reason I want to go to PappaRich is their Kaya Bun- sad that it’s always unavailable. The lady staff can probably be more friendlier- but their food is still good.
Points for: tasty Malaysian dishes
Dine Time: Weekend lunch
Managed to get in before the waiting line started.
I always like the roti here, cos it's fresh - you can see the guy slapping it onto the table, and straight onto the grill, then scrunched up slightly to give it more texture.
The chicken rice is also pretty decent, nice pieces of boneless chicken, fragrant rice cooked in chicken fat and ginger, served with bean sprouts and soup. Ideally I'd like to have the spring onion sauce on the side in addition to ketchup manis and garlic chilli. The side soup was nicely seasoned but could have been hotter.
The laksa is rich, thick and midly spicy - you get a lot of coconut coming through. The egg noodles are thick and chewy, but doesn't come with a mix of rice vermicelli. All the toppings seem to be deep fried, making it a little oily, but the eggplant is nice and creamy.
If you haven't tried it, have the Assam Laksa - one of the few Malaysian restaurants that will do it. It's unlike a curry laksa, it's a fish based stock - sour, spicy, fragrant, with thicker rice noodles. Add in the shrimp paste for an extra fragrant kick, and with the mint and cucumber, just brings everything together.
Not sure why PappaRich gets a lot of mixed reviews. They do a lot of classic dishes pretty decently, I guess it's up to your expectation on value and service.
I always love coming here to get my dose of Malaysian cuisine. My favorite go to dish is the hainanese chicken rice. The rice and chicken were well done and flavorful and their kopi is really reminiscent of home. Although they are really crowded during peak times, I would love to come back here again some time.
My go to is the wat hot fun here. Always consistently good and the chillis that go with it are also very nice. A little bit pricier than its competitors in the area but usually pretty good.

Really good food and quick service. I wish the portions were bigger for the curry and naan bread. Drinks are on the more expensive side of cost but are pretty good.
LIT!: Hor Fan won by far. Usually I stick to the curry laksa but this may be a new fave.
NOT SO LIT: the chicken fish was tough to eat, so you really got to get in there with your fingers. But most dishes were enjoyable.
Thanks for having us :)

Wasn't expecting anything as I stepped into PappaRich but I ordered WaTanHor and it tasted like home and it was absolutely heart warming. The food wasn't like amazing and it wasn't bad but it tasted like the watanhor you can normally find in Malaysia and I love it. However, you can only pay with etfpos is your bill exceeds $30.
If you're craving some Malaysian food but not worried about the price this is the place to go. It's not as cheap as the other restaurants on the street but it's definitely worth it.
Great food and ambience! A good place to come with friends or family for a dine-out. Affordable and pretty authentic as best of my knowledge about Malay food!
Service is great, food is good however can get a little cramped. Feeds 2 people for around $40 with drinks. Their nasi lemak is deffinatley worth a visit. Will be back!
