What an absolute delight! Service was fantastic - attentive, friendly and charming. Lovely decor, very intimate feel but not cramped. Peter (the owner) trained at Le Cordon Bleu and explained he is trying to create universal appeal in his food. There truly is something for everyone. You feel the love and care he puts into his food, and he uses fresh produce.

You only need to look at the photos to get an idea of how delicious the food is. We ordered cream of zucchini soup, main sized potato and cheese pierogi, meat pierogi, white sausage and the lemon baked cheesecake.

Peter makes the cheese himself and the pierogi was succulent and flavourful. The meat pierogi is mouthwateringly tasty. The pierogi come with accompaniments and delicious condiments - home made slaw and caramelised onion condiment with bacon.
The sausage was so juicy and flavoursome, while the potatoes were cooked to perfection.
The lemon cheesecake was heaven. So well-balanced.

What a wonderful experience. Peter and his staff are so welcoming and generous - I would highly recommend Tipsy Village to anyone.

Exceptional service and hospitality. Authentic and delicious cuisine, and delicious Polish beers. And all at a modest price. Definitely worth a visit.

For us, the 3rd wave coffee + hipster cafe scene is getting quite tiresome and boring now. Everywhere we go, it's the same old. Brunch is now quite homogenous.

Our experience at Tipsy Village just broke the Melbourne Brunch Scene Handbook - the atmosphere was cosy (like an European village cottage), seating was very comfy, staff were super friendly and lastly the menu offering was just something unique. For me personally, I take pride in the fact that in Melbourne you can travel the world on your tummy without leaving the city and Tipsy Village just gave us that ticket. I'm certainly no Polish cuisine connoisseur but am familiar Pierogis. To take it up a notch, apparently they just introduced black pudding pierogis so we went for it as a sharing dish. I had the Crispy Black Pudding and my wife had poached eggs on sourdough. Food aside (which was amazing by the way), Peter, the boss was very open to feedback and improvement opportunities. How often do you get management interested in customer feedback? We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Tipsy Village and it was by pure blessing that we stumbled upon this little gem amidst the chaos across the road.

When you leave Tipsy Village you walk out feeling exactly that ‘tipsy’. The flavour sensation is strong and impresses you to linger for more.

The menu has a homemade feel and warmth to soothe the soul. Unlike the competitors, the café is unique, less plastic looking, and prides itself on organic establishment away from the material world society is attracted to.

Peter (café owner and accomplished chef) is a man that could teach, mentor, and provide nostalgia from a world once forgotten regarding food. It was a privilege to meet Peter and listen to his wealth of knowledge of food, he really has learnt and lives by the old quote ‘teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime’.

Some things to note: he crafts an impressive range of pickles and preserves made with salted brine, reuses whey from milk products to dumplings (homemade pierogi), eggs that are free range but also sourced from the sustainable egg farms, the mixed mushroom basked in sav blanc on the breakfast menu, the white pork sausage carefully worked with marjoram and caramelised onions, incredible smoothies from bio-dynamic sourced milk products.

He is a proud man who experiments and delivers food with care, dignity and so pleased to show case his passion with such humbleness – truly remarkable how it is recreated in the menu.

Take the time to go to Tipsy Village and take the time to speak with Peter about his culinary skills – so much detail. His skills, quality of produce and finite practices to produce food is amazing. He strives to source his ingredients of the purest and best of its kind, with continuous development in the menu.

With his Polish roots he connects the historical dishes to the people who keep the traditional recipes safe and preserves market suppliers. A cherished eatery that makes his community special - Peter is an unsung hero of this industry.

This is a simple and homey cafe. More down to earth than it's neighbours. I was drawn in by the pierogi offerings and my weren't the cheese potato dumplings filling and creamy. Thankfully they were served with a side of pickles and sauerkraut. The coffee was good.

However, this place did not receive a 5 because of the cleanliness (the tables were yet to cleaned up), efficiency of 1 waitress (new girl? But the service was polite) and what I deem to be my friend's overpriced porridge muesli which appeared very average for its price.

I would go back only for the pierogi.

Unpretentious place serving super good, no fuss food. You won't see amazing presentation/works of art here. Lots of vegetarian options. Owner knows his stuff and provides great service. Good coffee too. Highly recommended.

I can't decide what was better, the lovely warm service or the delightful food and coffee. The pancakes were as fluffy as I could have hoped for with well selected fruits, the coffee was perfect in every way. I had to return the next day just for more of this place.

This quaint cafe has recently changed owners and is absolutely perfect (I believe it’s now called something Tipsy?). Located in the most divine location overlooking the Sth Melbourne markets. My partner and I ventured here on a busy Sunday morning to have a feed before market exploration.
I ordered the smashed avocado, feta and beetroot relish which was lovely and my partner had the eggs with sides of avocado, bacon and smoked salmon.
Service was lovely and friendly; despite all the pretentious middle aged women who seemed to be frequenting this cafe and appearing to complain about absolutely everything that tried to make everyone in their vicinity hear them. Pity for the middle aged women, because they were the only ones looking like fools when the food was delicious, Iced lates were incredibly chilled and refreshing and service was incredibly friendly!
My partner and I look forward to returning!

Found this hidden treasure!!! Such a lovely restaurant, can tell from every corner every wall that it was full of dedication and passion. Indoor and outdoor seating are both lovely, the menu is full of surprises! You can order those typical cafe breakfast but highly recommend you to try the Polish dishes! The food was presented with perfect plating and the right portion. I was so fascinated by the bar and its wall of jam/ fruit. Staff members were amazing, very helpful and friendly, all of them seemed to love working there! Will definitely go back again!

Love this place!! Food, drinks and Peter, who is the owner and an amazing host. He will approach to tell you stories and make you laugh. Food is just delicious and the place is a total gem with a lot of charm. My fresh squeezed Orange juice (or mimosa, up to you) it was delicious, the orange juice was in a jar and I was able to top up three times! Vitamin C in a cold Sunday. We are planning to come back for dinner and try the dumplings. Thanks Peter for the laughs and stories.

A gorgeous find with the most delicious Polish food! Paul our host was amazing and looked after our table of 16 for our Christmas dinner. All of the food was so tasty and delicious. The wines were perfect and the shots at the end of the night completed a fantastic dinner experience. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous little place to sit across from South Melbourne Market. All the servers are wonderful and lovely and have very quick service. The menu is quite wide in terms of breakfast to lunch, however all the food is prepared quickly, and fresh. The presentation of the food is also lovely and I love the feeling of home I have when I eat their food.

Hands down the best food I've had in a long time. Prices are extremely reasonable and the staff are absolutely lovely. My meal of smashed avocado, eggplant, mushrooms, spinach and cheese was terrific. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

A cosy little restaurant serving Polish French cuisine, right next to South Melbourne Market. The decoration and atmosphere gives you a homey feel. The owners are very welcoming. We ordered two kinds of pierogi, full English breakfast, scrambled eggs with sausages and French toast. All are well-presented and delicious.

We were wondering where to eat when we wandered past and saw the inviting seats out the front and realised here was a good chance to sample some Polish cuisine. The owner greeted us so warmly and was super helpful with the recommendations. The Ruskie Pierogi was scrumptious, featuring home made cheese, served with coleslaw and onion cream sauce. We were excited to find Hungarian Goulash and Pork Spare Ribs on the menu. The flavours were awesome in both, the result of many hours of slow cooking. The meat was overcooked for our liking though in both, so a little tough and too chewy. A cozy and homely environment, as if we were in someone's house. Amazing hospitality from an owner who knows how to make his diners feel welcome. There's a decent selection of Polish beers and vodkas too to complete the experience.

A cute, very unassuming place. Great service and a delicious menu. We had the baked eggs and breakfast melt. The breakfast melt is definitely something I’d come back for. Good atmosphere opposite the market too. I would go back for sure.
