Stars are for the panini. Not the place (a bit worn) and not the service (a bit “whatever”). Turkey & brie was good though 😋

If you want to try different types of panini with a good coffee you should definately check this place. They have more than 10 types of panini made fresh everyday, Hot breakfast also available. My favourite is sweet chilli chicken, salami, breakfast burrito.

Popular spot at 6:30am! Great for a "Melbourne Cafe" experience in the early hours, when a lot of other places aren't open yet. Lovely little cafe, nice staff, delicious looking breakfast range. Fine coffee.

Great paninis, reasonable price, no frills service

Love this joint. Can't go past the chicken and bacon panini.

The owner is a very nice and friendly guy. They offer healthy and yummy food both for takeaway or in house dine in... I work around the corner and tried all the cafe around but here is my go to... suggested to my colleagues and they all a fan now 😍

Panini Bar continue to deliver great coffee amid the COVID-19 crisis. My order is always remembered, the coffee is served at the perfect temperature and always tastes great. It is clear that the barista goes to a lot of effort to make sure each cup is perfect, you see him throwing away imperfect shots. They have a simple food menu as well which exceeds expectation. It is a pleasure to be served by Panini Bar daily.

This is a pretty chill spot to grab a panini and coffee and sit there undisturbed reading the paper. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of time and got a salmon panini to go. It was nice and toasty filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese but I felt that there wasn't enough substance to it. I also probably would have liked the salami with mozzarella cheese more but it wasn't pre-prepared yet.

The 3.6 rating seems right on the money. Busy place around peak coffee time of 10.15am. The coffee took a while to arrive but was good, rich and substantive. Service was a tad cool and detached for me as I've always seen warmth and friendliness as virtues. The place seems popular though. The food looked interesting. Next time perhaps.

I called in here for a coffee this morning. The service was quick, given that there was only 1 person working at the time.

The coffee was alright, it hit the spot haha. It wasn't the best coffee that I've had and definitely not the worst.

But it was too hot for a take away coffee! And I say that because you know when the coffee is too hot when you can barely hold it in your hand. Grrrr

Great coffee!!

Great taste of Melbourne. Excellent prices and wonderful atmosphere. Great coffee and especially convenient if you're staying at the Rydges Hotel heading out to work in the morning. The service is what I have come to expect in Melbourne - the best in Australia. Keep up the great work, guys!

~J

Fresh Panini's. Come by near daily for my Panini and coffee. Panini's are always fresh and flavoursome. Its a nice little place with great customer service. The owner and staff are very chatty but won't bug you if you want to enjoy your food by yourself.

Definitely worth a visit if you are on this side of the CBD.

I don't rate the coffee that highly. The panini's are good but the service is ordinary. I don't want to burden them with my custom but it seems I do. Any chance of a chat or a smile? Just once?

Coffee, panini, chat. Impressive little gem. Very clean and tasty light food. Exceptional coffee from Campos and most importantly really good customer service with a smile. If you lucky enough the owner will have a chat with you about anything.
Highly recommend it.

Breakfast here two days in a row, and we came back for a lunch panini. Great value and fantastic food. Muesli with yoghurt and berries was creamy and sweet, with lovely grains and seeds. The mushroom avo feta toast was the best brekkie I've had in ages, with subtle complimentary flavours. Good coffee too, and nice to people-watch at the bar

Fantastic Thai pumpkin soup. I've started buying soup from this place a week or so back and have never been disappointed. Today they had Thai Pumpkin Soup and I must say, this was spectacular. At $7.50 (with 2 pieces of white or brown bread) it's even very affordable. I will be back!

I drop by for my early breakfast fix every time I'm working up this part of town. Always order my usual which is the muesli yoghurt and piccolo latte. Perfect everytime! great service, food, vibe, and coffee! Always seems packed by 7:30am compared to other cafes,so must be doing something right! keep it up!

Food full of flavour. I visited this place a few times about 3 months ago, but it was just your average quick fix sandwich place...nothing special at all. I have returned twice in the past few weeks, and there seems to be real new freshness in the food, with the absolutely legend Breakfast burrito! Someone has put some real love into making this package of goodness taste spot on with balance of flavour.. I returned for lunch, and devoured the Tuscan Bean soup last week...wow...what flavour!!! This is a steal, costing only $7.50, served with crusty bread, and again, it tastes like someone there really cares about good food. I presume the place is under new management with a new head chef, possibly the new manager?

The coffee on both occasions was so-so. The early morning coffee was somewhat bitter, and a little cold..served by a guy who attempted to engage in conversation...but it was more awkward than interesting as I waited for my order (lucky I had the burrito to make my morning), but on my second visit at lunchtime, the tall chatty guy served a nice enough latte, but it didn't make me smile half as much as that soup did.

Revamped a bit, great coffee. I've had some brilliant and some horrible coffees from Panini Bar over the past 3 or so years, but at some point in the last few months (I suppose) it seems to have undergone a change in coffee and "feel". They now serve Campos coffee and seem to have a new barista, though perhaps the other guy was having a day off.

The last three times I've had coffee from here, it's been delicious. Tasty and strong, perfectly textured milk and a really lovely coffee blend. The only problem is that I seem to get collected by people whenever I step out the door.

The blackboard above the register now has prices for 'black' and 'milk' in the vein of various pretentious Melbourne laneway cafes that probably don't want losers like me among their clientele. Panini Bar has none of these ridiculous airs, and you can ask for a "cappuccino" without a hipster smirk and eyebrow raise, at you having asked for a particular drink rather than 'white' or 'black'.

Walked passed today and noticed they use Campos - one of my favourite coffees. Ordered my usual skinny flat white and it was superb. The Greek yoghurt muesli and berry compote was really tasty as well. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back when I'm at this end of town next time.
