Great cheap meals especially after a long shopping session. Some of the lunch specials are no longer $10 and others are discontinued, but it’s still a good meal for the price and pleasant atmosphere away from the hubbub of the shops and the foodcourt.

Lovely spacious cafe to sit and rest at a busy centre. Lots of space for a pram and comfy seats to feed my baby. I came back here twice on my shopping day!! Friendly staff, yummy coffee and muffins, and good music! Thanks!

A great coffee bar and restaurant with good view to the CBD ie floor to ceiling glass windows.
Had a good americano and sat comfortably enjoying the moment.

I was worried when my Dad said, “Let’s catch up for coffee with toasties or an omelet for breakfast.”
He is very fussy with his coffee, toasties, and omelet. Fingers crossed when I decided to have our breakfast catch-up at Hangar Café Restaurant on Spencer Street. When we arrived, friendly staff greeted us. As we cannot decide what to have, he suggested taking the menu to the table and deciding what to have.
As usual, my Dad decided to have his omelet served with toasted bread and flat white coffee and I had cheese ham croissant with long black coffee. Five minutes later our order was served by a waiter with a beautiful smile. Even though it is cloudy outside, she shines up like a sunny day.
Normally my Dad will start complaining about his coffee or breakfast meal after his first sip or bite. I just realized that my Dad was silent sipping his coffee and almost a quarter of his omelet was gone. He is smiling and closing his eyes like he is enjoying his favorite Beethoven music. Just to reconfirm what I thought, I asked him, “How’s your coffee and an omelet?” He replied with a smile and two thumbs up. See the pictures of how cheerful he is.
To the Hangar Café Restaurant, I salute all of you with excellent customer service, delicious food, and good coffee. The most important thing, you made my Dad happy.
Keep up good teamwork.

After a big shop for some new clothes at Spencer Outlet Centre, I had was feeling quite peckish. So we visited Hangar, a cafe next to Harris Scarfe. They serve a range of burgers, pasta and salads alongside coffee, milkshakes and smoothies.
The first thing about the restaurant that leaps out at you is the amazing natural light coming through the side. You can view all the pedestrians and traffic walk by, its really fantastic.
We tried some items from the $10 express lunch menu. The steak was a nice thin and lean cut, with crispy fries and a garden salad on the side. Really impressive for it’s price point.
The calamari & quinoa salad was also a hit, especially since we ordered extra calamari! This is a good dish to share if you’re not feeling super hungry.
With good food, fast service and a great view, I recommend checking out Hangar Cafe when you’re next in the city.

Slowest service almost an hour for breakfast with barely any people in the Cafe.
Disrespected my fiance and didn't apologise with any respect but made excuses for his lack of service and blamed his chefs.
We ended up getting a refund and leaving and taking other customers with us due to his disrespect.

Lovely and affordable breakfast. Had poached eggs with smoked salmon, and was impressed with the generous serving of the smoked salmon. Very friendly staff and cosy vibe.

Interesting place with piano player on the weekends. Nice shakes and coffees, cheap meals and $10 lunches. Friendly & fast service. But not quite the best cleanliness, as sparrows hang out inside, but they are friendly and not harming anyone, but on the look out for some crumbs. Very convenient location as situated inside Spencer outlet mall, next to Southern Cross Station and whatever they name Docklands stadium at the time you're reading this review! Not bad but you can do better.

Hangar cafe is one of my go to places for a quick and cheap lunch! You’ll find it at the very end of the spencer street outlet centre, where they have a decent amount of tables and a good outside view too. If you’re lucky, on fridays they have a pianist playing during the lunch period, making it such an entertaining and lovely atmosphere to be in.
I usually order from their $10 lunch menu, which always satisfies me in terms of the serving size and quantity. Their Linguini Bolognese is simple and easy, the sauce is tasty and their pasta is always well cooked.

Very affordable and nice cafe! The ambience and vibe were really nice, so were the staff! I got the eggs benny with crispy bacon and it was absolutely delicious! Not to mention my double shot cap was on point as well!

Had a coffee at Hanger Cafe. Located in the spencer street outlet and good little cafe away from the foodcourt itself. Average coffee

Lovely atmosphere, love that a gentleman plays piano here. Think this place has potential. Unfortunately I think the service and food left a bit to be desired. Chips were not fresh, disappointingly. I would not bother returning.

Poor service. Took 35mins to heat up an egg and bacon toastie and when I got it, it was still
cold in the middle. I also had to go up and ask about the toastie as they hadn’t even put it in the toaster after 20min of me ordering. Poorly run establishment.

Ordered the rump steak $10 lunch express menu. The steak was well seasoned but sadly overcooked. I ordered it to be cooked to medium but the meat was cooked through. Nevertheless, it is a good value lunch.

The lamb salad is excellent, a big serving of vegetables with a lot of deliciously cooked lamb. The coffee matches my tastes well. Overall, I'm looking forward to coming back.

Just had a matcha, which is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves and is dissolved in water or milk. The flavour is quite different to what we are used to and is a bit eggy, but tastes quite nice.

The $10 express lunch menu is great value and fast service. I've tried a few different menu items but can't go past the rump steak. I've had it a few times and it's always been cooked perfectly and it's always been a good quality cut – very little to no fat etc.

Would prefer steak chips as opposed to fries but at least they're served with a side of tomato sauce. Salad is okay. Cos lettuce and some onion with a nice dressing.

A good value sit down lunch that can be a bit fancy, without excluding the classics.

Shopping up a storm at the Spencer St Outlet and saw that Hangar had a lunch time deal $10 for express lunch, this is probably the biggest bargain here.

Happy to say it was express, my schnitzel came out quickly. It was a large serving. Schnitzel was very thin and crispy, needed more flavor, fries were good.

I’ve tried a few Hangar Cafes in my time and they have been quite hit and miss. This one is certainly worth a visit. Located in the Spencer Street DFO building down the far end this edition had quite a stylish interior and great seats by the sunny window looking up Lonsdale Street. I suspect the interior is borrowed from the previous tenants as the piano still remains from when they used to play lunchtime tunes... I kid you not.

Hangar has an amazing lunchtime menu for $10 Monday to Thursday (or over a longer time Friday to Sunday) and I tried the steak. What does $10 buy you in a steak meal. Well the steak was tender, thin but cooked how I asked and the plate came with a basic green leaf salad and a pile of chips, gravy and tomato sauce. Certainly good value and tasty to boot.

Certainly a range of great options on the specials menu and this gets top marks for bargain sit down lunch over the average food court items at the other end.
