu which they did not even advertise. The chicken was not fried properly: the outside was not crispy, the inside was dry and the whole dish was drenched in sweet chilli sauce which was not pleasant at all to eat.
Vincent Lai
Slow and terrible service. We were waiting to be seated but no staff member approached us until a line had formed out the door. With 5 floor staff, 4 of them were standing around talking. When we were seated we were then told we couldnt sit at that table and told to wait again. We ended up sitting at a table for 3 ( 4 people) and even then they were gesturing and looking at us as though we were sitting in the wrong area. I expect below par service from a small family owned restaurant in the suburbs. Not from one inside the casino floor.
Angel Khong
Delicious Chinese meals at good prices; tried their roast duck and pork buns and while they were not the most authentic, they were still pretty delicious. Great classy-ish ambiance as well. Overall very happy with the value.

This is by far the worst experience I have had at Crown Casino. I'm a frequent visitor and have dined and gambled at Crown on multiple occasions. What I experienced at Sho today was appalling. It is my mother's birthday today and I decided to take her to Crown to test her luck, after playing for an hour or so we went to dine at Sho at approximately 1:30pm today, the restaurant was close to empty yet we were ignored by a number of the staff when we waited at the door. The manager clearly saw us and decided to turn the other way. I watched her for long enough for her to clearly sense the awkwardness until she finally decided to whisper to one of the waitresses to seat us. The manager kept on giving us weird looks once we were seated and to make it worse she was whispering to the other waitress while staring at us, it made my mother and I both really uncomfortable. While we were eating my mother asked the manager for a second cup of hot water and the manager was clearly displeased with this request and snatched the cup away from her, what made it worse was that when she brought it back she slammed it onto the table and completely disregarded that she had got some hot water on my mother in the process. She was in such a rush to get away from us that I wasn't even able to point this out to her before she decided to turn around and walk away. While we experienced this kind of service from her we witnessed two well dressed, white customers that walked in who experienced a completely different type of service. Big smile on the face, showing them their tables, constantly checking up on them and chatting with them. A number of other Asian customers experienced the same as us. I can tolerate bad service as some of the time as it may not be the waitress's fault if they are run off their feet, but to pick and choose which customers to be nice to is completely absurd, especially when it is based on race. This is no longer a matter of terrible service, but a matter of discrimination.
Steven Gu
Sho noodle bar in Crown. Nice food and good environment. Service is not so good and just only to deliver the dishes and no further service. Like the noodle and BBQ combinations
~Happy Neko~
Descent price and good quality, good for simple night out :) highly recommend the durian fire balls n macha ice cream :) the best durian dessert i've ever taste :)

Their ambience is good, love sitting there from a distance watching the chef cooking with their skilled cooking with the wok. Roast pork is nice and crunchy, will try lobster noodle with ginger and spring onion sauce next time. I saw many people order that, and very tempting, but was feeling too full to eat that. Staff service are okay.
Foodie In Paradise
Located inside the crown casino, it was a great place to grab a quick lunch. The Peking duck rice was quite tasty. The BBQ pork rice taste alright but the Assam fish doesn't have much Assam favour in it. Service was quick and efficient.
ToFeedTwo
Classy yet casual, popping into Sho Noodle Bar late at night after the footy was a real treat. The food is quality and full of flavour, and not overly complicated. A perfect option for those wanting a quality Chinese meal without resorting to the food courts... also a nice quiet spot to chat in amongst the busy casino!

For entree we had the Barbecued Buns with Pork - delicious & warm. I couldn't fault my main - Kung Pao Chicken - it was bursting with flavour and just the right amount of chilli. The peanuts within the dish made it extra special. The Crispy Pork Belly with egg noodle soup was ideal for a cold night! The broth was flavored just as intended and let's be real, who thought pork belly would taste so good in soup?

Quality experience, quality food. Yum yum!
David Liao
Nice presentation but still prefer proper Chinese in Richmond or China town. Too fancy. Roast pork was dry and cold will not come again.

Details: FANTASTIC!! The only thing I could complain about would be the wait time but what do you expect from Crown Casino on a Saturday night. I had to go to work straight after my meal and was worried the food would take ages... the staff made sure our food came out straight away!

Recommend: The duck with pancakes (YUM), steamed prawn dumplings and chicken cashews with chilli.

Service: very welcoming and fast! Like I said, they truly looked after us ! :)

Will be back to try more!!

Not a bad option for a simple Chinese meal if you are inside the crown casino complex and trying to avoid the crowd in the food court. The food quality was average but the inside was comfortable and the service was nice and efficient. My girlfriend actually loved the mango pudding here~
Jennifer Lay
For a place inside crown I thought the service might be a little bit shitty.
The staff seat you, then come back within minutes to take drinks and food order.
Meals didn't take long to arrive.
I had the tom yum soup with rice vermicelli noodles and seafood. They also added free veggies and mushrooms for me.
There was a mistake to my order which they added chicken. I was not charged for it so was happy to just pick it out.
I use to love the tom yum here years ago but it's definetly changed now, not as good as it use to be, it's a bit more watered down, they were generous with seafood which included muscles, prawns, fish balls, squid, fish cake.

My partner had the Nasi Goreng. The rice was nice however the chicken skewers weren't nice. Not sure which cut of chicken they used.

Came here again because I was craving the tom yum and also had entrainment book voucher.

The other dishes looked nice on the other tables so may be back!

Food was Average and needs a bit more attention. Service/Customer Service were horrendous and needs to be improved on. Will not be coming back.
Sylvia's POV
Sho Noodle Bar has significantly shrunken in size, giving away half of the seating area for more gaming tables. If you wish to dine here on a busy night like Saturday, you must really have patience and dare to join the never-ending line.
We were about to leave after a 40 minute wait when we were finally called to be seated.
The food was a tad cold once it was served as the completed dishes are left on the bench for quite some time before they are served.
We ordered 1x Roasted Duck on Rice, 1x Vegetarian fried rice, 1x Vegetable spring rolls, and 1x Cantonese fried noodles with BBQ pork.
The food was decent and filling. The prices are quite high. So, your best bet is come come Monday-Friday for the special menu to save a few bucks.
Okay so this post is a little bit measley because we only came here for dessert. Since I have come here a few times before (but never thought to take pictures) I can still give you a brief 101 on the food except without the pics. In terms of savoury food the food is quite decent and just a little bit above average (along with the price). The top picks we usually have is Singapore noodles and these jumbo prawns in a tangy sticky soy sauce.
Andrew Kelly
Wheres the service!? These guys have no idea what they are doing with no attention being made to their customers. We went in a quiet period and they only had a few tables of people. No one bothers to greet you on entering or showing you a seat, we awkwardly sat ourselves down after waiting a long time even though the wait staff saw we were waiting at the front. We constantly had to wave and call out for service to order, to get cutlery, to get a drink. This was not isolated as many others around us were also becoming angrily frustrated. Many groups wanted to come dine but left in disgust because no one would greet them. The food when it did arrive was ok but nothing outstanding and given the high price tag it was underwhelming.
Hello World!
Sho noodle bar is located within the gaming floor of the casino. The food that we ordered was quiet good, however the price was more expensive than normal Chinese restaurant for more than 8-10 dollars each. It used to be around 12-15 per dish 4 years ago, but the pricing has been increased dramatically in last few years along with the expansion and renovation of casino.

Weekday special was amazing. Very clean, service was quick. I enjoyed my time there so much I went twice on the same day. Only downside being that it was so close to the slot machines but all in all I loved it.
Justin Wong
Had the lunch special. Fried whole barramundi was pretty okay. Was filling and definitely bang for your buck it's tasty but nth fantastic in my opinion. Great for a quick bite I guess?

Surprisingly great quality Cantonese Chinese cuisine located inside Crown casino. Weekday special $12.95 or $19.95 to upgrade to a whole
Barramundi.. Generous, valuable and delicious food.
Krishna Brannigan
Most other places were full, but not Sho. It's quick and staff are polite, the food is value for money. We had a meal for $12.95 each that included rice a main meal and a glass of either red, white, beer or sparkling. If you want food fast and aren't looking to spend hours with friends in a restaurant this is right for you.
Jeff
Sho noodle bar? More like NO noodle bar!

Food was okay, but didn't really like the casino atmosphere and the front row seats for watching Asians on the poker machines. Lack of signage also made it very hard to find, and when we did we thought it was a brothel- too many red LEDs

Delicious duck & rockling. Order the peking duck or the rockling with vegetables, both were delicious. Staff were not so helpful or attentive, lots of staff working but not much quality service.
Gus' Gastro Review
My boss loves this joint... so when I'm working in Melbourne, guess where I eat at least 3 times a year... fosho, you guess it. I'll keep it brief, nothing that great about it. Although, if you're hungry, you're pretty much guaranteed a table and food within 10-15 minutes from order. That's enough to down at least one beer, in time for entree and ordering another beer.
Shark fin soup? I tried it out of interest but forget it, tasteless junk. Stick with fish that should be caught. So service is good, but like every where in South Bank (I sound like a broken record here) it's expensive for what you're getting.
On the whole, it's not 'bad' but they're all about getting you in, fed, drunk and out. It's a noisy factory, not a dining experience. Although it is a casino.....

This was another lunch special, stir fried beef strips with edamame beans in honey black pepper sauce served with steamed rice for $13, it was a very small portion but was full of flavour and tasted great. I was seated in front of the kitchen and could watch the chefs prepare my meal.
HJ
The look and feel of this place is really nice for Asian cuisine. However we all found the food to be a bit overpriced for what it is. I ordered the barbecue roast platter which offered a bit of everything. This dish was nice but was very average. The service very minimal and not very attentive. There is a lot of potential for this place if they can up there standards
Melbourne Epicurean Juror
A friend and I had a light lunch at Sho today & I chose the Crispy Pork Belly at $13.50 & my friend ordered the Roasted Duck with plum sauce for $19.50. I loved the Crispy Pork Belly & accompanying flavoursome sauce, the crackle was excellent, cooked to perfection in my opinion. My friend's choice however contained about a quarter content of bone - not ideal, although he commented the duck itself was nice. Both our meals were served within 10 minutes of ordering with restaurant being reasonably quiet at just after noon. We found the staff's service provision both friendly and efficient. I found the décor pleasing to the eye & the background music quiet enough to talk over.

The Juror's Verdict: Food 4.5/5, Service Provision 5/5, Will I return: Yes, overall I was impressed - my friend, not so.

Phill Jury (food critic & writer)

2 words: raw chicken. Went to this restaurant on a Monday for lunch. There was no one in there however they took 5 minutes to seat us. We ordered our drinks and food together however the drinks came a couple of minutes before the food. The Nasi goreng came with 2 skewers- 1 beef and 1 chicken. Bit into the chicken one and it was raw. No apologies at all from waitresses and chef and still had to pay for the whole meal. Plus they overcharged us $33 for one glass of the house champagne. Not going back.

Disappointing. Service , food both not upto standards.

Good place for a quick bite if you find yourself on the gaming floor at Crown. Food is a bit overpriced but decent enough to eat.

I would describe Sho Noodle Bar as nothing special however the food quite okay .. well .. at least the dishes we devoured!
The Cooking Capers
I was amazed by how crisp everything looked, until I finally realised that they were all plastic vegetables! The potatoes were really the give away, I was quite amused that it took me so long to figure out!

We had a dinner at Sho after a full day's wine tasting so the odds weren't great that we'd remember or enjoy it! However I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. There were three of us and we shared some spring rolls to start and they were pretty good. Crispy and golden with a nice pork filling and the lettuce was provided to wrap them up in as well as some sweet chilli sauce. Having said that, I'm one of those people that think most things taste good with sweet chilli sauce! Main course wise, Steve had fried ho fun with beef and beanspouts, Suzi created her own noodle soup with vermicelli and tom yum soup, chicken slices, soya egg and pork and prawn dumplings. I did the same but had udon noodles in a Vietnamese chicken soup with the pork and prawn dumplings, soya egg and soya chicken. Portion size was pretty decent. I expected one egg cut into half but actually we got two eggs each; almose egg overload! I was also surprised at the price. The three of us ate for less than what we paid a
Gin
The soup was spicy and tasty, I really like it. Mr Tan also liked the soup and commented that it tasted like a mixture of laksa and curry. His Hainanese Chicken Rice was also good, flavourful and not oily, the portion of the chicken was too small and the chicken was a little dry. The mango pudding and ice cream was a nice way to end the meal,

Duck is super....

Good Customer Service. Ordered the laksa, roasted duck with rice and soup and the Barramundi for dinner tonight when I visited with my parents, the food was amazing, especially the Barramundi, the sweet and sour sauce was definitely a delight. Customer service was also great, despite how everyone seemed to be in a rush the young waitress that served us was particularly nice and friendly (special mention to her amazing language skills for explaining the menu to us in Mandarin, Cantonese and English). Will definitely return the next time I'm at Crown.
Mommyinmelbourne
Below Average!. Went there for a mid week dinner with kind of high expectations but quiet the downer. Noodle soups are average in taste but generous in quantity. The chef special section is rather below average preparations. However the mango ice cream and pudding is probably the most amazing dessert I ate in a longest time.
Stealth Fighter
Table was not cleaned properly; plate has got fingerprints; ordered meals with drink but drink came late after we finished everything but dessert. Remember to ask for your drink if it has not come when your food arrives. Poor customer service, one unfriendly staff member (the others are fine). Standard food.
Kym Ip
This has to be the worse noodle bar in Melbourne. The food is average at best and the service, what service. A disgrace for crown.
Hungermonster
Gone down the sh*thole. Been coming here for years. started great, went down in quality but was still okay, visited recently and it was the shittiest food - they forgot to serve our dumplings so they'd been overcooked and they brought it out anyway, had to wait for ages for the rest of our meal to come out and zero value for money. there won't be a next time for us.
S_t_p1967
$19.90 3 course special. Between 2 of us we had the chicken soup and cold chicken to start and the service was poor - should have been an indication of the rest of the way things were to follow as our mains were dumped in the middle of the table with our entrees and when asked for forks and knives - it seemed an effort to have it brought to us and an even bigger ordeal to give us a bottle of water with some ice in 2 glasses. the fish was nice. the dishes cleared away and 20 minutes later no sign of desert so we asked for our mango pudding which was great tasting but not a place we will be returning to as we had to ask for the desert spoons and both were lumped at the side of 1 person - so much for nice table staff as if we were difficult customers maybe i could understand the reluctance to be served properly but the wait staff need retraining or more pleasant staff need to be hired as we went in there expecting a nice time out for dinner and left feeling glad the ordeal was over - very disappointed with the Sho Noodle Bar tonight the 27th November 2013 - Simone Thiedeman-Pereira

Located within the casino complex this restaurant offers some great early week meal specials through to the usual comprehensive menu offerings. We settled for a quick lunch special of Barrumundi and rice for 9.90. The meal arrived and we were presently surprised at the portion size, more than enough for a lunch sitting and enjoyable to eat. The biggest criticism here is with the staff, they are generally unfriendly and not attentive (to the point that you feel they are avoiding any form of eye contact) as experienced by three tables near us that were really exasperated.
Kay Zthrough
Very very disappointed. average menu, but with the price and location I was expected better Service. Staff was very unattentive, rude and slow. Even the floor manager was just terrible at customer service, I could find way better services in China Town with less to spend. food was just not authentic..it was not worth my money and being treat like I ask them for free food. No return to Sho restaurant and will not recommend to friends and customers.
Roy Boy
Loved the food. I have been here an handful of times and every time i wasn't disappointing. Sitting at the bar watching them cook is half the fun. Would recommend to everyone.

Very unfriendly and unprofessional service, even from the service managers.

Waited for 45 minutes, and manager turns away with a mild insincere "OK OK" before we could finish asking about the our food order; and then to be told that one of the dishes has sold out!

Impolite table serving, utensils thrown around the table.

Definitely not going back again, don't think we are welcome here anyway.

Kung Pao chicken. Reasonably priced, quick, Nice selection of teas.
Not many other Chinese restaurants seem to serve the above mentioned dish (which often featured in Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Tried the dried noodle with bbq pork and my friend ordered rice with pork and egg the other day and the taste was worse than the other cheaper vietnamese restaurants. The meat is too salty for the noodle to buffer. The pork on rice was a bit dry and hard to chew. The good thing about this place is there were not many people during lunch time so no queuing time at all.
Melvin Tang
I pay a premium price for what I eat here yet the service is sub par and I am better off at the Self serve food court in crown. I order a roast duck noodle soup, receiving only 5 pieces of duck for $16 and 3 out of the 5 pieces are bone with skin. Not to mention the vast amounys of duck fat. Are you trying to give me a Cardiac Arrest? pick up your service and hire more capable staff members, increase your portions or lower the price. Will not be returning here ever again.
Kwang Wan
Average dishes overpriced. The type of dishes you can get any restaurants in Box Hill, Kingsway but at about twice the price. Won't mind if they were twice as good but found them to be salty. Servie also mange forgot two desserts ordered and had to be reminded.

Yum.. Gung pao (KUNG POW) best chicken and rice dish with a serious pow hit of chilli. 10/10 guys always lovely service.

Very bad service. Had lunch with my wife and didn't expect the service could be this bad as the restaurant is operate cy Crown Casino. The f&b attendant can't even speak english properly and the food was taking more than 40 minutes to be serve enough for a quick lunch. what is it so hard to make chinese bbq on rice dish. The food not even good and too expensive if i knew it would be this bad i should end up in the food court instead.

Sho Noodle Bar / So No Go Again. I will never attend this so labelled " fine dining" restaurant.
1. the service was slow and poor
2. the waitress had poor english speaking skills, could not understand a word she said
3. Had my meal served 20 minutes after my partners meal was served
4. Upon asking where my meal is, the waitress arrives back from the kitchen with a lame excuse that chinese meals are very hard to cook and co ordinate in the kitchen??
5. The Cashier had poor english speaking skills and accused me of wanting to apply my " entertainment book" discount of 25 % off the total bill TWICE
ChrisM84
Very disappointing experience at Sho tonight. Food was very below average and service uninterested. Ordered the prawn spring rolls but soggy pork spring rolls arrived instead. Calamari with 5 spice was heavily battered and missing any trace of the promised 5 spice. Hor Fun (Rice Noodles) with Beef and Bean Sprouts was so dry it bordered on inedible. My main meal was served and was nearly finished whilst still waiting for my husbands meal. Person at table next to us spilt a drink, the waiter looked directly at it and just turned and wandered in the opposite direction. Had to wait nearly 30 minutes for bill despite asking twice. $90 for two of us!!! Definitely save your money, better food available in the food court.

Eating on the Floor. Maybe we have the wrong expectations when visiting Crown. I always expect to walk out with more money in my pocket than when I started, and I often do, but that's only because the ATM has been good to me. I can usually rely on the parking prices to be much like unwelcome prison romance and that one never fails. And the restaurants outside the gaming floor are going to be good. The ones on the inside are a different story...
It's a remarkable thing that we have so many Asian restaurants in Melbourne, and such a strong market for dumplings and noodles. Our national cuisine is "everyone else's mixed together, plus pumpkin soup". What's even more amazing is that a Crown restaurant manages to slip beneath the quality bar that Chinatown laneway restaurants hurdle.
I'm sure management wants Sho to be like HuTong, but it has ended up more like China Bar, complete with the less-than-brilliant staff and so-so customer base. The food is adequate, but less than exciting. I think it's natural to expect it to be fascinating and challenging, but it's more along the lines of familiar and unstimulating. Dumplings, Chinese Broccoli and Noodles are not only on the menu at most Chinese restaurants around town, they're served in exactly the same way. The wine list is straight from the pages of an on-premise catalogue, and pricey for what it delivers.
One thing that is fantastic about this place, though, is the decor. It has an amazing flair, that, even if a little too clichéd, certainly creates a wonderful atmosphere. Of course the view of the optimistic arrivals and distraught departures, backed by neon glow and shimmering lights, isn't quite as glamorous as The Bund at sunset.
I wouldn't return to Sho, unless I was promised a complete overhaul in operation. But, then again, I don't think dining on the gaming floor is ever going to be spectacular. We should be thankful for, and take advantage of so many better options away from the one-armed bandits.

Bad food over priced. Saltiest soup ever tasted, sparse content to the soup and $7 for green tea and undifferentiated dumplings that were supposed to be some sampling variety....
One of the worst meals we've ever had and almost $40 for two soups, one tea and one appetizer.
Go to McDonalds around the corner, better value, much better food.

Awful new management and styl. Used to be a big fan of this restaurant before but I would say forever goodbye to it now. Be a regular customer here so I know most of the staff and have tried different dishes. They tasted very good. However, I guess after changing to new management or new styles, food and services are no longer worth my money.
First, new staff are providing awful services. They speak broken English in hard-to-understand accent. I was asked like:" what you want?" way instead of "are you ready to order?". Sounds very impolite to me. I was wondering how come a big organization like Crown could employ such under-standard staff? Also, it is strange to see very few regular staff with good customer services are still working here. They used to gently ask me about services that they re providing, about hows food, what do I need etc
Second, food menu was changed completely. The dishes I love have all gone, replaced by many spicy food. I was very disappointed to see my lobster noodle witthout thin egg noodle as usual but with thick white noodle (like udon noodle in Japanese). It totally turned the whole dish disaster and bad taste. Not to mention, the menu looks very messy and unorganized, very unprofessional. A good menu usually categories Into different types of food like Crab, Chicken, vegies, tofu etc so customers like me can easily find and choose.

All in all, I would never come back to this restaurant. New management and food styles are lowering Sho restaurant's standard

Finally somewhere beautiful to eat at crown which doesn't cost a fortune! Satay skewers for entree were amazing! Both had the noodle soup which was amazing- love the idea of picking your noodles, meat and broth. Staff were very helpful in making suggestions. Great drinks too- coconut drink was awesome as was the sparkling tea drink. Will definitely be returning considering the price and quality.

Calm amidst the Chaos. Nestled on the gaming floor of the crown this modern asian cafe offers your usual asian staples at a reasonable cost relatively fast. The wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They happily explained all the different kinds of noodles on offer and what they go best with. The Peking Duck dinner for 2 is great value and the duck was succulent and crisp skinned. The noodles were def slurp worthy and the coconut icecream was smooth and authentic. Some dishes have been westernised but still taste great. Sho offers some weekday lunch time specials so whether you're in for a quick lunch or a lingering dinner, Sho is the way to GO. As its on the main gaming floor, its 18+ only. Grab a nice pot of jasmine tea and sit back and watch the madness outside.

Shame on You. For a chinese restaurant located within the casino, you'd expect decent food.

- Service was unattentive and poor
- Food was bland, unappetizing and definitely not worth the price.

When we went to pay up, they couldn't even find the bill associated to the table number. Need I say more?

Service was slow...waited thirty minutes for food to arrive even when theyre not busy... Serving is not sufficient for a meal worth $21...mostly vegetables typical asian trick...very little meat with dish.... Honestly, try Lafsa king or Hutong for value before going to Crown..

Sho Dissapointing. The venue was nicely furnished and staff were friendly and efficient. However, the food was terrible. The issue is that you have dishes from all around Asia - a jack of all trades is a king of none. When you try to incorporate Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean & Vietnamese cuisine into one menu you're left with a basic water & MSG broth, generic pieces of tasteless meat and lifeless noodles. It's worth noting that the noodles are all bought in as well. It's food court styled food in a nice environment - with the additional prices attached.

Quality and Service are on the way down, and prices on the way up.. The setup with the open kitchen is nice and sitting at the bar watching is fun, but recent menu changes and upsize in price will make me true somewhere else in the future.

Not as bad as i thought. When the weather is bad and its not wise to leave crown, sho is a decent place to eat. typical chinese food that's easy to eat and not costing you an arm and a leg. atmosphere isn't for everyone but if you face inwards then you can shut off all the pokies.
Tubbymistress
No.. For those who like their noodles with a side serve of pokies. Despite Sho's best efforts to dress up this place, the atmosphere was worse than I expected.

If you're coming specifically for the food (and prefer not to be surrounded by bright louds and/or rowdy folk), don't bother.

Late night option!. Great late night dining at Crown, noodle soups are really good as are the malaysian curries etc. Give it a try after a big night out, open till 3 am on weekends.

The Crown casino complex has some great restaurants so I was happy to find out about their new hand made noodle bar Sho. A typical volcano wok enclave provides the central focal point, with comfortable seating around the bar itself or nearby tables. I'm guilty of ordering a noodle soup on both occasions I've eaten here. First warning: Large means LARGE, a large pot the size of a wine cooler, which I thought was a serving dish for some elaborate table service, turned out to be my own bowl. The soup is good. The broth is fantastic, crispy belly pork turned out to be exactly that, really tastey, maybe a touch salty but truely satisfying. Second warning: Those hoots bolas and flashing lights have nothing to do with your witty repoirte, but everything to with the winning and losing of millions mere meters from your table. Worth noting is the extensive tea list. Accept your on a gaming floor, accept the hustle and bustle, and you will enjoy a great meal at a reasonable price. Recommend the Chao Tsu noodle soup with a pot of Jade Emperor. 7/10

Vaccies Lunch Series I Sho is great. The place is situated near the Baccarat tables inside the Casino and offers a fantastic range of cheap dishes to keep the gamblers happy. It's rather nicely decorated for a place that offers dishes for less than $15. The tables are polished, the seats are comfortable, and the décor looks like it cost money. For low prices, it's certainly not a cheap looking place. It so happens that it is also a rather short walk from the office and it was chosen for our inaugural lunch

You can see this restaurant has been designed with particular emphasis on a sleek and classy ambience, the kitchen is fully on show and enclosed by the bar seats. Reminds me of the decor/setup of L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Paris. With this association,
I Ate My Way Through
While many are drawn to the Crown Complex at Melbourne for its gaming floor, I kept coming back for the food. It was New Years Eve 2008 and amidst the loud crowd building up outside, Sho Noodle Bar was busy serving up plates of traditional Chinese cuisine
