Review Squires Loft Albert Park - Melbourne

Ayon Banerjee
Squires Loft get the steaks right every time. The pork ribs are sensational too. There a great bar and wine selection available. There a decent selection of sides to go with the meals. Always a safe bet for a good meal out.

First of all, big shout out to all the staff that served us on 18 Dec. The place was almost full at dinner time and there were only like 4-5 floor staff. Despite running around from table to table, they were all very friendly and helpful all night (we were there for at least 3 hours). Food were good, slightly pricey, and despite being a steak place, we quite enjoyed their prawn dish haha

Got to be one of the best steaks i've ever had. Rib eye 300g done rare, perfectly cooked and what a cut. Didn't really need the knife. Really attentive service and clean and comfortable surrounds. Unbeatable for the price.

Customer service isn't the best here neither are the steaks. They took awhile to get our order and it took them even longer to bring it out. When our steaks were brought out they just put it on the table and didn't even say what was what and walked away without saying a single word. The quality of the steak is below average. I ordered a Black Angus Rib-eye and it was not good at all. I think I've got a six-pack on my jaw from chewing. (I eat out A LOT at different steak joints and this one is one of less tastiest and below average quality). Toilets aren't all that clean with urine all over the floor and seats. The soap dispenser isn't working aswell as the hand dryers being out-of-order so they have a communal roll of paper towel for everyone to share that's not in a holder so it's absolutely drenched from everyone touching it and using it. Overall the place seems a little run-down. Maybe it needs something to bring the life back into it and maybe a new supplier of meat or better chef - who knows.

Best steak I have ever had!! The food is delicious. I definitely recommend the mushroom and feta entrée and the rib eye steak with blue cheese sauce. The staff are also very welcoming and friendly. You have to visit this place!!

Our family's favourite restaurant. Food is good and the service. We always have our special occasion in Squire's Loft just like tonight. Celebrating 88th birthday.

What a great experience. The food was outstanding absolutely fantastic the Dry Aged Ribeye steak was one of the best I have had. The service was fantastic, I tip my hat to the young Brazilian waitress as she guided us through the menu and was spot on with her suggestions an absolute asset to the restaurant. just a really fantastic meal and the best service I have received in a long time. I was with 2 other blokes and we all were extremely impressed with both service and food. Thanks guy's

This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants. The food was first class. The dining room had a delightful ambience. The service was friendly. I ordered from the Specials menu and I wasn't disappointed. We were dining with both a young child and an elderly person in a wheelchair. The staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Good Food Good Mood
We were shouted at Squires Loft for our birthday dinner tonight and whilst the service was not particularly attentive and the tables squashed a little too close together there’s really no denying they do an exceptional steak.

I went for the black Angus eye fillet which was cooked rare to perfection and was really a flawless cut of meat. I got the creamy garlic sauce but preferred my husbands mushroom, it almost doesn’t need a sauce as the basting has sufficient flavour.

The chips were yummy dunked into the sauce though and the warm bread served at the beginning of the meal was a nice way to start. We really didn’t need dessert given we were so full but it certainly tempted

Rude staff, seem like he or she has their period.

I eat here alot and have left 5 star reviews previously. My last two visits though have not been as great. The steaks have not been cooked correctly. My partner and I akways ask for medium cooked steak and its always more like medium rare. For a resturant specialising in steak - this is really not good enough. I really hope they correct whatever is happening lately so I can continue to eat here as I have for the last few years.

Hands down best steak, we travel over an hour just to come and have a meal here. Great service, Ryan the front of house/Manager is a great bloke who makes you feel just like your at home.

My sister and I took my dad here last night as a gift. He said it was the best steak he had ever had. It was cooked to perfection. The mushroom sauce, jalapeno sauce and pepper sauce were exceptional. The sauce with the breast of chicken and prawns not so much. When you order a steak meal you get the choice of a baked potato, salad or chips, my advice would be, allow a small salad to accompany the chips or baked potato. My sister was told no when she asked, the waitress didn't even ask "we can give you both but it will be an extra $ for the salad, a little disappointed. Overall a very nice experience. Thank you!
Tina
My partner and I enjoyed a steak dinner here not too long ago. Customer service was exceptional as our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. We had the Baked Mushroom & Feta with garlic butter for our entree- it was deliciously juicy and flavoursome. We ordered the Eye Fillet and Scotch- both medium rare. The Eye Fillet was cooked perfectly and very tender; however, my Scotch steak was a bit too undercooked as it was quite tough and chewy in comparison.

Came for dinner with a group. Lots of options to choose from on the menu. Ordered the pork ribs w chips and an extra side of asparagus. The plate the meal came on was really awkward to eat from. Odd shape and very small for the amount of food that came on the plate. Kind of impossible to cut the meat without stuff falling onto the table. Ribs were soft and juicy but lacked flavour and chips were not seasoned. The asparagus was alright but nothing special.

We came here at 2:30pm, with barely any customers inside. Wife wanted to order something from the bar, while I wanted to order steak. Both the waiter and the manager were equally rude. They simply “shush” us to the bar area.
Having said that, the food was quite good. I had a beautiful rib eye with blue cheese sauce.
Melbourne To Mouth
So many steaks to choose from in this Melbourne classic. You can visit just about any of the Squire’s Loft locations in Melbourne and not be disappointed, Albert Park is no different. Eye fillet is always my go-to, and their black angus 300g fillet is worth every dollar and always cooked to perfection. Usually quite a business crowd in this particular one given the location but it’s definitely a spot for everyone! Get there for a reliable steak and a nice red to match.

Was taken here for a impromptu birthday dinner- decor was lovely and the waitress was very friendly. I am a BIG steak fan and am always happy with the selection of cuts you get a Squires. Entree we shared the garlic mushrooms with baked feta. As always, it’s a favourite (even though I’m dairy intolerant and had to pick off the cheese... ok, I still ate some feta. It’s so good baked and with that flavour of garlic). I digress- we both ordered eye fillets for mains. I ordered mine blue with the prawns and the garlic sauce. Steak was cooked perfectly and was so delicious. The boy also said that he was happy with his. Definitely recommend for a great steak. Can’t beat their eye fillet!

I've eaten at every squires loft in Melbourne and Albert park is my favourite by far! Steak always cooked to perfection and everything is 5 stars from start to Finnish! My favourite steak house ever!
Stephanie
AWFUL

I had the most horrendous experience here. I was a regular at the Squires Loft on Toorak road to the point where I would take a member of my sales team there at least once per week, so after a therapist session on Queens road, I didn't hesitate to drag my boyfriend to the squires loft around the corner, before going out to a friends party... BIG mistake!

The steaks were cooked medium rare and everything was perfect as normal, only as my boyfriend was eating he noticed a massive hair on his steak. It was half sticking out with the rest of the hair wrapped around and stuck on the piece of meat.

He pulled it off and informed one of the waiters stating "I don't want you to do anything but I'm just informing you that there's a hair on my steak, so you can tell the kitchen - but don't worry happy to continue eating this one" he doesn't usually complain or speak up - unlike me! The particular waiter who served us was polite and thanked us for letting him know. Then being paranoid, Mitch Hill continued to scrape his knife right along the steak and found yet another hair. After this he could no longer stomach his meal and informed the waiter again.

We came to the conclusion that to have more than one hair on it all wrapped so tightly around, that the piece of meat may have been dropped or something prior to being cooked. (Merely our guess) they then said they would replace his steak so we waited and waited. By the time the replacement meal has been served, I had completely finished eating and had to wait there approx another 50 mins all up. It made us late to our plans that night and just ruined our meal having to watch eachother eat - when the bill come I was not happy to be charged full price for the absolute mess of a meal we had just endured. They would not budge stating that "the hair on the steak was nobodies who worked here" basically calling us liars and implying that we were to blame. (And that it was mine - which we knew wasn't the case as they were only found by scraping steak and was completely ravelled around.)
They were so righteous and arrogantly sure that they were right, rather than actually considering that maybe they've messed up. So ridiculous. To top things off one of the girls who was standing there started rolling her eyes and pointing at my boyfriend whilst laughing as he was arguing with the black guy at the till. The way they treated us was absolutely atrocious - and I have never been back a single Squires Loft ever since! I used to love going to Toorak as the Irish lady was lovely. If I could give a 0 for this experience I would.

Squires Loft you have burnt a very regular customer!
Luke Martini
Went here often for lunch as worked in the area. Recently returning and they have mucked around with the burger menu and now the burgers are nowhere near as tasty. Other dishes I have had are quite nice, but bring back the old burger!!
Brian Salas
Squires loft franchise always delivers a good sized, tasty meal, it's just a let down that they cannot replicate the atmosphere in each venue, the city centre one feels like you are surrounded by factories and there is nothing to feel "cosy" about.
Helen
A good big portion of food and very warm inside during the Mel winter night. I've ordered a pink moscato and that made me a night to remember.
Sue S
Very very average steak, I could have a much better medium rare steak in anywhere of Melbourne at this price, plus the staff was not friendly at all. I definitely won't recommend to any of my friends.
Fresh
Been to Squires Loft South Yarra a few times so had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately everything was just slightly off. The service was just ok, the food was just ok. The steaks came out slightly cold (rump and eye fillet) and the tuna was slightly over. Chips just needed another 20 seconds in the fryer. Service was not particularly attentive. Everything was just so close but not quite there. Maybe it was my standards that were too lofty.
Danny Nguyen
Very well cooked steak with an excellent sauce. The whole place has a nice feel to it, very good for intimate dinners with friends and family. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had a very wonderful time.
Spaghetti Monster
I wouldn't usually eat in a place like this as it's quite expensive but on this occasion, my company picked up the tab. I had the rump steak with black pepper sauce and a baked potato with sour cream. I have to say that this was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. Colleagues of mine had chips and had generous portions to boot. Service was top notch too and the place was packed even on a Tuesday lunchtime, which says a lot. Beers were pretty reasonable at $10 a pint. So if you're feeling flush and are after a good steak then you won't go wrong eating here. I'd have rated higher but I think it's a little overpriced for what you get on the plate.
Clarice Lam
I am usually very picky with my steak, it has be perfectly done and presented well.

However, the dish does not look as Instagram friendly as I would thought.

Also, the tenderloin in the steak makes it hard to cut through it.
Divya Sharma
Absolutely loved this place. The meal was so good that even though there is just one vegetarian dish, I can't wait to be back and eat the same thing again! Very friendly staff. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant but there was no rush and everyone was very relaxed! For steak lovers, definitely a must visit!
Adrian Damen
The best steak and ribs I have ever had! Deliciously tender and so juicy.

Squires Loft is a must for all meat lovers! I have been many times and have never been disappointed. The staff are amazing and the food is to die for, a must go for everyone!

I will keep going back!
Jane B
Eye fillet medium rare is cooked into perfection with mushroom sauce. I love the pork ribs as well! However the service sometime can be really bad (with inexperienced waitress) but sometime can be really good! So really, it depends. I think the trainee ones shall wear a badge stated "trainee" so we as a customer know what to expect.
Trevor
I get the eye fillet 300g medium with chips, black pepper sauce, onion rings and the feta mushrooms!
This place is unreal never disappoints!
Recommend trying the mushrooms 👌
Ang
Definitely one of my favorites for steak. The eye fillet was tender, juicy & cooked to perfection. The mushroom sauce was to die for. Great selection of wines. The staff were super accommodating to taking a pram with us. Busy Thursday night. Loved it. Highly recommend.
Food Is Life 👌
Went to this Squires Loft (I usually go to Essendon) after picking up a well valued Scoopon voucher for $80 where we could spend up to $180! My partner and I ordered the dips, two glasses of Malbec, two steaks with potato and fries and two sides of veggies and Greek salad. All up we spent $176 which was perfect. The food was absolutely fantastic and came out within a good time frame. My steak was a tiny bit over cooked but that's really picking at a great meal. Loved the grilled veggies and the generous fetta serving on the salad! Exceptional service by all staff too.
Barbs Blarbs
Disappointing. 1 hour wait for food (table of 7)
Medium rare steak arrived well done. Disappointing coming from a place that specializes in steaks.
No soap in ladies toilets.
Staff finish busy lunch period and forget we are still there. No water refills.
Don't think I'll be back.
Jennyfer Sung
We ordered full course entree-main-dessert. However they served dessert right after we finished our entree.(???)We were very confused so they brought it back to the kitchen.
We waited for quite some time for the main to be served. After we finished with it they served our dessert. It was creme brulee with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was frozen and creme brulee was cold too...so we know straight away it's the previous dessert that they tried to serve us after entree. Pretty much they just put it in the fridge, and serve it again...
Judge Betty Cocker
HIGH COURT OF CONSUMPTION

BETTY COCKER CJ

SUMMARY JUDGMENT

1. The COCKER loves a good fat piece of chunky meat. And she also loves steaks. Is Squire's Loft the best place to get them? Perhaps not, but it's not too bad, either. Speaking chunk... the Judge needs to get herself some tissues.

2. Pink red meat. She loves it. Look, you won't go wrong here for steak, really. Unless you're one of those pretentious Gordon Ramsay types. What a babe, though.
Homerj
A bit pricey but very delicious ! I had the 200g fillet which came with chips ( chips could have been hotter ) I ordered the mushroom sauce on the side which was delicious . They did give us a small taste of delicious bread. The actual lay out of the restaurant is nicer than Toorak Road but the Service and Food don’t compare...

Been here a while ago, went with a group of 4 . My husband love the grill stuffed mushrooms. Can't really finished the whole dish by myself but I am quite satisfied with my steak. Nice surrounding and deco .
Sam
Nice service, but the food didn't impress especially for the price. The cuts of meat were generous but the flavour wasn't anything remarkable. I was disappointed that I couldn't get a garlic or herb butter which is normally available at any restaurant serving steaks. Menu was lacking. It's a nice place though, we just feel the menu could do with big improvements.
Nikki
We had dinner here on Saturday night, we had a very very long wait (over an hour) from time of being seated to when our order was taken then an even longer wait for food to arrive, even trying to get drinks took a long time. Having been to other Squires Loft restaurants I was really looking forward to my meal. We had the pork ribs to start and they were delicious, cannot fault them at all. My main course was eye fillet and baked potato, unfortunately my steak was overcooked and the potato was hard and was like it had been cooked three days ago, it wasn't even warm. We also were not given any options for dessert which I thought was unusual.
Country Pie
Pros: warm bread, good chips
Cons: over cooked steaks, burned grilled vegie, small side dish portion
Services: very casual
Decor: tired
Not hurry back...
Tony
Unassuming great steak. Love the fact every time you come and order the always nail it. It may seem a bit formulaic, however you can't complain about good quality steak cooked well;)
Vince
Love it! The pork spare ribs to die for...200gram eye fillet has a fantastic flavour. Staff can be a little more attentive but the food makes up for that. If you love meat this one is worth a try I think you will be impressed.
MrSmilee
Fabulous. Great food and atmosphere. Attentive staff who know their menu/wine selection etc. Will be heading back there again for perfectly cooked steak and ribs.

Came here Thursday night . Weren't as busy as the South Yarra branch . Got my other half to try this pork spare ribs and he absolutely hooked in to it . Their ribs were so flavoursome and the meat itself just falls off from the bones .seriously who doesn't love a good tasty ribs that will get your hands dirty Right ? I don't order steak here because I personally think squire loft does their ribs better . Tried steak here before and weren't impressed . I also like their onion rings . It can get messy but they were so yummy that you won't care . Trust me You will addict to it once you have tried it . Oh yeah and that Grill vegetables were great to break it down and balance it out from all those Oily food . Why ? so it make us less Quilty . Lol . And if you are planning to order steak to try . Please do try garlic creamy sauce to go with . Those garlic creamy sauce is a one special sauce , Not too creamy and super delicious . I love their customer service . All wait staff were so friendly and attentive .what a great evening coming home and a big food baby I say :)

Great service, great steak. Went for a steak over the weekend. First time at Squires Loft. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. I couldn't fault my waitress, she was great as were all the other staff I came into contact with. The steak was good (I had an eye fillet), maybe slightly over priced but cooked perfectly. Great wine selection, nice restaurant, great atmosphere. I would return because the quality and service were great. Love that this restaurant can cater for large bookings as well.

Great steak. Love coming here for a Friday night steak best steak after work and a good happy hour.

Loved it!. Was there on Friday night. Great steak, great wine, great staff. Everyone was happy, friendly and efficient. Will be returning for food and service.

Great Food and Service. I am so glad that I had not looked at the reviews before going to Squires, as I would never have gone. I cant find a fault in anything, the Staff were friendly and the service quick. I had the chicken breast it was tasty, tender and moist, the rest of the table all had different types of steak and all said the steaks were cooked to perfection and very much enjoyed. I would recommend Squires to anyone but especially the carnivores who love a good chunk of meat. Those that don't like steak the chicken, green peppercorn sauce, chips and Greek salad is the way to go. Oh and the warm bread that is brought to the table on arrival is a great start.

Poor service mediocre food, didnot care attitude - avoid this resturant. Made reservation for 4 on a tuesday night. were given table in far back corner and were literally forgotten by the staff, as though they didnot know we were there!
we ordered wine and soft drinks upon arrival....half an hour later had to call someone to enquire where our drinks were, only to be told ordered had not been entered. we then didnot bother ordering entree as service was so slow, and just ordered steaks for our main course. 3 of the 4 steaks came out not as we ordered them , we didnot bother sending it back as there was no one to complain to! and we couldnot be bothered waiting any longer. salads were soggy and tasteless....one order had 1 potatoe the others had 1/2 a potatoe??? still can,t understand why. we have been to 3 other squires loft's and all had same staff "don't care attitude" but this squires loft was the worst..
as we made reservation late in afternoon, we can understand why other steak houses were full and this resturant had availability.
we were all outraged by the poor quality of service, food and attitude.
this experience we had is a example to change pay structures to the american model where pay rates are minimal and tips reward good food, good service and good staff attitude..

A fish rots from the head. I have been here many times as I work close by. The food is good, although most prices are in line with finer dining establishments. The wine list (particularly by the glass) is fairly poor.

What consistently lets this place down is the Manageress, who has proven to be repeatedly blunt, unaccommodating with basic requests and rude.

If this place had a better quality wine list, and a customer focused leader it would do far better.
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
It’s been years since I last ate at a Squires Loft and couldn’t recall what the steaks were like. And that’s the thing, the steaks here were satisfactory, making them unmemorable to me. Squires Loft wouldn’t be the first place I would think of when I get a steak craving, but I also wouldn’t have any opposition coming here (if I happened to be in the area that is)...
Stuck In Transit
There’s good steak and then there’s Squires Loft Steak. We made a booking for a group of 10 at the St Kilda Road/Queen’s Road location and were seated on the bar side of the restaurant. Although food was a 10 plus, the atmosphere was the downfall of our experience.

500g Pork Ribs with baked potato & BBQ sauce. Great! Tender and the meat fell off the bones. but Hurricanes Sydney is still my favourite!
Theycallmemaggie
But what this dish lacked in regards to appearance, it more than made up for in taste. Unbeknown to the human eye but instantly discernible by taste is the very aromatic herbed flavouring, like no other I have tasted before.

Comforting Unaccommodating. My best mate Rooster and I went to squires loft for my first time and his possible third!
He had raved about how great the steaks are ....and boy was he right on the money!
We both ordered the 300g rib eye medium rare, onion fries and char grilled veg! Which were both perfect choices and sides. Comfort Food Personified!
The only down side was that our waiter could have been more accommodating and attentive. If so he would of easily squeezed 2 or 3 more beers out of us!
On a whole, great experience!
Highly recommended!
Xtc_candyflip
Yummy. Ate here last night for the first time with 3 friends. Selection of steaks and sauces to choose from. My eye fillet was cooked perfectly (blue). Good wine although wait staff appear to have no knowledge of wine and could not offer any assistance with regard to matching one perfectly to your meal. Dessert was delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Chef with an ego - not good......... Went to Squires loft queens road and both ordered a steak. One rib eye medium rare - one eye fillet medium.
Unfortunately, when our meals arrived the eye fillet was well done and, at appared from the first few bites, so was the rib eye.
After making the choice to send out meals back, to our surprise the wait staff bought back the rib eye cut in half and said "I don't know what you call medium rare but this is medium rare" and presented the steak cut in half. It was in the middle 30% medium rare but obviously cooked unevenly.
To have an embarrassing moment in the middle of a busy restaurant because the chef has an ego is unacceptable. Over the past 3-6 visits to this restaurant, the service and quality has slipped dramatically (maybe change of owners - don't seem to see the old owner here any more). They, as usual, did amazing ribs and also offered some free dessert. At the end of the day this is the final staw here and we will only be venturing to the Toorak Road location, which although less convienient for me to get to, is far superior!!

Nice steaks. Cooked perfectly to order. Good service. Janet & front if house gentleman were very friendly and efficient. Enjoyed our meals a very pleasant experience. Will return.
Melanie
It's just steak and chips. Nothing fancy about it. I heard so many good things about it but I wasn't overly impressed with the food.
Geeza
Wagyu Berger with no Wagyu? and overpriced. After several great (but overpriced) Wagyu Bugers i had one recently which had no Wagyu!

Taste liked normal mince and zero reddish brown oil and no flavor - please don't charge 27.50 for a burger when i can get better for less (station hotel, rockpool and may others)

Reviews. I have heard nothing but fantastic feedback about your restaurant, to the point where one of my sons won't eat steak anymore unless its from your restaurant.
I am so intrigued that I am coming to your restaurant for my other sons 30th birthday on the 23rd April 2014 to see for myself. Really looking forward to it.

J Iversen

Disappointing. I used to frequent Squires (South Yarra) and Rare (King St) quite a bit. Unfortunately, this 'branch' of the franchise was a disappointment.

Atmosphere and service are fine, but not great, and definitely don't compare to the aforementioned establishments. The ribs weren't very good (used to having the meat melt/fall off the bone.. these were the opposite of that) and the chips were floury and something you'd expect from a train station. Overall, a disappointment and won't be back.
Emma
The steak is always amazing. A regular customer here. Never a bad steak and the sauces are to die for . I recommend this to everyone!
Wendy Tran
LOVE IT!. I have been here over a dozen times and I have never been disappointed. I always get rare eye fillet with garlic sauce, it is to die for!
I also love the chocolate milkshake, different to any other that I have tried before.
The entrees are amazing, camembert cheese, ribs, mushrooms!!
Pinch Of Bacon
The food is bland and the service extremely slow!
Danny Jay
Shame shame shame, really bad service and rude staff. Medium was over cooked and rare was not cooked enough .Salad & onion rings came after stakes were finished. Not happy at all.

Great Food and Ambience. We went there on a Monday afternoon after hearing about the great Steaks. The restaurant was not totally full however we still waited for about 5 minutes to get a table. Most people here seemed regulars and mostly were out for a formal lunch. We weren't very hungry so we skipped the mains and went right to the mains. We had RIbeye on the bone and Chicken breast fillet with barbecue sauce, black pepper and creamy garlic sauce. The chicken was amazingly soft, juicy and hot which i totally loved. The steak too was amazing, perfectly medium-rare cooked and tender making it delicious with the creamy garlic sauce. Both the dishes came with either chips or salad. The food was great, fresh, hot and delectable. Would surely go back but on some weekend than a weekday.

Best ribs in town. Staff appropriate for environment. Troy always helpful. Great for a business lunch be it fast and furious or long and boozey.
Phigitmelbourne
Great flavoured steaks. A consistent restaurant that specialises in Steak and Ribs. Consistently good steaks and the services is reliable.

A little pricey, but good for an occasional splurge.
Johnny
THE BEST IN MELBOURNE !!!. Been a satisfied customer for years, always recieved great hospitality. The foods always been 110%. My fav is the ribs, reef and beef with garlic sauce, and if there's room at the end you have to try the chocolate pudding cake !!!
Daniel Smith
Extremely disappointed in the quantity for the price paid, not to mention you have to pay extra for sauces. Tasted ok but left feeling hungry. Dont understand how you could justify having a baked potato and a steak as a satisfying meal. Would not recommend this place
Ivaan Londar
Great food. Bit overpriced for what you get. But other than it is a great place for dinner.
Josh C
Had the ribs and the baked mushrooms with garlic butter and fetta for entree, and wanted to order the same stuff for the main.
Absolutely delish!
Angus rib eye for the main was cooked a perfect medium rare.
And their sticky date was good as well.
If the menu was cheaper, I'd probably eat here weekly!
Ellinopaido
All rounder. Very good venue for the all rounder type events, anything from a quiet dinner to a business meeting or after work drinks.
Food is great and steaks cooked to perfection. Service is great, furthermore along list of food selection to choose from
Highly recommended.
Nicole
Steak is good but.... I've been to this place twice now (not my choice) and I'm not in any rush to go back. Whilst the meat is very good (I had the lamb loin chops and they were delicious), that's it. I eat out at a lot of restaurants and one of my pet hates are places that don't make their own dips and then charge the moon. Yes this place is a steak room, but when you're charging $14.50 for dips (and $35ish for mains) I don't expect to see three small portions of cheap dip you get from the supermarket. There's a lot nicer steak restaurants charging similar prices that offer a lot more than this place. It's pricey and lacks anything other than a decent piece of meat.
Bekir
Had a really tasty steak, service was bit slow but had a great time.
Dinner
Had char grilled salmon and salad. Was very average.
Peter
Best Streaks in Melbourne. If you want a good Steak then you need to go to this place. Waiting time can be a little long at times but its definitely worth the wait. Even their entrees are sooo yummy. They have the best BBQ ribs.. they just melt in your mouth. Oh and the spicy sausage is amazing! All round. 9.5 out of 10!

It must be good. I seen Buddy Franklin and the Hawthorn boys there :-)
Candice
Had Pork ribs with chips and garlic sauce. The ribs were amazing, some of the best I have had in Melbourne. Garlic sauce is sooo good. Prices are more reasonable than other steakhouses such as Meat & Wine Co. Will be returning soon!!
Vane
The ribs are the best. Do not miss these. They are great! Had lunch a couple of days ago and enjoyed myself.
Camo
Rumpa Dumpa!. Always a great meal. Steak was a bit tough - bit like the waitress. But I always seem to leave very fulfilled. Had a medium rare scotch filet with a spud and mushroom sauce. A bit naked but delicious!

Good Food - Terrible Atmosphere. Food was fine, exactly as promised and what you expect from looking at the menu.

Staff were okay for the most part, friendly and capable but in general the atmosphere was terrible. We were rushed from the minute we walked in the door to order drinks and meals. At 9pm we were told that we'd better order everything else we wanted because they were closing at 10pm.

On a Saturday night in December, is this normal?? The website doesn't state this and nobody told us when it was booked or when we arrived. This was a Christmas dinner function and while none of us were in for an all nighter, we were hoping to be able to relax and enjoy our night without getting ushered through it. Our hosts were very embarrassed as they've dined at South Yarra many times and never had this experience before.

We were brought our bill after ordering dessert, even though we didn't ask for it. Not everyone had dessert so when we wanted to order more drinks, about 9.30, we were given a hard time by the waitress about why we had asked for the bill if we weren't finished!!

While the food was fine, I can get just as good a steak at a dozen places with fantastic service and wouldn't come back here.

Okay. I had my first experience at Squires Loft not long ago, my steak was lovely however the waitress argued with me when i told her how i want my steak cooked, i asked for it a little bit under medium and when she said not pink i said no i would like it quite pink but with no blood.. she continued to argue with me that how i wanted my steak cooked was medium-well done. I have never had any waiter/watiress argue with me on this and the fact that she did really annoyed me.. i ended up agreeing with her.. however it was cooked as i'd asked and i was happy with steak.. wasn't bad would go again but not in a hurry...

Never fails to impress me. If you have never been to a Squire's Loft before then you are trully lacking something in your life. My first experience was many years ago at the Toorak Rd venue, followed by StKilda (now gone), the CBD venue &now the City Rd restaurant is my favourite. Never in all this time have I had anything close to a negative experience & the food is ALWAYS wonderful.
The staff are continually flowing through the restaurant; fetching your food & drinks, stopping for a brief chat when it's not too busy (rare) and always doing something.
In the kitchen it always seems like the staff are working in overdrive as meals keep flying out of there non-stop.
After mowing through the menu a few times over I can highly suggest EVERYTHING that they do. My meal hasn't changed in a couple of years - 400gm rump steak (I like the fat), rare, baked potato and a peppercorn sauce.
Be sure to have a look at their very well chosen wine list. Cocktails are a bit lacking but you don't really go to a steak place for cocktails do you?
Now I'm hungry & might just have to make a reservation.

Great place, friendly and efficient service. The staff- our waiter for the night was Alexa, who greeted us at the door and took care of us for 2.5 hrs. The food was just perfect: all 10 steaks ordered came at the same time and were perfectly done as requested. Hat off for being so efficient and providing great steaks with a good atmosphere.

Awesome ribs, prawns and dip. Really good boerewors. Great fast service for a Saturday night!

Meaty goodness. I recently went to Squires Loft off St Kilda Rd for dinner with a group of friends. The staff were welcoming and always nearby to attend to our needs. The meat was grilled perfectly to each of our requests and was very juicy. I had the ribs which were just beautiful. The meat slid off the bone easily and the portion was large. The quality of the meals at Squires Loft definitely justify their price. I look forward to returning here soon.

Noisy - but convenient for a lot.. I'm always the one out of the group who doesn't want to go to this joint - even though it is just a 10 second ride in the elevator.
Part because its too noisy, and part because there isn't anything exciting on the menu.

Rude and Abusive. I went to the squires loft on Queens Road for lunch today. After 40 minutes of waiting for our food I asked for an idea of when it would arrive. Despite being told 6 or 7 minutes we waited another 15. That was the end of my lunch break so I politely told the front of house person that I couldn't wait any longer.

What followed was the rudest shouting rant from the manager of the restaurant. No apology for the wait and no admission that our waitress should have warned us of the long delay. In fact, it was my fault because I could see the restaurant was busy - how long does it take to cook a rare steak? I was even accused of having "done this before" despite never having been to the restaurant before - I'm obviously not the first to have experienced this problem! However good the food is (or bad - we didn't get to eat) I would recommend steering well clear of this place on the basis of its aggressive, rude and abusive manager.

Honest tasty ribs. .
Pro's:
- Very satisfying ribs - not too much sauce, just the right amount of rub.
- Just about every cut of meat under the sun, and they know what you mean when you want it cooked medium/rare/well done etc...
- Can accommodate large groups so good for work parties.

Con's:
- Noisy, no sound dampening.
- Car parking can be at a premium as the underground car parking closes early.
- Mains don't come with much in the way of side dishes - you have to order those separate if you want them.

Squires loft has in my opinion discovered the secret to creating the perfect steak. I ordered the 300 gm eye fillet medium rare and it was cooked brilliantly. The presentation was immaculate, the serving of sides was generous and the overall service from all the staff was 10/10. For a steak one and a half inches thick to be able to be cut in one downward slice of a steakknife speaks volumes about how succulent and tender the quality of beef is that squires loft uses. My partner had the wagyu beef burger to which any other burger I have ever had pales in comparison. Squires loft gets a 10/10 in every department and for anyone looking for a great steak with a good atmosphere, you need not look anywhere else.

Not bad for Vegetarians!. I had the veggie platter (2 kebabs and a gorgeously cooked potato) but will be back for the cheezy things... baked brie and mushroom/feta thing... Good options for meatlovers too, of course, but don't leave your Vego friends at home!

The WAGYU beef burger, enough said!

The wagyu beef burger, enough said. Be prepared to wait for your food, but it's fantastic and worth every minute and cent.

Perfection Every Time!. I highly recommend getting the ribs as a starter. We ordered these, then about 2 minutes later they arrived at our table. I'm not too sure how they cook them but they just fall off the bone and melt so easily in your mouth!

Burgers, steaks, everything is always cooked to perfection.

Formerly known as The Grill Room, the Squires Loft Steakhouses are synonmyous with excellent quality produce and mouth watering meats. Looking around the place it seemed like a bit of boys club; not too many women around apart from the service. However, t

Where would you go if you were a man for your birthday? A steak house of course! (unless you are vegetarian.... or don't like steak I guess...) The first time we went to The Grill Room was for my boss' birthday 2 years ago, and we have been raving about i
