All Good! But price was more expensive! 所有都很好 只是最后上的辣子鸡 太难吃……炸太久了吧 苦苦的
We went to Colourful Yunnan for dinner after uni. Unfortunately a couple of the dishes we wanted were unavailable. The food that we did end up ordering were delicious though. The service is decent for a Chinese restaurant. Although the restaurant looks tiny downstairs, there is quite a large space upstairs and it is quite comfortable.
If you love spicy, real spicy chinese food, this is the place. It serves really authentic chinese food and I love it!! It has an extensive menu, and all of them looked so good, we didn't know what to choose from.
We had the eggplant fried rice, pork ribs with chilli and garlic, cold spicy chicken with sesame sauce and lamb in chilli oil. Everything was up to my expectations.
It can be quite busy at night, so it might be a little bit noisy as the tables are quite near to each other. It's kinda pricey but it's definitely worth it!! The portion is somehow big and 5 stars for the taste.
We attended Colourful Yannan on a Saturday night with a large group of people. The table I was on all enjoyed all their meals from the large menu including green beans with mushrooms, chilli and pork, chicken tendons (highly recommended), beef and chilli, lemongrass and chilli barramundi, preserved short ribs with nuts chilli and potato and the traditional chicken and noodle dish which you prepared at your table. The other tables were also impressed with the dishes they ordered.
Service was okay and attentive when wanted and everyone was friendly.
Only downfall is the bill is in Chinese and you had to pay down stairs instead of paying the waiter the bill. Which cause a traffic jam downstairs. Also some dishes were not available such as 3 dishes of noodles and another dish which was strange because we were there at 6:30 pm.
Overall great authentic meals and definitely worth a visit.
So unexpectedly cheap! Came here for dinner for 2, + drinks and totaled to less than $35 😱 crossing bridge noodles were delicious as expected, with a warm hearty chicken broth and lots of toppings. For $14 this huge bowl of rice noodles is an absolute STEAL. The stir fried noodles were tasty, and had a bit of a kick to it. Serving portions were MASSIVE
The best part was definitely this coconut drink that everyone was drinking. I don’t remember if it was on the menu but it was coconut milk with sago and pieces of toast on top? So delightful!
We found this excellent restaurant in Carlton which serves up Yunan dishes which are more geared towards being spicy... however if you can’t eat spicy food there are also a number of options available.. though not the best options there.. the restaurant itself was pretty big and had 2 levels.. the highlight was the pork trotters and the soup noodles (which are a delicacy in the region).. some of the other dishes that were spicy provided some insight into what other choices they had.. on the menu the level of spiciness was marked as little chilli logos..
The options of dishes were very varied and it would take a while before you would be able to make your way through the menu..
Overall a great experience and would definitely come back for more...
Gingko Leaf Girl always suggests the best restaurants – having introduced me to chilli crab haven Red Hot Wok and South Yarra fine dining spot Atlas with its perennially changing cuisine focus – so I was excited when she proposed that we visit Colourful Yunnan one cold Friday night.
Nice and busy place if you love spicy food. Authentic Yunnan style food with enough flavour. Recommend all hot dish and the coconut-bread drink. Noodles and fried rice come in huge portion.
Probably the best Chinese food in Melbourne. I would definitely go back there for more good food. Authentic yunnan food served in an utmost sophisticated way
