Review Le Miel Et La Lune - Melbourne

Nichakorn Pongsakornsathien
The first thing that drew my attention was how much bigger the dishes look in real life in comparison to the pictures on their website, which is always a big plus. They all were very delicious, you can definitely feel their efforts in each dish! My favorite is the spicy pork bone stew - it was deep in flavours and came in such a big pot. Noting that the price is on the pricey, but definitely worth it! Oh one down side is that their iced matcha was unfortunately not good...

🇰🇷 hearty korean meals 🥘 mama’s soy bean stew 🍚 fish roe on stone rice 🍣 sashimi salad bowl 🧇 injeolmi croffle 🏠: @han_lemiel 📍: 330 Cardigan St, Carlton 📝: Carlton’s newest Korean restaurant, housed within the cute little day-time cafe, Le Miel Et La Lune. They’re open every Thursday to Saturday night from 5.30PM-9PM for hearty Korean dishes that will warm you up this winter. ❤️: Could not get enough of the 🥘🐮 Mama’s Soy Bean Stew with house-made soy bean paste, beef, zucchini, tofu, spinach with rice and radish kimchi slaw on the side. The 🐟🍚 Fish Roe on Stone Rice was also delicious, especially when the rice on the side becomes slightly burnt and crispy after served 😍.

Best brioche french toast anyone can ask for. It’s sweet though but the combination of banana on fluffy brioche with bacon to cut through the dense and a pistachio nut glaze just makes this dish go from delicious to dayum!! Also Mork hot chocolate is always a plus compared to other cafes. Definitely worth a visit :)

Was there for the dinner service. The restaurant is nice, wait staff are lovely and the ambience is fairly chill (music is not too loud). The food was good but nothing exceptional (about as good as any other Korean restaurant). However considering the portion sizes are all really small, the fact that side dishes cost extra and how expensive all the dishes are, I definitely don't think this restaurant is worth it.

Good ambience. Liked the hot chocolate (70% dark), not overly sweet. However I was disappointed with the food, especially the pork belly hash - plating was a bit odd too. Poke bowl was alright but not particularly impressive given the near $20 price tag.

Insta: melbfoodie_mark YT: MelbFoodieMark ** Check them out for more food reviews in Melbourne! - A cozy little corner cafe in Carlton far away from the busy Lygon street. I've been to all the cafes in Carlton and by far, this place is my favourite. I love coming here in between classes to have some care-free moments during the day while enjoying warm natural sunlight coming through its big windows. Such a peaceful soothing ambience :) Not to mention, I adore their beautiful vintage interiors and friendly service! . I usually grab coffee here but finally decided to try their lunch menu - "Mushroom Veggie Bowl" ($9.5). It was simple but absolutely delicious - clearly made with fresh ingredients. I liked how it was kept light without adding any overpowering seasoning. I'd love to try other brunch menus next time. . I kind of don't want this cafe to get any popular than it already is since I want it kept as my secrete haven LOL. Regardless, this venue is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area hoping to escape from your busy life. Too bad they don't open on Sundays - I'd love to sit there for hours with a book :)

Very friendly staff but food was a bit slow to come out of the kitchen, despite not many customers dining. Friend ordered the big breakfast but thought it was not big at all, however this did not contribute to the rating.

Absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommended. Great coffee, fantastic food and the service was 100%

Coffee was so rough, Without any milk foam, i even can made it by home. Disappointed. The attitude of the barista is worse than before.

Best poke bowl I’ve ever had! Just wished the salmon was more generous!<br/><br/>FOOD: I ordered the Poke Bowl and I also tried the Corn Fritters and Potato Hash and they all were done really well! The food were simple and have Japanese inspired flavours but classic brunch dishes! The Poke Bowl’s salmon was AMAZING and it was truly marinated well while the toppings had flavour and the sauce was good but it was just maybe 5-6 pieces of Salmon for $17 which threw me off slightly but the flavour was truly the winner! <br/><br/>SERVICE: Pleasant!

Avoid this cafe as much as you could, no service attitude at all. Food is just unbearble. Ordered a soy chai, soy milk was not even heated with chai, chai powder was just on top of soy milk and texture is awful. Avocado and sauce in dish was freezing and not edible, terrible experience. Read through some of the reviews I was so surprised to find that I experienced the same bad service as others did back in 2015, 2016! The waitress threw menu, cups and water on table and didnot say anything throughout the whole time taking our order except one word 'ok' at the end. There were uncleaned coffee marks on my coffee cup but I did not bother to complain as I didn't think I would get any sort of apologies. After spending $50 we were still hungry and headed to the cafe down the street for another meal...<br/>

Very cute place, love siting down here in the morning with all the nature light, the menu was quite interested with some Japanese and Korean style food, the coffee was pretty decent.

A little hidden gem in a quieter part of Carlton, Le Miel Et La Lune is a cute little cafe, with fantastic service and a friendly vibe. The coffee here is really good and the food menu is also top notch.<br/><br/>We often stop in for a quick cuppa and some yummy cake or pastries, which are fresh, tasty and delicious. This is also one of our favourite takeaway coffee places, as the wait isn't long and the coffee is just so good. Not a bad spot if you want to escape the busyness of Lygon Street, but still want great food, coffee and service.

Found this little cafe in Carlton. It was cozy and quiet. Ordered their pork belly hash, corn fritters, chilli scrambled egg, and french toast. At first, I wasn’t expecting much from the dishes, since they didn’t look very unique or ‘instagram worthy’. The pork belly hash was really nice, I loved the sauce and the mushroom. The potato hash was nice and crispy outside. The corn fritters was also really tasty. I liked the fluffy corn fritters, with the sweetness of the corn. Usually not a big fan of tomatoes, but the tomato relish actually a great complement to the dish. Bacon also added a nice saltiness, although I’d like it to be crispier outside. The chilli scrambled egg was probably the least special dish, but I liked the salmon on top, and the scrambled egg wasn’t plain like some I’ve tried at other places. The toast was crunchy, toasted perfectly. Lastly, the french toast, which to be honest I wasn’t excited about due to the pretty sloppy presentation. I expected my french toast to be crispy with a lot of toppings. But this one, it was very fluffy. The toppings were only bacon and banana, with caramel sauce. I loved it so much. The bread was soft, and it really suits well with the caramel sauce, which wasn’t overwhelming at all. The bacon added a nice salty kick to the dish. It was hearty and comforting. Overall, this cafe exceeded my expectation, and I would definitely come back and try their coffee next time.

Pretty cosy place, good environment for student or business people. The Hot Chocolate here is yummmm 😉 strong recommend them. They do have some yum Chocolate cake.

Really disappointed with my experience with le Miel today. I believe the change of ownership/staff has adversely impacted the quality of food and service. Portions were downsized and used to be fresh ingredients substituted with cheaper alternatives. This place have definitely lost its charm!

This is a lovely cafe, wonder service and delicious food. We loved the French toast, which was covered with pistachios and butterscotch sauce.

if you are a student at University of Melbourne, it can be a "must go" place for brunch. Only 10 minutes walk from the campus, close to the intersection of Lygon street. You can try the almond latte and here is also a vegetarian-friendly place.

Came here a year and half ago prolly. Pretty sure as well the menu has change. However i really enjoy the savoury dish. And really filling as well! :)

First time here, had the Pork Belly Potato Hash, a few things I’d like to point out about the dish. The mushroom sauce was cold which is a big no cuz everything else on the plate was hot, the button mushroom was not grilled but had that bitter taste from the pan which stands out from the mushroom sauce and that pretty much ruined the whole dish for me. The pork belly however is thinly sliced “bacon” and it’s chewy, yes it is still pork belly but look at the other cafes when they put pork belly on the menu it means thick cut juicy, succulent pork belly, I felt cheated. Service was average, when we were paying the waiter didn’t know what we ordered and kept asking us and that was really awkward.
Melbourne Digest
Tried out their big breakfast option and boy did I make a good decision there. While the cutlery was quite standard, the dish itself was filling, hearty and delicious with ample portions of bacon.
Yee Kee Ku
Lovely place for lunch or brunch serving fusion of Korean and western food. I love the salmon dish the most. Nice portion and will always come back.

This cafe is very close to melb uni so I came with my friend. I had the corn fritters and she had the french toast. Even though the food and the cafe did not look as aesthetic as others, the food was very very good. The corn fritters were so filling with lots of avocado that I got a stomachache for eating too much! Best corn fritters I have ever had!!<br/>We arrived 30 mins before they closed, but they waited for us to finish the meal :) thank you for great service and I would definitely come back again :)

I used to be a regular at Le Miel, however, upon visiting again recently I was left incredibly disappointed on several fronts. Firstly, the vegetarian breakfast is no longer available - you can compose it yourself from the eggs on toast and a selection of sides, however the price comes to around $23 as opposed to the previous price of $17.90. Not only that, the serving sizes of the sides (avocado, beans, and feta) are markedly smaller than previously, and what was formerly a delicious feta akin to Meredith dairy, now instead resembles a dry cube of rubber. On a final note of disappointment the hot chocolate was completely sedimented and no amount of stirring could break apart the clumps throughout. That was the last time I'll be eating at Le Miel.

Corner beauty ...<br/><br/>This is what we would expect from a Melbourne cafe; indoor and outdoor dining area housed in a renovated vintage corner building, leaving "some" characters intact and most importantly serving good coffee and food made "in-house".<br/><br/>Gotta comeback again. JT-21/03/2018.

Food is above average and in fair price. However the coffee doesn't taste good. It is bitter and milk is not creamy. I only finished 1/3 of my coffee.

My meanderings took me past this quiet place during lunch time but I decided to chance it anyway as the cafe had a pretty nice feel to it. After being given the menu I think they forgot me, so I eventually went and placed my order at the counter though it wasn't set up that way.<br/><br/>From the small but diverse range on the menu, I chose the poked bowl. While the pickled vegies and salmon were fine, the rice was hard, dry and stuck together like it was old so my jaws had a workout.<br/><br/>The points are for the decent hot chocolate. I've had better experiments and experiences elsewhere so won't be coming back.

Lovely little but comfortable cafe at the corner. I could sit there for hours with a book. Love the sesame cream pork belly with various mushrooms. The sauce was not too cloying despite the sesame content in it. It was almost like Japanese sesame salad sauce where nutty aroma married beautifully with a tang.

I've had coffee here before but this was my first time eating lunch here with 2 other friends. Luckily it wasn't too busy around 11.30am so we had immediate customer service who served our drinks first- affogato, iced chocolate, kale smoothie- and helped recommend popular dishes. The food came out relatively quickly and we enjoyed our meal- pork belly potato hash, sweet corn fritters (my friend said they've been the best she's eaten out so far!) and the chia seed pudding. All the dishes were full of flavour and very delicious; the sauces and vegetables etc. complemented each other well!<br/><br/>Food- price worthy and tasty 4.5/5<br/>Ambience- spacious, very comfortable, various styles tables/benches to sit at (looks better inside than observing the store from the outside I reckon) 5/5<br/>Service- friendly, good customer service 4.5/5<br/><br/>Would come back again (but there's not too mamy other dishes on the menu unless it's updated regularly?); the food would be appropriate for brunch as well
Affogato Addiction
Hip corner cafe. Very modern industrial decor. Small selection of sweet pastries and cashes cakes at the counter.<br/>Almond croissant $5.50, nice flavour but lacked flakiness texture.<br/>

Got the pork belly potato hash and a latte. Their style of brunch is with a twist of asian influences. Although so, their creativity didn’t degrade the taste which is why I like it. Would come here again

The Bear and The Moon! Enchanting title with an amazing repertoire of Brunch dishes. I love the pork belly and rostis, and the ever changing menu. <br/>One of my regular local haunts, and just absolutely adore the sunlit seats in this place, and the friendly and welcoming service they provide. <br/><br/>Be back soon! :’)

Great daytime vibes. Ordered a mocha and was on point. The prawn burger (special of the day) was delicious and very filling albeit expensive. Staff was helpful in recommending something to satisfy my large appetite. Unfortunately burnt my mouth on the burger, though my own fault for trying to eat this too quickly. Very happy I found this place definitely coming back!

Went here around mid day. Store wasn’t too busy and staff were very friendly. Coffee and hot chocolate were great, but food wasn’t as good as the hype made it out to be. The salmon was very salty and the burger was pretty average. The big breakfast was probably the safest option (can never really go wrong I guess). A good experience nonetheless 😊

Pork belly potato hatch is my favorite dish. The mushroom matches with pork belly and cream tasting very nice and yummy. High recommend to have one.
Tangertalks
Swung by for a latte and had a friendly encounter with staff. This cafe on the corner isn't the largest of spaces but would be sweet place to study or meet up with a friend or two. It has a humble feel and coffee came very quickly!
Wandering Ella
Quaint little cafe in Carlton with a good selection of brunch options. The only thing that really called out to me was their pork belly and mushrooms - and was the only thing I ordered when I lived nearby. They do excellent coffees to which is a big plus.

Food was delicious. The pork belly potato hash and French toast were standouts. I also enjoyed the prawn and fish cake which had a nice bite to it. Service was also fast and efficient.
The Sauceress
Visited on a relatively quiet Sunday afternoon for late lunch. Very friendly staff and excellent service. Started with the spicy, aromatic chai latte. Their pork belly potato hash had an interesting Asian twist, nevertheless it was a very rich dish with the creamy sesame sauce. Hash comes in two textures: the shredded one was much more crispier, while the other one was chunky and soft. Loved the combination.<br/>Would recommend.

A little cramped and full of uni students. Cute little logo, and the food is pretty yum. Ambiance is nice with their green plants, and the service was decent. Left satisfied, but not amazed.
Pipaabas
Had the prawn and fish cake with crispy noodle. Too watery because of the grilled pineapple. Noodle was not fried properly, greasy and some are still hard. Cucumber flavour overwhelmed the papaya salad. Pomengranate and pineapple makes it sounds like it would be sour, however they are not at all tangy, more to the sweet and bland side. Need something to cut the taste of grease from noodle and fried fish cake. Fish cake is very nice. Chai latte is alright, but not for $5.

Visited during the Easter long break - very quiet in the afternoon when we arrived. We were quickly seated and ordered the big breakfast, stuffed chicken and a hot chocolate. The environment was very cosy and super cute - the decorations on the wall really matched the name of the shop. Our food came within about 20-30min and was yum. The chicken was a bit on the bland side but presentation was well done and was crispy on the outside while being super tender on the inside. Would definitely recommend this dish. Unfortunately it seemed that my drink order was forgotten, as were the drink orders from the table next to us - a slight disappoint in terms of service as it wasn't even busy on the day. Overall, nice little cafe if you're in the area!

This place is a humble little cafe tucked away from the buzz of the city. They serve great cakes (namely the lemon tart) and your standard Melbournian brunch. There is nothing particularly unique about this cafe apart from its occasionally great coffee, which varies greatly depending on the barista, so the coffee here is either a huge hit, or close miss (slightly weak coffee). The staff are generally friendly here, with usually only one or two employees making the effort to behave invitingly. It is evident that some of the other staff are less enthusiastic, which generally brings the mood down. I have heard that food can be served quite slowly here when the place is busy.

LE MIEL ET LA LUNE - what a fancy as name !!! <br/><br/>Ordered the cauliflower, kale and cous cous salad! It was nicely presented especially with the little orange flowers surrounding the hummus and cous cous salad! I took a bite out of the salad and it had a great kick of hummus flavour and cranberries that made it kind of sweet. The flavours worked together with the toast and it just gave an interesting texture as well! <br/><br/>The interior of this cafe was so aesthetically pleasing, it was so nice and it just gave a nice, relaxing vibe! I love how the outside of the cafe looks matching to the inside as well. We were seating on the very inside of the cafe that was not as decorated/ designed as well as the windowy side of the cafe, but still enjoyed it! <br/><br/>Customer service was pretty good, the staff were Korean, but the chick at the counter didnt know which table we came from so she had to look through the orders and called the wrong one so we had to tell her what we ordered. She ended up charging us 30cents less ahah! But i aint complaining, i would come back and try the drinks and desserts next time!

Cute little cafe located between Melbourne uni and Lygon street. <br/>The food has a Korean twist which works a treat. <br/>The menu was short but interesting,<br/>I really wanted to try everything!<br/>The shiitake, potato hash with pork belly was my choice<br/>Super tasty, hash was crispy and the belly moist<br/>It was hard to decide on what to get. <br/>I will be back, I suspect!<br/>

I really like the staff at Le Miel Et la Lune and the atmosphere, particularly on a nice day when all the windows are open. Great coffee however the food is quite bland and expensive. I'd recommend it for meeting a friend for a quick coffee and muffin, however not for brunch or lunch.

La Miel is a really nice, airy cafe serving up very tasty food, fresh juices and very good coffee. The staff are always very friendly, service is attentive and makes for a great breakfast or lunch spot. Try their lamb burger, delicious!

A morning run on a hot summer’s day saw myself and a friend end up at La Miel Et La Lune (try saying that ten times fast) for breakfast. The corner spot has a lot of charm and it’s in a handy location. Our early hour meant no issues getting a choice of table, and we were grateful for the high power air conditioning. The food was good, but I wasn’t quite as enamoured as I was expecting at La Miel Et La Lune. Service was exactly half cold and half good, not sure what was up for the first staff member. I had a chia pudding, he had bacon and eggs. These are decent, my pudding didn’t quite have all the chia consistently soaked so the occasional clump distracted from an otherwise solid offering with sweet touches on the fruit. I’m told the pastries are worthwhile if you’re checking it out. The lunch menu options also looked creative.

Delicious brunch and breakfast food, coffee is lovely.<br/>A bit overly priced, haven't come back since but would be back if I were in the area.<br/>Staff are a bit rude. <br/>Take your lover or friends here for some good brunch.
Niki
We booked ahead for a big family brunch and a big table had been laid out for us.  This looked fantastic when we arrived on a hot summer's day.  There was enough selection for the kids, like burgers and toasties (special request), even though this might not usually be a kids-style cafe. <br/>There was a good variety of interesting dishes- the couscous and the squid dishes were fantastic.  The coffee was good,  the service was attentive, efficient and friendly.  It was great to be there on a hot day and sit on the window benches. I love this place, tucked away from the main Lygon strip.
Brew Hunter
Le Miel Et La Lune is a very small corner style cafe located close to Melbourne uni on Cardigan street Carlton. The cafe does not look like much on the outside but upon entering this small eatery the windows are full of bar stools and benches. At the entrance the counter resides showcasing gorgeous delicate house baked treats and advertising the amazing beans they roast to deliver brews of perfection. The interior has a lovely, light vibrate atmosphere due to the white brick walls that fill the room with natural light that radiates from the large windows located throughout the cafe.<br/><br/>I entered this cute establishment late on a Friday afternoon for a catch up with a friend and the vicinity was nice and quite as we where greeted buy a lovely friendly barista and waitress. <br/>We sat towards the back of the cafe that occupies mostly tables for two along side a wall. We where presented with menus and firstly order our beverages of choice being a long black and a house made honey lemon, ginger tea. The long black was brewed dark and coarse with a palatable fruity acidic lingering aftertaste. The honey, lemon ginger tea was perfect to warm ones throat as the spicy ginger was well balanced with the sweet honey and tart burst of lemon.  <br/><br/>After viewing the diverse asian inspired unique menu we opted to order the Grilled squid and green bean, broccolini, asparagus salad along with the Fruit Muesli. Our meals arrived simultaneously looking beautiful and plated with care.  <br/><br/>The Grilled squid and green bean, broccolini, asparagus salad served with minty beans, spring onion, garlic oil, sherry vinegar and lemon was still sizzling when placed on the table. The squid was cooked perfectly not rubbery but rather silky in texture. The asparagus and broccolini had only been light stirfried remaining there crunch and the sherry vinegar married all ingredients on the plate together as one complementing the squid yet not overriding its flavour. <br/><br/>The house made toasted fruit muesli with poached seasonal fruits and orange yoghurt accompanied with a side of soy milk was a delicious filling light lunch. Firstly the presentation of the dish was equally as pleasing as the other with the base consisting of dried apricots, figs, chewy oats and toasted crisp coconut flakes that was dolloped with a generous serving of thick creamy pungent orange yoghurt. The yoghurt had a great strong orange flavour that was not too sweet when folded through the muesli. The delicate poached pear was the standout of the dish remaining its texture and not becoming soggy. The addition of tart stewed berries and a refreshing half serve of passionfruit further excited the palate crafting for a complete flavour bomb of a meal. <br/><br/>Le Miel Et La Lune is a lovely unique spot for a quite catch up away from the busy shops of Lygon street. I imagine that the vicinity would be rather busy around uni time, though the cafe is homed to friendly staff that serve excellent coffee and pleasing satisfy dishes destine to leave one full and with a penny or two to spear.
Dr Ford.
Really terrible experience last weekend. Me and my friends started with some coffee, one of us order soy cappuccino, however the soy cap came with terrible presentation, when we returned the soy cap, the barista came back with same soy cap and saying "it should be the way like this". We were all shocked by what she's saying. Later on, the food was average with overwhelming source. We were repeat guests before and after this we wouldn't come back again ever. By the way, we were told that the owner, barista and chef were all from Korean. So it may not be authentic as it looks like. So disappointed and feeling sad. Would NEVER go that cafe again.

I decided to go here for breakfast since it was near Melbourne Uni, and the inside was bustling with many students. <br/><br/>In terms of the dishes, I ordered green tea which was served efficiently and within 2 minutes of having ordered it despite it being crowded. The scrambled eggs on sourdough toast arrived soon after, and the consistency and texture was perfect. It is probably the best eggs on toast I have tried this year, and their dessert section seemed scrumptious as well. However, I was too full to give it a try.<br/><br/>The customer service was great as I was immediately greeted upon entering, and the staff were pleasant as they took your order and during the checkout. <br/><br/><br/>I recommend this place if you are wanting a good breakfast near campus or within the vicinity of Carlton.

A trendy cafe close to Lygon Street, with a good vibe to it. I really like the distressed concrete façade and rustic interior with timber furniture. The coffee  there is made well,  and my vegetarian breakfast was also very good.  There were a few vegetarian menu items, which is a plus. Inside it is reasonably spacious,  with large windows affording street views. There are also some pavement tables. The  service is friendly and attentive.
VodkaO_ZS
The coffee is good as usual, and I finally tried the food this time. The pork belly and potato hush is really nice and well cooked, the sauce tastes great with potato, and the mushroom matches with pork's flavor. The color pepper is very cleverly used since it could always refresh you for the next bite. Just eat a bit fast since the potato became over-oiled when it turns colder. Chocolate cookie is also worth to try.
Tiffany
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will return for the breakfast, not the coffee.<br/><br/>They recently increased their prices by $0.50 per coffee, so that two take-away lattes (one large and strong; one small soy) cost us $9.50. Although their coffee is decent, its 'quality' is not worth its price.<br/><br/>Breakfast was enjoyable. We didn't feel cramped, and the cafe wasn't loud. We ordered free range eggs on toast with a side of bacon, and a vegetarian breakfast. The waitress was kind to replace the Meredith feta with spinach for me free of charge.

Pork belly potato hash. O.M.G. Favourite and never fails every time I visit my brother who lives just next door. He gets coffee from this place every other morning before uni and customer service is on point all the time.

I ordered a Pork belly potato hash and it was heavenly. Kudos to the chef! The coffee was well made, ideal for a sleepy monday morning in need of an awakening. The service was prompt and friendly. GREAT JOB
Super Soba
Been here twice. The first time I came here I ordered the French toast which was too sweet for my liking. The second time I came here I ordered a simple scrambled eggs on sourdough with mushroom added on. The eggs were cooked really well and looked really pretty. Still it is hard to say if I would ever come back again.

Had a really good experience here!<br/><br/>The place itself is really simple and has all the elements you would find in a French cafe.<br/><br/>Ordered ($18.50) cous cous salad with egg, hummus, salad and bread which was fantastically delicious! The juice was one of the freshest I have ever had in restaurants.<br/>Green- kale, spinach, lemon and apple which tasted amazingly good without overpowering taste of spinach.<br/><br/>Pink- watermelon, strawberry, apple etc. This was really good too. <br/><br/>In all a lovely experience with friendly staff. Highly recommended!

The coffee an breakfast here were outstanding . I think that the Muesli is to die for. They have a great combination of fruit and yoghurt which I have never experienced anywhere else.

I've parked regularly outside this cute little corner café and my curiosity finally had the better of me, so I stopped in for my morning coffee hit. <br/>It looked very appealing with the very sweet looking bear logo on the front window and the big open windows looking out onto Elgin & Cardigan Streets. There's a buzzy old style 1920's jazz music being played this morning and I did wonder if the customer was the priority here this Monday morning or the staff were still to find their groove. <br/>The menu looked comprehensive, but I only had time for a coffee. <br/>I ordered a Long Black + Single Origin, extra .50c , Small Batch roaster beans from Columbia. The initial tasting was slightly bitter and the brew reminded me more of a Turkish coffee where you have that thick coffee mouth feel to it. Not what I was expecting and with an addition of some coconut sugar it gave me a better taste and mouth feel. <br/>I'd be curious to try another coffee here on another day to see if this was the beans, the machine (La Marzocca) or the barista. But I prefer a cleaner taste to my coffee, there were no distinct flavours I was picking up, maybe a bit of toffee?<br/>So I look forward to seeing what the coffee is like next time I pop in.✔️✔️
The Swine
THISS is a very popular Carlton cafe. This place was packed when the Swine attended. The place does look great. Curious what all the fuss was about the Swine did grab a take away coffee. Unfortunately it did not hit the spot for the Swine - to milky and not hot enough. Maybe it was an off day - the Swine will try again.
The White Rabbit
So I've been back to Le Miel Et La Lune (or 'The Moon Place' as my friend calls it) several times now and figured it was time to give my review. <br/><br/>The first time I went, I had a pork belly dish with kim chi and other pickled vegetables. This was several months ago (special's menu) and so is no longer on the menu but I distinctly remember being so extraordinarily full that I could barely finish. In fact, every time I come here, I leave with a very full stomach. The chef definitely does not hold back. <br/>So, the flavours were as you would expect from pork and kim chi, nothing too special here. Just a tad on the dry side for the pork though.<br/><br/>The second time, I had the pork belly potato hash. You can probably tell by now that I love my pork. And 'potato hash' rings bells to my ears. Overall, it was a complete dish and very filling as well. It was good, but nothing special again. <br/><br/>The third time, I finally got my sweet corn fritter. I had been vowing to get it the last two times but saw other promising dishes instead. It didn't give the prettiest picture, admittedly, but the flavours were there. When I read 'fritter' I was expecting these crunchy fritters to bite in to. However, they were more like an uncrispy potato rosti. But together with the relish, sourcream and avocado, the flavours married well. One more thing to note, they were very generous with the bacon. <br/><br/>Because I so love my potatoes and I feel the need to eat fries at all times of the day, I ordered them as sides. They were just your average fast-food-store-like chips with tomato sauce. <br/><br/>Overall, it's a good place to go when you're not fussed and you just want to eat. Price is normal for a brunch place and is very generous in its servings. But if you were looking for a more refined place (in terms of setting and palate) to dine with your lady's group, perhaps look elsewhere.

The coffee was barely OK but I am willing to come back to this cafe to sample the French Toast but will skip the coffee.<br/>The interior design is nice.<br/>Must be busy during uni semester.

Very genuine brunch place at a convenient location in carlton. Ordered a big breakfast and an avocado salad with egg and toast. Comfortable food with reasonable size for one. Would like to come again!

Absolutely phenomenal food and a cute place to go with it! Even food presentation was spot on. Couldn't recommend it more! Also very conveniently placed for unimelb students.

Le Miel Et La Lune is a lovely place to unwind over coffee and brunch. The decor is earthy and inviting, featuring both private and communal seating. I tried the tempura pumpkin with a side of chips. The pumpkin was delcious and cripsy and the bed of lentils provided a fresh and complimentary accompaniment. However the chips were a little bland and I certainly had to rely on the sauce to enjoy them. Their coffee is very acidic and lacked the depth I prefer and they top their long macchiato with water instead of the traditional "doppio" way. All in all it was a pleasant dining experience though a little pricey for what was served.

Absolutely amazing breafast!!! <br/>They are able to cater for intolerances which is quite important for my diary/gluten free needs. <br/>Honeslty my favourite place to go in melbourne , have been there twice and will be returning :)<br/>

A small cafe in Carlton, near Melbourne Uni. <br/><br/>The coffee is okay, however i'm in love with their pork belly potato hash, comes with mix mushroom too.
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
Korean fusion at a place with a French name. Although the service was good, the food was sadly nothing out of the ordinary...Pork belly potato hash was drowning in creamy sauce, making this ordinary dish extremely heavy and difficult to finish...

Been here several times since it is close to unimelb. This is one the brunch places to have a quick brunch with friends. The food is good and the place is very nice. Recommended for those who need a brunch place around uni.

Thought it was a French inspired restaurant, however was not, turned out to be more Korean inspired. Food was average, service was outstandingly....bad. One of the waitress seems to be in a bad mood, no smile when we walked in. Banged the water bottle and glasses on the table and walked away. Pushed my mobile to the side just because it was in her way for the table settings. Mind you, did not even ask if she could move my mobile, just push it aside.

I had a really good soy chai here (in a super cute takeaway cup!) and the hot chocolate was also well made. Yet, I was quite confused as to why the soy chai took so long to make, as I was waiting for more than ten minutes, even though the cafe was not busy, the hot chocolate had been made within five minutes and there was no-one else who had ordered a drink (eat in or takeaway) before me. However, I will have to come back soon and try the food, in order to make a completely informed decision on Le Miel Et La Lune.
Hello. Imnikki
On weekdays, Le Miel is bustling with mostly students getting their caffeine fix but on weekends, it seems to get much quieter and time slows to a much more enjoyable pace. On sunny days with the huge windows wide open, do grab a prime window seat and enjoy the cool breeze and sunlight streaming in while enjoying a cup of coffee. Le Miel's latte is strong and silky, best paired with a muffin or a sweet dish. Unfortunate this is where all good things end. The food at Le Miel, albeit generous in serving size, are subpar. The Asian influenced menu promises much but dishes are either lacking in flavour (the smashed avo I had on my previous visit) or too overpowering (the pork belly my partner had during today's visit). Not only that, the corn fritters I ordered today was quite the burn victim; the underside was charred beyond recognition. On the bright side (and this is just one of my weird quirks - I don't mind burnt food as long as it hasn't turned into charcoal), it was quite crispy. But I can see how others will look at the dish and deem it a major disappointment. Le Miel is blessed with a beautiful space, lovely service and great coffee, it just needs to up its food game.

This cafe has a french name (or so), but the foods are a fusion of korean and western. I had a lamb burger and coffee. It was tasty, but on the expensive-side. Service can be depending on who is serving you. Mostly patronised by students from uni of melbourne during lunchtime on weekdays.

I came here on a weekday at around 11am for brunch and had an enjoyable meal. The food was fantastic. The dishes are creative - modern brunch style dishes with an Asian twist. I had the Hummous with couscous, almonds and dried cranberries and a fried egg on top. Every element on the dish was absolutely delicious and complimented each other perfectly. I loved how refreshing the dish was and despite tasting light, it was satisfyingly filling and is a great option if you're looking for something healthier. My friend ordered the lamb burger. I didn't sample the burger but the chips were fairly good. They arrived piping hot and were nice and crispy without being greasy. He also ordered the salmon salad, and said that it was very tasty.<br/><br/>The food here is a bit on the expensive side, but I guess it's justified by the quality. Despite the other reviews here, the service I received was decent. The staff weren't particularly attentive, but they were friendly and well-mannered.

Cute little corner, full of noisy students when we dropped by for a cuppa hot ginger, honey and lemon tea. This home brew is comforting to the tummy. Service was prompt. Will drop in for brunch another day.

The pork belly was good but sauce was bit too salty. One of the waitresses was bad, inpatient and putting down plates loud, not once but all the time. She should set the table gentlely, not throwing customer stuffs a side even we put in the middle of the table. She could just said excuse me and move the a side gentlely. Very disappointed.

Not a friendly place, and it is a Korean cafe which is replicating Auction room! Copied the menu, charged similar price but way too away from the Auction room standard. Staff is not welcoming friendly as other cafe! Just order 2 lunch set, the pork belly with sesame sauce - which tasted like chinesestyle of cheese rather than sesame! Plus the lamb burger is small taste terrible! Not worth $19! Grilled burger is much better!<br/>

first time to come to this place... bad experience, burnt bacon, over cooked eggs.... and we had to ask 3 times to refill our water, within the area there are a lot better places for the price

I haven't eaten here yet but their coffee is great. I used to pop in almost 3 times a week for take away soy lattes and they always made it an easy ordeal unlike some of the other coffee shops around. Friendly staff too.

What a day to visit and totally ruin our day! The Chinese lady was so rude when we went up to her to pay up our food before leaving. She was like 'hey you! What you order?!' in a totally screwed up face! Food was okay, but service was totally absurd, long wait though there were empty tables around. My partner and I decided not to go back anymore because we reckon that should be a change of service attitude of serving customers.

What a nice surprise. Hubby had corn fritters, which tasted like nachos and I had the pork belly with mushrooms, hash brown and poached egg. <br/>Coffee was great. Not a lot of room especially if you have a baby in a stroller but sitting outside was fine.

Right next to Melbourne uni, right near Lygon st. First thing you notice is how pretty the inside is, awesome mix of modern and old fashioned. It was really busy at 3.30pm on a Monday afternoon and I could tell why. The staff were super friendly, and the coffee was perfect. 10/10 would go again.

The coffee here is out of this world - one sip and I was sold! I decided to have the potato hash with pork belly and sesame sauce. This dish is very unique and combines flavors from Korean and western cuisines very well! The one thing I was incredibly happy with was the generous portion sizes - definitely good value for money! I tried some of the French toast that my friends ordered and I was so so happy to see the bread swimming in butterscotch sauce. I've had French toast at other places before however none have been so generous with their sauces! Will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu!!!
Chris
Breakfast/lunch place with an Asian twist. Usual brunch items are available but some items have a strong Korean influence. Unexpected especially from a cafe with a French name. The servings are very generous. Our favourites: deep fried pork belly and potato cakes with assorted mushrooms and rich mustard sauce, butterscotch French toast. Coffee is good too - apparently comes from Proud Mary.

This tiny little spot in Carlton is great to grab a coffee or brunch. The service was fast and the staff were very personable. The carrot cake was absolutely scrumptious!

First time here and I love it!!! ordered the pork belly potato hash it was flavourful, the portion was generous too. Coffee was good and staffs are friendly. Will definitely return

Went there on Sunday morning place was humming great atmosphere ,you get a view of carlton from Elgin street, the orange juice is great as is the coffee, nice breakfast menu

Coffee is very good. First time been here. Having late lunch. Name like French, but surprising the food is mix between Korean and Western. Old building, not so beautiful interior. But the coffee and food is good. Will try other menu like kimchi styled pork belly next time.

I've only been here once, but their 12-grain rice has fast become one of my favourite brunch meals in Melbourne. Had a go at their french toast as well, which was bursting with flavour. Cute place away from the city, and good for conversations.

I'm surprised that this cafe is so popular. The food is very good and priced accordingly but the service is seriously lacking. The waitresses have none of the personality and contentiousness needed to work in hospitality. One of them asked if we wanted coffees and my friend said "I'm fine thanks." and then she just walked off without asking if anyone else wanted a drink. I watched a girl on another table sit there for an hour with an empty water jug by her side. As we left we passed our waitress and I smiled and she looked at me with the blankest expression humanly possible. These servers REALLY need to be taught how to be warm and personal, because the current service just uncomfortable and dampened our experience. If they improved this element it would be a really high quality establishment.

Le Miel Et La Lune is my favourite brunch placr thats located in Carlton. Their food was always nice and a lot. But, I realize when I eat in this place too often, I am feeling bored with their food. Their coffee is also has a unique flavor. Overall, I like the food in this brunch spot and I always keep coming back to eat here.
Luke
Awful. Food was nice but not so nice I could overlook the appalling way the waiters treat customers.<br/>I came in and asked for a table of two. The first waitress grunted and pointed us to a table having not even made eye contact.<br/>The second waiter comes to our table and greets us by saying "Whaddya want?"<br/>Never coming back. I can't recall ever having such a bad experience at a cafe.

It was my turn to choose where my friend and I were going to have our weekly brunch. I had seen pictures of food from le miel on social media for a while and thought it was time to eat there. My friend and I ordered the pork belly potato hash and the roast pork belly and turnip kimchi to share. The pork belly potato hash came with enoki, shimeji mushroom and a creamy sesame sauce. What my friend and I loved about the dish was the sesame sauce! The roast pork belly went really well with the turnip kimchi and seasonal vegetables. Overall the staff were very friendly, the food delicious and it is conveniently located near melbourne uni!
Yeah
The cafe is great. I really like the lemon ginger honey there. Cheesecake is fine. The pork belly is good and the source is awesome! I'll be there again.

On a lovely corner on Elgin St we found a beautiful place for lunch. Beautifully plated food with many vegetarian and vegan options available! #thosemelbournianfoodies

A lovely neighbourhood cafe with a very wonderful atmosphere. We love to stop by the cafe for a coffee in the morning before we head to work. However this has been a bit of take down when we were served by a very rude staff. We stopped going to this cafe but we thought we should give it another try today. Same rudeness. We were shocked by this as we received great service for the past few months. I hope they notice this rotten orange in the sack and quickly fix this. <br/>

They have the most friendly staff ever, coffee is fantastic, just the right amount of coffee flavour and is always served at the perfect temperature! and the banana cake is Devine!!! Love coming back every time!
Annaliese
Their homemade honey, lemon, ginger tea is THE BEST! Dark chocolate and berry muffins to die for. This is where this cafe soars.<br/><br/>Soup+burger were okay. Just okay. A very confused menu. <br/><br/>Stick with the basics and you won't go wrong here. <br/><br/>

Don't be fooled by the fancy French name, this cafe is far from French, serving Melbourne brunch classics with a Korean spin. The corn fritters were unique, with a tangy salsa presumably inspired by a Korean palate, although it lacked the crispness/crunch that you would expect in a fritter. The location next to uni and atmosphere is on point, but the service could have been better!

Located fairly near campus, definitely one of best quick yet delicious lunch from class. Their pork belly is definitely my favorite. Especially with the potato hash. Do look out for their specials too!

The restaurant is pretty small so sometimes it's hard to get seats. Split bills are possible so I guess that a plus. Decent breakfast and lunch menu. A place I would go there again.

Ordered a lamb burger and a pour over coffee.<br/><br/>The lamb burger was completely raw and still a bit cold in the middle.<br/><br/>The pour over was over extracted and already cold when I got it 15 minutes later. It wasn't busy either.
